1. We were in C750...the balcony is much narrower than the previous pics posted...here is C750plus there is another beam directly next to the table...there are two beams...however the room is larger than the other S6's...we did not find the beams bothersome but the one in the bedroom blocks your view....again, I do not believe the previous pics were of C750...the Vistas on lower decks have larger balconies such as the pic posted...you will love the room so don't worry!!

Thats so weird! I've cruised in a few aft suites and always had a balcony that had the door then 3 partitions just like f-mattox pictures. I even had one aft balcony cabin and had a larger balcony than that. Your balcony looks the same width as the ones on the side of the ship. You don't even have the long lounge chairs. You said cabin c750? just want to make sure because I will never book that one!

2. Interesting. I've only flown to Puerto Rico in the the Caribbean and no passport needed. I'm thinking that the passport stamp is more of a souvenir at this point.

I agree!!! That's why I ask them to stamp:) Hopefully they will look at all those stamps when they get older and return the favour one day;)

3. Thanks for replying. The older one is potty trained(at night too...finally::)) but we will bring a small inflatable for the baby.

I've been in the kids club before including the outside fenced in area and have never seen a pool. From the deck plan, it really looks like what at least used to be a hot tub. I was just on the Ruby a year ago and it was still a hot tub...unless the water was warm for another reason:p I'm so curious to get on the ship now! I feel like I'm going crazy trying to figure this out:)

4. Can anyone currently on the ruby recently confirm if the aft hot tub has turned into a splash pool? I've been on the ruby twice and it was a hot tub both times but when I look at the deck plan it says splash pool. I have 2 small kids so its good for me but seems strange that they would put it back by the adults only pool.

Thanks so much! I posted a thread but nobody has answered so Hoping someone here will!

5. Interesting thread! Its always nice to hear fellow cruisers opinions!

We travel with our two children ages 4 and 1 and we have been booking a mini suite and an interior for the last 4 years. My husband has a thing about not being able to sleep in the same room as our children so he sleeps in the interior. It's nice too because then we don't have to share a bathroom! It's also cheaper to book hubby and one child in an interior than all 4 of us in the mini:) We Cruise the ruby in a few weeks and just got an upsell to the owners suite so super excited for that. My first cruise was an interior and since then I've done balconies, minis, suites and family suites:)

What countries stamp passports these days?

I believe everyone does when you fly in, unless you are flying from one Schengen country to another.
EM
I always have to ask them to stamp my children's passports because they often don't do it anymore. US never stamps, I don't know why. The exception is they always seem to stamp when we fly to the caribbean:)
8. I've been really lucky on princess and have been upgraded to full suites 3 times. Everytime I was booked in a mini. Just last week I took advantage of my first up sell to the owners suite on my Nov cruise on the ruby($400/person). Very excited. I usually watch the suite prices on my sailings and they are usually sold out before the cruise leave(or given out as upgrades/upsells). I too don't think you would have a chance at the pier:(

9. Not that it makes any difference, but the couple in the video were Canadian.

I know that they were canadian, as I watched it on my local news before I read about it on cc. I believe most people replying are US which is why i asked if there was a difference between US and CND credit cards insurance wise. Some people have posted that they learned from experience and that they will never travel without insurance. I'm only asking if I am missing something or not understanding something properly about using the insurance on your credit card...I would like to learn from their experience:)

Just to be clear, I am not advocating people travel without insurance in any way.

And yes, i do know that not all cards have insurance but most premium cards do and usually people on cc are seasoned travellers therefore I would assume most or at least some have "travel credit cards":))

10. As I read through this thread I have a question and the OP touched on it a few posts back.

So when I book my cruises or other vacations, I don't feel the need to purchase extra insurance as I have coverage for if I get sick before or have an accident/get sick during from my credit card(covers the family). If something happened like a loved or close friend got sick/passed, I'm sure it wouldn't cover that and I'm fine with that, I accept responsibility for the possibility of something going wrong and me losing my cruise with no reimbursement. My question is most of the people are mentioning that they always get insurance so do most american credit cards(assuming most posters are in the US) not come with travel insurance? I have confirmed my insurance since having kids, as I could not travel not knowing if they were properly insured. Am I missing something that I should take into consideration?

11. I agree. While I really feel for him losing his partner, I think princess was more than fair. If you book a hotel that doesn't have a cancellation policy, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't do the same, yet the cruise lines are being dragged through the mud again! Really surprised by the news anchors responses also, terrible reporting. Again, sorry for his loss.

12. So sorry that the little one got sick:( I hope she's feeling better now. I was also on this sailing and around day 3 they started removing utensils from the tables in the buffet as well as pumping condiments at the grill. I knew this was a sign of noro on the ship and asked about it. They told me that they were at code yellow...no idea what that means in terms of how many sick people but I would have thought it had to more than 2! I was travelling with my 2 yr old and was really worried about her getting sick so I ended up being the crazy lady with the wet ones! Glad you enjoyed your trip.

13. I've learned a lot from the generous people on this board and registered today in hopes of returning the favor! We just recently rented one way from MCO to port and then port to MCO after the cruise. We used Budget, and because of my experience, we will not use Budget again when going on a cruise from Port Canaveral. At MCO it took 45 minutes to get our luggage, and 1 1/2 hours to get our van. I had a prepaid reservation with a code, had a great price, but the run around was unbelievable. Even though there were lots of vans in the lot, "my" van wasn't ready, we were forced to buy insurance even though we didn't need or want it, and he kept trying to get us to pay for an upgrade to a SUV because he was extremely worried about 6 people in the van with our suitcases being more than the tires could handle! (The highest weight in our party was 215 and the lowest was 120!) Dropping off at the port took close to one hour from car return to terminal. Renting after the cruise was not any better. We waited in the rental shuttle line for 15 minutes, couldn't get on that one so had to wait 45 minutes for the next one. Once there we waited another 40 minutes to reach the counter that had only one woman working it, and we were 4th in line.

I learned a few things from the CM managing the rental shuttle lines while we were waiting. Budget only has 1 shuttle van to service all the ships in port, while the other companies have several. Getting to your cruise after returning your car with Budget, Disney is the last stop. After the cruise, the number of shuttles available for customer pick-up becomes even more important because Disney has a secure pier. No vehicle is allowed in with anyone who has not gone through security so if your car shuttle picks up passengers from other cruise lines they have to drop them off before they come to Disney. They can only get on Disney's pier with an empty van. With Budget only having 1 shuttle, it creates a long wait. We saw the other car companies' vans come through 3 or 4 times and leave empty while we waited. In fact Hertz had to help our Budget driver shuttle people. At both MCO and the pier, Budget was the only one with a long line. All the other companies had very small lines or no lines at all. So for me, spending a little more with the Hertz, Avis or Enterprise will be money well spent because of all of the time and hassle I will gain back.

All this to say that we flew in the day before our cruise so we had the time to deal with the delays. If I were flying in the day of the cruise, I wouldn't do a one way rental car, from any company, unless I was coming in very early in the morning. Renting and parking at the port would be better, but still with the relatively late time your flight comes in, and the time baggage claim takes, I would be very, very nervous. You might seriously reconsider the Disney transport. I'm not dismissing your reasons for not wanting to use it, because I've had lots of eye-rolling opinions about things I did not want to compromise on concerning my own children, but I think it is your safest option all things considered. You are guaranteed to not miss your cruise with Disney transport. Disney runs cartoons so your child will have something to occupy his time and hold his attention. I think the second safest option for making the cruise boarding time is to hire a very reputable car company and use carry on luggage to avoid the baggage claim delay. (but no guarantees like with Disney transport) Good luck with your decision!

I'm sorry this is long, but I hope it helps someone! :)

Thank you Beachbabysc! This is the type of information that I am looking for. Thanks for taking the time to reply:)

14. So same day arrival ... Looks feasible but if I were you I wouldn't do it. Cutting a bit too close. I want to feel starting my vacation when the flight landed at MCO, not a few hours later when th cab drop me off at the cruise terminal.

You wouldn't do it because you would be afraid of missing the boat or because you would want to feel like you were on vacation a few hours earlier. I'm not worried about the latter, just want to make sure I make it too the boat:)

15. Thank you all for your replies. I'm pretty sure I'm going to forego the disney transportation and rent with budget or hertz. This is my timeline:

11:20-arrive in orlando

12:30-be in rental car hitting the road

1:30-drop hubby and daughter off at ship, then return car

2:00-be back at ship via cab

Does this sound attainable for all of those who have done this? I know someone mentioned frequent accidents but if I'm stuck then so is the disney transport...plus that's why I'm not comfortable taking my daughter on transportation where she is not properly restrained.

16. Just decided to cancel my ground transportation thru disney since I don't want my toddler going unrestrained on the bus. Any recommendations for which car rental company is the best to use for one way from airport to the port? I can drop off my husband and daughter at the ship then return the car and cab it back to the port but it would be nice if the car rental place was close by.

17. If you're on the 10 day Emerald Princess cruise leaving 10/29 there are actually 3 sea days, not 1. You are correct, the spinning classes are usually held on sea days in fact only one time that I can remember was that not the case. The classes usually start at 9am but I've also attended some that started at 3pm. I believe it's $10 per class. A tip to you...after you check into your cabin go to the Lotus Spa and tell the desk you want to sign up for spinning classes. You'll be directed to the open area where all the spinning bikes are located. On a table you'll find some clip boards and one will be for spinning. Sign up early because if all the lines are full you'll be put on a waiting list.

Good luck and maybe I'll see you at a class.

Thanks! That is the cruise I'm on, I just mixed up the itinerary with another cruise we are looking to book in Dec. I will definitely be signing up as soon as I get on board and hoping they add another day or two, maybe Princess cays would be a good place for them to add one:)

18. I'm sailing on the Emerald on Oct 29 and was wondering if anyone has info on spinning classes . I did them a few cruises ago but can't remember how it worked? Are they only on sea days? There is only 1 sea day so not sure how that would work out! I also don't remember how much it costs.
