Just finished reading Frank Braynard's "The Big Ship" about the history of the SS United States, which prompted a Google search and found this Cruise Critic thread. Thanks Jim and Stan for the Ocean Liner Row pic, the only recent comparable pics are those of Ford Island in Miami, Charlotte Amalie in St Thomas, and Nassau harbor pics aren't bad either, but they still don't hold water with the pics of the Manhattan waterfront in the 50s/early 60s.
Glad to see there are others interested in these old ships, hope the Big U will be saved in some sort of capacity for posterity.
