  1. Got my tickets through for cruise in 20 days time and for some reason my wife and my daughters dates of birth have switched. Wife is 22.05 and daughter 27.04 but now showing 27.05 and 22.04. Can’t get in touch with MSC, waited 2 hours on Friday. Tried web check in and can change everything on there other than dates of birth. Any ideas folks ?

  2. Why in the world would you title your thread with a provocative FALSE claim? Because you think it MIGHT happen?

Its a turn of phrase, It’s humour, take it as it’s meant. Do you honestly think the op actually thinks she would be tackled by a staff member ?

  3. So is there just a guideline or is it a policy that no shorts are to be worn. Therein lies the answer whether it must be done or is it should or shall which is a whole different meaning.

If it is a policy then the “ I am on vacation and will do what I want “ statement does not apply ( well it might but you May pay the consequences and be refused entry) but if it is a guideline then you can certainly wear them whether other people agree or not. Me, I prefer that people dress for dinner but can’t force my will on anyone.

  4. This is how I got my etickets emailed prior to 20 days. When you pull up your booking, if you click on etickets on the left, that screen will show the muted orange eticket box. Don't go here.

At the bottom on the left, click on Web Check-In. When that screen comes up, you will get an unmuted orange eticket box. Even thought it says not prior to 20 days, go ahead and click it. I got my email with the eticket file within minutes. I'm guessing you need to be fully checked in to do this. I was. Attaching a photo of this but not sure if it will work.

Thanks for that, worked perfectly for me . Just click on the Web Check In and up it pops. Clicked eticket box, nothing happened however within 30 seconds I had the email sitting in my Inbox. Luggage tags the lot. Thanks again.

  5. I await with bated breath for your official announcement ! To be fair I don’t think you would need to make an additional one as you latch onto any thread that mentions a mere whiff of unpleasantness. If that is your thing then crack at it. Me I prefer a glass half full rather than a toilet half full. To each their own I suppose.

  6. Love your thread title, Bill! :D

I think the following needs highlighting for those who are yet to be convinced (unless they really don't want to be!)

Just waiting for somebody else to come on and say “well there was a smell reported on another thread” probably where someone broke wind after having brown lettuce and stale egg sandwiches !

  7. Maybe you should grind your axe with MSC instead of here!

    Exactly right. ☝️

No idea what is going on in this forum. People have their say and recount their experiences, others have differing opinions that’s what a forum is for. Do we really need to ram our bad experiences down each other’s throats ? Give the review, answer questions but to harp on incessantly about the same thing to others who find things perfectly fine goes beyond the pale. The foods hot - yes but it was cold when we were there, the ship doesn’t smell - well it did when we were there, the food is great- well it was crap when we were there, we know but you’ve had your say, it’s an alternative view point. Keep saying this, we are all different with different expectations, ways of reacting and enjoying but for goodness sake have some manners and respect for each other. Jeez 😡

  8. My sailing is coming up in a couple weeks. I have downloaded the MSC for me app. It was loading and opening no problem over a month a ago. But in the last few weeks when ever I try and open the app it crashes as it is starting to load before I can input my booking number or anything it crashes and disappears off my screen. I have tried deleting and reinstalling and the same thing happens :(. Anyone else having this same problem with this app or just me :o

Not just you it happens to me also. Have tried deleting and reloading but makes no difference. Works fine on my phone.

  9. As a Martian-American I take offense to this terminology. ;);p:evilsmile:

There really is too much drama on these boards.

Just seeing your up and coming cruises, you looking for some long lost family in Scotland that you can take along with you. (Your treat of course):halo:

  10. Well said. Can I start using this? ;p

Haha, absolutely. I can tell you I have been to some sh.. (sewage) holes around the world but I still enjoyed myself. Cruising the Caribbean on a “glitzy” cruise ship I will have a ball. Americanised, European, Martian style of cruise I don’t care what you call it, I can assure you my family and I will enjoy it as I won’t let the little and sometimes larger things get me down.

  11. Cruising Seaside in July and this will only be my second cruise. What I can’t understand is why is there such polar opposites on this forum. Having travelled all over the one thing I always do is my homework. Before booking this cruise I knew exactly what each experience was. Why do people worry about what others get on a cruise, you really do get what you pay for. The analogy I’ve seen is people don’t complain about those in first class on their flight there, they paid for that privilege and get what comes with it.I did upgrade to YC purely because we are heading in the very busy season of July and peace and quiet when I want it was a a big consideration. Why do people let the smallest thing ruin their whole trip, I just don’t get it. Buttergate, why do I not get this and that but others do, why do they not have our local cheese on this cruise, why opera and not back street boys in the theatre, why does a meal take 1 1/2 h- 2 hours and not 20 minutes, what would we speak about ...... etc etc. This forum has been a real eye opener to me as to how little prepared some people are for such a big outlay of cash. Not any holiday will satisfy everyone but cruises seem to see such opposite views ! Enjoy it, live it, have fun, I’m sure it’s better than being at work !

  12. There is absolutely nothing wrong with people having a negative opinion of anything. I just wonder though are some people paying low cruise prices and expecting 5 star ritz service ? Some of the things people are letting ruin their holiday, for me, is incredible. Am I expecting 5 star for what I paid, absolutely not although I am looking for something decent as although not the most expensive cruise line it’s still not cheap. Just Enjoy your holiday and don’t let the little things grind you down. Have a cocktail, chill and move on. Holidays really are what you make it.

  13. After watching the video, I too was taken aback at first...but then I realized. A lot of what Jim was disappointed in wouldn't disappoint me. That doesnt make him wrong or me right...When I was on the Divina I realized that MSC seems not to focus on buffet dinners...so I accepted that. Deep water pools are common on most ships, and I live in Florida, so the pool depth isn't that big of deal to me as I have pool access in my life year round. Most new ships that I have been on do not have self serve laundry...would I like it? Yep for the reasons Jim mentioned. But it doesn't bother me enough to make or break my trip. Its important when reading reviews, to then think: Does what this review say really impact me?

Im going in 5 weeks. I cannot wait. I have read a ton of reviews. Im glad Jim took the time to do what he did...All information, if accurate, is helpful. With that said, I do not discount his issues. They are his. I may or may not have my own. Ill be sure to share them. :)

    Yip this ☝️.

Can’t say there was much in the video that would upset me. Well put together video but there was nothing in there that is anywhere near to putting me off sailing. Pick any hotel on trip advisor and the reviews vary from never again to best we’ve ever been to. Really looking forward to cruise and no doubt some things will irk me, some things will be great but I will enjoy it because I’m not looking for faults, I’m looking to have a blast !

  14. Hey ! Let's be nice ! ! Please stop bashing the new comers.

So what if they only have one post. They apparently had a concern ( which , to be honest, was expressed a bit dramatically )

    But a concern nonetheless .

I thought we were here to be helpful . Could we not just explain the life jacket procedure on the Seaside in a kind and helpful way ?

Everyone here started with a first post . I know I have been helped by many kind and knowledgeable folks on Cruise Critic . There are too many mean people in this world , don't be one of them .

Sorry ! Stepping off my soap box now !

Well written post above. I’m sure there are some with the wooden spoon but also some genuine concerns.

As someone who works on an oil rig I can tell you there are life jackets at the lifeboat muster points. Loads of people out working who could not get back to their room to pick up a life jacket dependant on where the incident is occurring. Would you really want to go back through a fire to your room to get a life jacket or would you rather them placed around the ship where you could access them ? ( we do have both options on the rig mind you)
