Our tradition is this: once we get on board (room is usually not ready) we head up to the pool deck and order a drink. We might grab something from the pool side grille and just people watch till our room is ready.

We sailed on NCL Pearl last year. We were going to book on our own because it was cheaper on the web site. HOWEVER, found out that the morning and early afternoon were book solid. Only the last trip was open and we didn't want to take a chance of missing the ship. Looks like the cruise ship has a block of tickets for them.

Boarding the train is no problem. It's practically next to the ship. Was enjoyable and did it twice. Even saw a bear!!

We sailed on the NCL Jewel in May. We had a balcony next to the elevators and we didn't heard anything. Was great having the elevator so close.

When we were in the NCL Pearl, we had 9 of us but I could only book 4, 3, and 2 on line. As soon as we got on the ship, I talked to the desk that took the dinner reservations and ask if they could make it so that we would be together. They said no problem. Then I mentioned if they could sit 9 of us on one table. Again, no problem. When we got there, they had 9 sits on one table. Wasn't crowded. In other words "no problem". Bottom line, talk to them and they can make the accommodation.
