  1. OK, just got off the Allure, here is what I will say. My partner got the package, I did not. While most bartenders were making both passengers in the cabin buy the package, some were not.

There was mass confusion around the ship. The POS system was not yet ready to handle the packages. the bar staff had to punch things in specially as Per Diem to get them to ring up zero. Many did not bother to ring things in. Some bars were refusing to allow certain alcohols, claiming only the low end ones were allowed.

The specialty restaurants all screwed things up. Not one was able to handle the package. Each one claimed that the package didnt count there and refused to ring the drinks up for free. (Giovannis, Park 150, and Samba). Some became rather rude about it too. (Samba)

My partner eventually went down and spoke to Beverage manager Jon Jon who went through the invoice and took off all of the drinks. He also gave his direct line in case my partner had any more trouble at any bar the rest of the week.

I think Royal rolled it out poorly. I think that they need to do a soft launch on each ship and maybe offer to Suite passengers or Diamond and up passengers first and try to work out the kinks.

With all the hassle my partner went through, I am not sure that he would do it again until Royal works out the kinks. Whoever rolled it out on the Celebrity side of the house needs to come over and help Royal get it straightened out

The $55 per day seemed to include the tip as the total price was $385.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Has anyone else used the package?

  2. Lots of misinformation in this thread. I am just off Allure from the 25Nov sailing which did include the premium alcohol package. It was $55/day and after tax/tip it was just over $400 per person. Everyone in cabin over 21 must buy the package. I never found an alcoholic drink it did not include. If there is a specialty glass you pay an additional fee for the glass. Beers up to $6.25 are included. We drank $10 plus martinis that were completely "free". There was a bit of confusion among the staff, especially early in the trip. They seemed to get the hang of it after a couple days. They are instructed to not give you a receipt ($0.00) because it would seem they were soliciting an additional tip. You can ask for a zero receipt if you do want to tip extra which we did on many occasions. Never found a house wine we didn't like. We had already purchased the wine package prior to departure and they gave us a credit for that towards the alcohol package. They refer to it as 'PI' and you get a PI sticker on your seapass card. I didn't see anything about the discount on bottles of wine but it may have been part of the program, I just didn't take note because the house wines were fine. I don't know specifically what they were.

This is a FANTASTIC addition to the already wonderful royal caribbean product.

When you say they gave you a credit for the wine package, did they give a full credit? Was it on the spot when you bought the alcohol package? We are in the same boat and were curious how this was gong to work. We weren't sure if we would get a refund or if they would lower the cost of the alcohol package?

Glad to hear that you thought it was worth it! I've been waiting to hear from someone who has used the package!

  4. Just returned yesterday from our Oasis sailing. Didn't find out about the pkgs available until we were almost back in port but as reported earlier in in the thread but did pick up the sheet on this program from the concierge.

The program wouldn't make sense for us. We do the CL every night. I don't think we did $55 day / person beyond that. The premium program did include Kettle One and Grey Goose though.

I was told if you had the proper sticker on your card they would still ring you up a receipt with a $0 balance. Probably due to inventory control.

Any chance you could take a picture of the sheet they provided for the alcohol package?

  5. I called RCCL last night and they told me they did not offer alcohol packages... shows what they know.

I bought my soda packages online. Wonder if they can swap them out onboard or do i need to cancel it?

I'm sure they have some sort of "swap out" thing on board. We just cancelled ours so we wouldn't have to deal with trying to swap out the soda package. We figured if anything was weird with the alcohol package, or we decided we didn't want it once we got on board, we could always repurchase the soda package on board.

  6. I've never gotten the soda package on RCI before. Is it a big deal if you don't get the cup? I know it is easier, since you don't have to wait for the bartender, but it seems like a nuisance to have to carry around.

If you don't get the cup, you can't use the coke freestyle machine or the soda fountain machines at the pools. The cups have an electric chip in the bottom of them that the machine reads, which activates the machine. This is the only way you can get soda out of the machines. Otherwise, you'd always have to get the soda from the bar. I think it's more convenient to have the cup.

  7. Anyone boarding the Allure tomorrow that could report in with maybe a picture of the alcohol package, or more detail on what the package includes? I'm really interested to see exactly what they give you when you buy the package that tells you what is and isn't included. Also, I'm interested to know if there is more than 1 package offered (classic vs. premium, or one with just beer?)
