  1. I came of the Explorer this past Sunday and was wondering about the odd configuration of cabins on the outside of Deck 6 forward of the stairs and elevators. The cabin doors on the starboard side look to be replaced by storage cabinets of some type. The deck plan shows there are cabins at this location, but I saw a white panel wall instead with non traditional cruise ship doors. Wondering if there are rooms here damaged or otherwise out of service.

  2. Is the regular drop off area the only place to drop your bags or is there somewhere in the garage to do this like they did in Terminal 10? What time were you dropped off?

The problem area at the new Terminal 1 only impacts buses and shuttles dropping off passengers. There didn't appear to be a problem with private vehicles using the big new garage. We waited in line at least 30 minutes in line with the drop area in our sight. We arrived at 11:30am and felt harried after finally being dropped off. Not sure why the access road didn't have a second lane to separate the big buses from limos carrying only a few passengers.

  3. Cash is the best way to gamble...bring the cash you can afford to lose, as that is the most usual outcome. If you have to pay a "fee" to gamble, you've already lost.

So, cash is preferred? I heard a strange rumor there was NO cash in the RCCL casinos which made absolutely zero sense to me.

  4. We are traveling with a party of ten and are struggling to find a day tour during our visit to St. Croix on 12/31. The ages in our group range from 70 down to age 12. We are not looking to drive around the island, or simply sit on a beach. Hopefully we can get out and visit places of interest and do something fun. Does anyone have a recommendation on what to see and a reputable tour operator who can assit? Thank you.

  5. Be sure to research the Buccaneer day pass situation before you travel. I would not go there without a reservation number and the name of a contact person on premises.

I heard stories of them simply saying the resort is closed to day pass travelers without warning. You would be paying a lot of money and wasting your entire day to find out day passes are not being honored on your travel dates.

  6. I contacted 4 tour companies seeking a private tour for a large group arriving in San Juan on 12/30.

Both Eliot Tours and Sunset Tours were kind enough to get back to me with estimates in the $45 - $57 range.

I did not hear back from Natural Wonders and one other tour company. I feel those tour operators who don't respond are the ones most likely to leave you standing at the dock. I sent one email and that's it to gauge their interest.

  7. We are arriving in San Juan on the Explorer of the Seas on 12/30. I am curious whether the ship docks near Old San Juan and we can walk into the city. I saw a post on another site saying some RCCL ships dock on the other side of the harbor and nothing is walkable. Does anyone have infromation on the location? Thanks.

  8. Our family of 6 will be docking in Old San Juan on the Norwegian Pearl in January. We're trying to find the best tour operator to take us to "off the beaten path," less crowded places of the rainforest (but yet not too rugged), and for someone with the best local knowledge and ability to show us the best and most beautiful and unique aspects of PR.

Have checked lots of information on TA and on websites, and we're currently torn between using Roberto of Sunset Tours, Eliot of Eliot Tours, Albert Aguirre (Surfcabs), or Natural Wonders. Also thinking about Javier R. from Tours by Locals. We'd like someone who will be flexible, interesting, and show us both natural beauty and also some other PR sights and orientation to OSJ, all in maybe a 5-6 hour tour.

Has anyone done tours with more than one of these, and can anyone recommend one of these tour operators over another?

I am curious who you selected for your tour.
