Ha - mystery solved! I was on this sailing and I saw a lady walking on the staircase with toilet paper wrapped around her head and tucked into the hem of her leggings. She was also carrying a roll of toilet paper. I wondered what that was all about - now I know!

Beautiful shots - thank you! We were on the ship at that time. My husband and I were sitting in the Solarium area watching as we left Boston. A plane flew directly over our heads and very close to the ship as it was coming in for a landing!
We spent the day walking the Freedom Trail, which we enjoyed, since we love history.

For some reason, they make it as difficult as possible to sign up for this! Also, I have never seen anything about it other than what I've seen on Cruise Critic. I wouldn't have know it existed otherwise.
We were on Anthem last week. We tried going to the Seaplex several times on the first day. Either no one was there, or the person didn't know anything about it. Finally, someone at the Seaplex told us it would be available to sign up for on the app either that evening or the next day. It never showed up on the app the entire week.
The next day we went to Guest Services. The agent took our names and room number and said that he would email someone about it and give us a call. That night, we had a voicemail in our room telling us that they had signed us up. Fortunately, it was a day and time that we could do.
To be honest, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would (I love playing the escape room games online) - but my husband enjoyed it more than he thought he would! For me, it was mostly a personality thing - too much chaos going on at the same time was a bit overwhelming - but that didn't bother my husband - he dove right in.
Anyway - there is not a way to sign up prior to being onboard. Apparently it sometimes shows up on the app, but not always. Best bet is to go to Guest Services.

Hi,
I have several questions about the ferry from the Royal Dockyard to St. George:
1) Our cruise ship docks at 9 am - any chance we can make the 9:30 ferry?
2) The ferry brochure has a cash price, but the Royal Dockyard website says that they don't take cash. Do they? If we could just pay with $5 bills and not have to worry about buying tokens, that would save time.
3) How bumpy is the ride? Assuming good weather - is the ride very choppy? I do fine on cruise ships, but I sometimes get sick on ferries if they are very bumpy.
4) If we end up having to take the 11:30 am ferry - how early should we get in line?
5) Same question for the return ferry, especially if we need to take the 5:30 return, which is the last ferry for the day.
I know that is a lot of questions - thank you in advance for any advice/help you can provide!

Thanks for continuing your review - greatly enjoying it! Fyi - I think the orange shoe in your photo is supposed to be an orange bumper car. :)

Loving your review - thank you so much for doing it!
I have a question - what was the temperature like inside the ship in the public areas? Also, generally speaking, how was it on deck during the days at sea (temperature-wise)?
Thanks again!

Yay! I love a review no matter how late it is. :) Thanks so much for doing this - I will be following along.

Excited to follow along! (sorry about the boarding delay)

Having only sailed to and from warm weather ports, it is strange to me to see the dock covered in snow!

I was hoping to take the 11:30 ferry to St. George. I thought that it might be less crowded than the 9:30, but it sounds like that may not be the case. Any suggestions on how early we should get in line to be sure and make the 11:30 ferry?

Thank you. Correct - we are cruising from Cape Liberty. That is why we'll be taking a car service to the port.
Assuming a taxi ride with no extraordinary traffic delays - do you know how the prices compare between taxi and car service from LGA to Times Square?
-
Silver Line from the ship to South Station and a free transfer to the Red Line is currently $2.65.
Fare is going up in the next couple months to $2.75 (I believe).
mbta.com will have all the info for you
Thank you. Can you pay that to the bus driver? Is exact change required?

Hi,
We will be in Boston for one day as a cruise stop. Most information I see is for people starting or ending their trip in Boston. I can't find much where people talk about being there as a cruise stop.
Anyway, I want to get from the ship to Boston Commons. I know that I can catch a bus to the South Station and take the subway to Park Street station. What I can't figure out is payment. How much will the bus fare be and do I need exact change? Same question then about the subway?
If we decide to take a taxi instead, are they sitting at the cruise port throughout the day? Also, if we decide to take a taxi back to the ship - can you usually catch one at tourist spots or would we need to call one to pick us up?
Thank you!

Hi,
We are flying into LaGuardia and staying in a Times Square area hotel for a couple of days, pre-cruise. I will book a car service to get us to the cruise port.
My question, however, pertains to getting from LaGuardia to the hotel. I was planning on just taking a taxi. Is that an okay plan or is there some reason that it would be better to book a car service?
Thanks!

Enjoying your review - thanks so much for doing it!

Thanks so much for your review! Which airport did you fly out of? (Sorry if you already said and I just overlooked it).

Can anyone that has done the self-disembarkation from the Anthem at Cape Liberty tell me whether or not they had to transport their luggage up and/or down any stairs, or was it all elevators and ramps?
Thanks!

Enjoying - thanks!

Very much looking forward to your review - both of NYC & the cruise!

Enjoying the review so far! Thanks for writing it. :)

So if you are going in May, then had you already made your dining reservations and they all got cancelled? I have Dynamic Dining Choice for my cruise in June so I wonder what will happen to my reservations? This whole thing confuses me:confused:
I had only made one dining reservation. We prefer to just show up when we are ready for dinner (rather than having a set time). We don't mind a bit of a wait and have had success with this plan on previous cruises. The one reservation that I had pre-booked is currently still showing. So - who knows!

We are scheduled to sail Anthem in May. Today I received an email from Royal about dining which said:
"During your cruise vacation, you'll have the opportunity to taste new things and enjoy some favorites as well. As a convenience to you, our valued guest, you can explore the possibilities with our Countdown to Cruise online planning tool. With Royal Caribbean International®, you'll be able to take part in our traditional dining experience or choose from our dining experiences:
- Sign up for My Time Dining. Enjoy the comforts of the dining room at the time you choose. Once you've signed up, you can either reserve your dining times for your cruise vacation online or visit the Maitre'd once onboard.

Thanks for choosing Royal Caribbean International."
The reference to My Time Dining sounds like they are making a change. However, I just looked online and you can still make reservations at the various restaurants. Have they been using this email all along - or did they previously have one that used the term Dynamic Dining?
Count me among those that will be disappointed if it changes.

Hi,
I am trying to plan our schedule for our days in port on our upcoming Anthem cruise. I'm wondering how soon before the various departure times that we will have to be back on the ship? Is it a set amount of time prior to the scheduled departure at every port stop, or might it vary?
Thank you!

We had lunch twice at Jamie's on Anthem - best meals we had! I loved the space - at lunch it was relaxed, not overcrowded and we had ocean views. The service was excellent. It was a ton of food. The rocket & radicchio salad I had as my side was one of the best salads I've ever had. I loved the penne pomodoro and my husband loved his pasta carbonara. The fruit tart for dessert, with a side of ice cream, was also heavenly. Personally, I can't recommend it enough!
