  1. We are planning an extended family vacation on the Escape on April 29th (me, husband mid 50s, 3 college-aged kids, brother and Dad in 80s, who is a cancer patient on oxygen and part-time wheelchair). We have balcony cabins close by each other. We've cruised as a couple and with the kids but never with a family group like this. Any advice and for those that have been on the Escape before (St. Thomas, Tortola and Nassau) - what would you do differently if you could? Thanks!:p

  2. Loving your review!!! I leave on the Escape on May 20. 2017 and have a studio room. There are 4 of us going and all got studio's. I'm really getting excited!!! I have sailed with NCL 4 times and this is the first time on one of the newer ships. I have never heard of a VIBE pass. What exactly is it, how much does it cost, and how do you get one???

  3. Will be sailing on the Escape May 20, 2017. First time in a studio room and first time on the Escape. Just wondering what the blow dryers are like in the room. I would love to be able to leave mine home this time!!! Really looking forward to staying in a Studio. and being on the Escape! Any hints, suggestions or must do's on the ship???

    Thanks!

  4. I would let carnival know that your husband is disabled. I just did a cruise in 2014 with my girlfriend and her disabled husband. She contacted the cruise line ahead of time letting them know he was disabled and they went out of their way to make everything go smooth before, during and after the cruise! Her hubby was a happy camper and so was she!!! :-)

  5. Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions!!! I'm now checking about 3 times a day!!! LOL! Really looking forward to this Journey cruise. I have been to Bermuda before and I'm really looking forward to going back to Bermuda and exploring Grand Turks and Amber cove! Thanks again! :)

  6. Is there a certain time of day or night I should be checking or is it just random? I'm getting obsessed with checking for FTTF!!! LOL!!! If I don't get it its no big deal! I'm going to have a very fun filled cruise with FTTF or without it!!! Hurry up Hurry up Hurry up!!! :)

  7. I've been checking everyday, sometimes twice a day since the first of the year for my May 26, 2016, 9 day Journey cruise. Still has not opened up. You guys are giving me hope that it might open back up!!! Fingers crossed!!! Any suggestions???

  8. I booked the 9 day Journey cruise leaving May 26, 2016 on the Splendor last November (2015). The ports are Bermuda, Grand Turks and Amber Cove. At the time of booking they were not offering FTTF. I have continued to check and it is still not being offered (I've been checking everyday since the first of the year!). My question is, did I miss out on FTTF or have they just not offered it yet? I have read that if it was open and they closed it sometimes they open it back up closer to the sailing date. Any helpful info on how to get FTTF would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :-)

  9. We leave friday from Sacramento, Ca. to board the Jewel on Saturday, Dec. 6th. We will be in a Haven 2 bedroom family Suite. This is our first time in the Haven! Getting very excited!!! I've been watching the webcam and it looks like you are having pretty good weather!!! Have you used their new iconcierge app?

  10. Thanks Clay for the heads up. My girlfriends husband is disabled so she wants to get him settled in at the hotel as soon as possible after our flight. We are going to take the shuttle back to the airport Saturday morning and catch the NCL shuttle to the port. :-)

  11. We have made reservations at Courtyard by Marriott Houston Hobby. We're traveling from Northern California and get in late afternoon on Dec. 5th. The hotel has a restaurant in it and we'll probably lay low that night and just eat there and go to bed early. We'll be up early and ready to get our vacation going on the Jewel!

  12. Thanks again for the wonderful review, pictures and information. Appreciate all the time and effort you put into it. We will be cruising on the Jewel December 6th and this will be our first cruise on the Jewel and our 1st Haven suite. Your review and pictures have given me so much to look forward to!!! Thanks again and I hope your daughter is feeling better after her surgery. :-)

  13. Sandy,

So sorry to hear about your daughter. Hope she is feeling better and on the mend. So enjoying your review. My girlfriend, her husband and myself are booked December 6th on the Jewel in the Haven 2 bedroom Suite 14510. It is our 1st time in a Haven and it's so fun looking at all of your pictures. Really gives me even more to look forward to! Have cruised on the Gem twice once in a midship balcony and once in a Penthouse suite. I loved all the perks of being in a suite, but from it looks like and from what I have read The Haven is a really big step up! Thank you for taking the time to write such a great review. :-)
