To clarify, you're speaking of the Canadian Rockies, correct?

I was on the Magic in 2012. I sailed with my mother and daughter in a cove balcony cabin. We had two twin beds and they turned the sofa into another twin bed. I think most of the 3-person cabins are set up this way.

If you're on the Rimantic Rhein cruise, that change has been showing as an asterisked note on the bottom of the description since at least May 2014 when I booked. That's why I chose a different sailing.

Short answer: no.
John Heald does have some fun times from past cruises on his blog. You can get to it from the bottom of the Carnival home page.
I so wish Carnival had an app.

As an Alaska native, I can attest that there are many people in Alaska who "enjoy being outside" during the month of May, as well as the other eleven months of the year. [emoji6]

The bell hops are are the cruise terminal?
I think he meant porters.
You drive up, drop your bags with the porters, go park, take the shuttle bus back to the terminal, then go through security and check in. It's fairly quick and painless.

I've stayed in a cove on the Magic with a connecting door. We never heard a sound from the "neighbors" next door.

I have the same concern. My husband and I are both 45 and will be taking a Rhine River cruise this August with Avalon. I'm nervous that we'll be the 'young whippersnappers' on the boat. I don't think we'll actually get much culturally from the trip as we'll only be in each port for such a short time, so I'm planning to just enjoy it for what it is and think of it as a 'scouting trip' to look for new potential travel locations.

It's very common for us to get thick fog in the winter. There are frequent delays this time of year.
There is a storm coming in right now, so I'm sure all the wind will blow it out.

Tons of sea life!
We saw some dolphins and some turtles near Jamaica. Mostly when entering and leaving port. My mother said she saw jellyfish, but I didn't.

The only locations where ocean spray seems to be an issue are the forward coves. This is where the ship really cuts into the water and creates some waves. If the bow comes out of the water, it will spray a little when it comes back down. Our cabin was mid-ship and we never got sprayed.
The coves are probably 20-25 feet above the water. Not that close. But close enough to feel connected to the sailing experience.

Sailed in a midship cove in 2012 on the Magic. Loved it! The balcony is shady because the lifeboats are above you. The room was larger compared to the balcony rooms I saw. The view of the water, up close, was fantastic and we were able to spot dolphins swimming alongside. Noise was not a problem. In fact, I felt like the lifeboats provided a sound buffer from the decks/balconies above.

In Fairbanks, take some time to check out the University of Alaska Museum of the North. Beautiful exhibits. But I'm biased as a UAF alum. 😉

As a native Alaskan who has done all these activities (not thru a cruise excursion), I would skip all of these if you are having back issues. Especially the ATV.

If you stay at the ones over on JFK and the beltway (Hampton inn, Hilton garden inn for example) there is a taco bell and Jack in the box and another restaurant within walking distance. If you go on the other side of the airport by Will Clayton Pkwy and US59 there are a few properties (super 8, best western) that have food within walking distance as well (sonic, waffle house).
Keep in mind that these roads (JFK Blvd and Will Clayton Pkwy) do not have many sidewalks, so walking anywhere will require you to either walk on the road or through the brush and/or drainage ditches on the sides of the road. Please be careful.

Just confirming: if you sail out of Texas, you are NOT PERMITTED to purchase Cheers until the 2nd day. It's a local Texas law.

Short answer: NO.
Bush Intercontinental is about 75+ miles and about 2 hours from the Galveston Cruise Terminal. Hobby Airport is also a good distance away from Galveston. There are no free shuttles to Galveston as both airports aren't anywhere near Galveston.
There are no cheap hotels near Bush Intercontinental, either. The area is very overpriced.
There are several hotels in Galveston that do offer free shuttles to the Cruise Terminal. The Hilton springs to mind, but I know there are others.

Thanks, Mario. Looking forward to celebrating my 25th anniversary in August on the Tranquility II. This will help very much.
