We spent the morning at a beach at Blue Bay.  Then we ate lunch on the ship and

walked around Willemstad during the afternoon.

Blue Bay has a good website.

    That place looks amazing.

    Was Blue Bay all inclusive?

  2. If you are making stops at all the places you named, your schedule sounds crammed already. (Notwithstanding whatever they are considering "Ancient Rome" -- as separate from the Forum and Colosseum?)

Have you discussed with your tour provider how much time you'll have at these stops? Some of them can hardly be more than a quick photo op, right? With all of the crowds and the extra security in Rome in recent years, the common rule of thumb is that on a day tour from port you might have time for EITHER the Vatican Museum/Sistine Chapel OR an inside tour of the Colosseum, but not both.

Thanks! That’s what I figured too - can’t see both Vatican and the Colosseum.

We’ll see how long we stay at each location but you could be right. It could be like Chevy Chase in Vacation looking at the Grand Canyon - head bob, “ok, let’s go.”

  3. We are going on Epic this summer on a Western Med cruise.

We have a private tour and we are planning stops at Colosseum, Roman Forum and Ancient Rome, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, St. Peter's Basilica,Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel.

We've bought tickets for the Vatican and now I am trying to figure out if getting tickets to the Colosseum would be a good idea - time wise. Wondering if there is other things to do around the area since there will be large crowds. We are planning on spending more time at the Vatican. Need some recommendations.

    Thanks!

  4. Looking for recommendations for excursions for the family. We are going in early January on Vista. Was looking at the beach clubs since they have the inflatables for the kids (13 to 21). But was wondering which beach club has the most options to do - snorkeling, paddle boards, horseback riding, etc.

We wanted to do the Monster Jeep tour but the ship comes into port too late - 10:30 am.

    Any suggestions appreciated!

  5. We used Liberty Tours and absolutely loved them. They did a tour, took us to the Blue Hole and to Scotchies for lunch. We found them on Trip Advisor because of their wonderful reviews. You can contact Ricardo Riley at libertytoursjamaica.com. He was quick to respond to us and so easy to work with. We never felt unsafe and overall it was one of our best excursions ever. Hope you have a great time! We can't wait to go back.

So far, I've read some great reviews about Liberty Tours. I sent them an email and they responded right away. Now working on getting our group to agree on the things to do.

  6. This will be our first time in Jamaica and want to do a little bit of everything. Looking for a little island tour, maybe something like Blue Hole and then the beach before we go back to the ship. Just wondering if anyone has had any recent experience lately.

  7. I just got back from this itinerary (with a group of 8) earlier this month. Here is what we did (I planned it out after reading various reviews on Cruise Critic).

St. Thomas - taxi to Sapphire Beach and then Paradise Point. I think you might be able to walk around and see what to get into at this port. We enjoyed Sapphire Beach, though. It was very low key and relaxed.

Barbados - HIGHLY recommend Calabaza catamaran tour. They only allow 12 people on the boat, so it almost feels like a private tour. Drinks (alcoholic and non), lunch, and several snacks included in the price. It's only $10 pp more than the Carnival, but it feels like you paid a lot more than that on it! Favorite day of the trip.

St. Lucia - did Spencer Ambrose Land, Sea, and Beach tour. Loved the views and the snorkeling at Jalousie Beach (best snorkeling of the trip) and the boat tour portion was great (possibly contributed by the free flowing rum punch ;)). If I went again, I would just do the Beach tour. From what I read on here before the trip, you should have a planned excursion at this port.

St. Kitts - transfer to Cockleshell Beach (Reggae Beach Bar) with Pereira tours, including a stop at Timothy Hill. Enjoyed Cockleshell Beach - get there early if you can! It's probably very possible at this port to walk and see what to do - lots of taxi drivers and tour operators around offering trips at the port.

St. Maarten - taxi to Mullet Bay and then walked over to Maho Beach to experience the planes. Mullet Bay was gorgeous (the most clear water I have seen) and the bar and food stand, Rosie's, makes incredible frozen drinks and freshly grilled food right there. Some excursions (as mentioned above) make a stop here. This is probably a port you could see what to get into also. This was the nicest port in my opinion. There is a water taxi from the port that goes to a very nice shopping area (high end stores) and also beach access. That being said, I still recommend Mullet Bay!

Hope that helps! Enjoy your trip!

We have booked Calabaza! Trying to find out if the final payment is cash or do they just use the credit card on file.
