  1. My husband and I always cruise mid to late October. The weather has always been great, hot and humid! Last year was the first time ever that we had more cloudy days than sunny ones. There is often a rain shower late morning or early afternoon that might last 10-15 minutes, but it's usually so hot that everything dries within half an hour. We will be on the Glory for B2B October 18th & 25th. We are also hoping for better weather than last year. Enjoy.

  2. Last night, my DH and I booked the Alaska cruise on the Legend for June 16/2015! We are so looking forward to this cruise, to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary! We are wondering which shore excursion would be best to book. Not sure if there is duty-free shopping in Alaska. Can someone answer these questions for me please?

  3. Wow, it sounds like you've been run through the mill and back! We've never has a bad experience while cruising, so we count our lucky stars. Well, one bad experience on another line but we were so well taken care of and well compensated. How about copying your post on John Heald's BF page and see what he can come up with? I know he really tries to get to the bottom of issues and if there's anything he can do for you, he will. Try it and see what happens - you can't lose - then let us know here on CC.

  4. Only 88 sleeps until we leave for our October 18th and 25th B2B cruises on the Glory! And, since July 10th, I've had a price drop on one of our cruises, and TWO on the other - for a total of $257!!! This will cover more than half of our gratuities (three of us are sharing a balcony cabin). We're going cruisin', we're going cruisin' - LOL

  5. Some guy called me one day and declared himself my PVP. I did not say much at the time - was not ready to book a cruise just then. He kept calling and started insisting I book a cruise, so after the fourth call, I told him in no uncertain terms that he was now my fired PVP. Never wanted to deal with someone specific. I prefer to call Carnival directly and speak to whoever answers the phone. They are always pleasant and have always done the best for me.

  6. On our very first cruise in 2005, which happened to be on the Carnival Miracle - DH, myself and another couple had booked OVs. When we saw our TA to make the final payment, she advised us that Carnival had upgraded us to balcony cabins - for FREE! At that time we had no idea how great this deal was. We have not been able to book anything but balcony cabins since - and we've never had another upgrade... We're booked on B2B Glory October 18th and 25th. I guess there's still hope for us.

  7. Yesterday, we were finally able to do the double digit dance! On December 21, 2013. we booked B2B cruises on the Carnival Glory - October 18th and 25th. We are leaving home one day before we board the ship. YAHOO!

While checking Carnival's web page yesterday, I noticed that the cost for the balcony cabin was less than what we paid, so I called and was able to get a credit on our final payment for a difference of $176.79! We are SOOO happy. OK, the difference is not all that big, but I figure anything is better than nothing. You can bet that I'll be checking the site every day until final payment!

  8. We just got off the Glory May 31 - June 7 sailing.

Our room steward never introduced him/herself and we never saw them.

Finally on day 2 I asked guest services to have the room steward come meet us, unlock the refrigerator, and remove the alcoholic items from it. The guest services person called the "floor manager" and spoke to him. He said the room steward would come meet us as soon as he came on duty that afternoon. No one ever showed up. A guy who said he was just a "runner" finally came by with a ring of about 100 keys. He found 1 that opened the fridge. He said only our room steward could remove the alcoholic items because he didn't have a place to store the stuff. I said OK and he left. A little while later, he came back and said he was authorized to remove the alcohol items. We ran into several people out in the hallways during the cruise that looked like they might be our room steward but when I asked them, they all said no. On day 6 I went guest services again to make sure we didn't get charged by our phantom room steward for the missing alcohol. They vowed to have the floor supervisor meet us and the room steward too. Again, no one ever showed up.

Somehow the room got cleaned, the beds were done, and a towel animal showed up each day. If it had been a Disney Cruise I would have thought that Sorcerer Mickey had something to do with it, but this was Carnival.....

We had prepaid our tips for this cruise and I thought about removing the tips for a minute, but then I decided that the most important thing was that the room got cleaned and so I left the tip as is. We usually give our room steward an extra $20 or $30, but you can't tip someone you have never seen, so no additonal amount was left this time.

Yikes! Which cabin were in? We are on the Glory for a B2B in October. We always enjoy meeting our cabin steward and get to know him/her. Good for you on not leaving extra tip. We also leave the extra, but if this is going to be the case..... Please let me know!

  9. After cruising on another line, I started receiving e-mails from this guy saying he was my PVP (with another line). He would then follow up with a phone call, TELLING me it was time to book my next cruise - why had I not booked it with him yet??? Not only that, once (and only once) I tried to call him to ask a question. I left him a voice message as he was not available. He NEVER called me back. I then sent him an e-mail to which he never replied. My next e-mail to him was to tell him that he was NOT my PVP, that I had NEVER requested a PVP, and to LEAVE ME ALONE! I much prefer to call the main phone # (with any cruise line) when I want to book, and to be able to call whoever, whenever, I choose to ask questions. I hope I don't sound too harsh - but when someone bugs me like this (and don't tell me he's only doing his job, please), I prefer to make my own calls when I have questions and need answers. I have to say that Carnival is my favourite cruise line, although I do cruise with two others, depending on the price, ports and timing.

  10. DH and I often cruise with a friend who likes to do scuba diving excursions in ports while we do our own thing. We don't use the two-way radios on the ship, but we do in port to hook up with our friend when her excursion is done. Works really well for us. We sure would not want to annoy other pax while on board....

  11. DH and I and a friend are cruising B2B on the Glory October 18th and 25th this year. Our friend has back issues and in the past, she has slept on the sofa bed, but found it really uncomfortable, even with the egg shell. So this time we booked cabin 1064 which has an upper birth. My question: are these more comfortable? I presume they have a mattress? Any help would be appreciated.

  12. OK, then. It's settled. We bit the bullet and rented a cabana. A little pricey but from what you've all written here, the cost is worth it. Maybe we'll be totally spoiled for future cruise at HMC!!! Only 125 until we leave for our cruise! WOO HOO!!!

  13. OK - I guess my next question is - how much are the cabanas? We were looking to minimize the cost, but it we can't fit three loungers in a clamshell, renting one kind of defeats the purpose... Note that there will only be three of us. Again, thanks for your help.
