  1. For the record - you CAN buy Ulu knives on Ebay and Amazon - yes, from Alaska. Matter of fact the ulu factory sells directly on Amazon. I don't know what the prices are in Alaska proper - but on Amazon, 35-45 dollars.

I paid $10 for one in Ketchikan & have it to a friend who loves it & uses it every day. They will ship it home for you.

  2. I think my ULU knife I bought in Alaska is the best souvenir I got there. It is unique (though a hunter friend told me it's like a knife he uses) to me' date=' and I use it several times a week in my kitchen.

My mom didn't get one when she was there, and asked me to pick one up for when we later went. My second trip I bought several for Christmas gifts after I found mine so useful. Again, look for one that is made in Alaska. I bought mine at our last stop, which now I don't remember which port was last.

We found that the last sea day of the cruise there were vendors on the ship selling them in the atrium area, but I don't know if they are made in Alaska, or cheap ones from China![/quote']

I bought one in Ketchikan on my last day Southbound. I gave it to a friend who uses it in her kitchen every day. She hasn’t even had to sharpen it yet after three years. I’m going to get myself one this year!

  3. Only been there twice so hoping for a three peat. I just hope my luck continues as I was wearing shorts both times in Denali.

am hoping to go back this Aug/Sept too! I had damp, but good weather at that time in 2011! The fall colors were amazing, Denali was clear & we had Aurora visible from Talkeetna!

  4. Ticket books haven't been sold at Dockyard for several years. You can only buy tokens or transportation passes. The closest place to buy them is the Hamilton ferry terminal.

I read that they were available in a guidebook. I guess it was out of date.

  5. We are very interested in a visit to Caribelle Batik. For those who have been there, what were your impressions? I'm interested in observing the artists and purchasing a wall hanging. Clothing is not a big draw for anyone in our group.

I loved the grounds and the tour. When we walked up, there were beautiful batiks hanging on the line, flapping in the breeze. It was delightful. I actually bought small gift items on batik bags:c07b419f5b60ab3ac13eb5124d569795.jpg

  6. I am Elite in both lines, and probably have a slight preference for Celebrity. That said, Princess has a one day sale today for a $1 deposit on future bookings. I have two Princess cruises booked but am looking for a 10 day Caribbean cruise for November 2018. I booked today on the Crown Princess, a premium balcony, total cost is about $5480 Canadian for the cabin. No extra perks included. I plan to watch prices and perks sales and lock in when I see a deal I like.

Checked Celebrity tonight and I can get a 10 night on the Reflection in a sunset veranda with drink pkg and $300 obc for the same price.

I thought that was interesting as I had always paid more on Celebrity. I will be watching both carefully, and hoping Celebrity comes out with a $25 deposit offer.

I think they raised the prices for this promotion, so look for the prices to go back down over time.

  7. I see you have received excellent directions and I just wanted to say we love Baltimore cruising. Boarding is so easy and swift, I have been sitting having a drink by 11am several times. we usually get there @ 10:30am and by the time you relax with first drink it's time for lunch. enjoy your cruise!

Is there public transportation to the port if I come in on the train?
