  1. chengkp75, thank you so much for your helpful information....and your street directions...I will copy it down and keep it with us... we love wading around in history items...so even checking out the doors and knobs will be interesting :) and I've wanted to see the Longfellow house..so perfect that we will be passing it too....glad to hear the streets are safe.... we enjoy walking whenever we can...but good warning on the cobblestone..if it begins to look to precarious...we can always hop a taxi for a ways then try again .... I appreciate your help ~~ :)

  2. We will be in Portland in June and we are interested in walking to Portland Architectural Salvage & Antiques at 131 Preble St. The map shows this is about one mile from downtown in the West Bayside area of Portland.

Can anyone tell me if it is safe to walk from the ship thru the downtown areas up to the salvage yard? Are sidewalks provided the whole way? Any certain route recommended where we may pass historical houses or recommended sights?

Has anyone done any antiquing or have any recommendations for other

antique stores within a walkable area of the wharf?

Thank you so much for your help ~

  3. Hello ~ We were in Vancouver last spring. We didn't get in until after 10pm and had reservations at the Best Western Sands Hotel which is right on the bay. It was about a 30 minute ride from the airport to the hotel. The next morning we were up at 9am and walked right across the street to the bicycle rental shop. We took our bikes, crossed the street and were literally right on the bicycle path for Stanley Park. It was an easy bicycle ride about 6 miles around the park. We loved it! We took our time, stopped for photos (frequently), and made our way back to the bicycle shop at about 11:30am. We left at noon for the cruise port. Oh and there's a Tim Hortons right across the street too....whatever you do...have fun!

  4. It's never too early for me to start planning a vacation...... It's part of my fun! We have sailed New England/Canada in late October...we lucked out that year as the fall foliage was late and we were able to still see some beautiful colors... when we saw June was available we jumped at the chance to do it again.. Our first time out of New York and our first time on the Gem... Yeah~!!

  5. Also, I clicked on the link for the BBB provided above and there

has been one complaint filed for Blue Diamond. It shows an "F"

    rating-with this notation:

    BBB Accreditation

On 01/28/2014 this company's accreditation in BBB was revoked by BBB's Board of Directors due to failure to participate in BBB arbitration despite pre-committing to do so.

  6. I had read so many good things about glacier smoothie soap that I ordered 11 bars off their website and they arrived quickly! I bought Fireweed and Original...both smell great..nicely packaged and less I have to buy for when I get to Alaska in May!
