  1. Will be on the Spirit in September and was wondering which night is the BBQ - I’m thinking 1st night in Bora Bora.
which island is the beach bbq?
starting to plan excursions but I don’t want to miss either.
does anyone have any excursions they recommend- either through ship or private.
    thanks.

Excursions will not be available if they interfere with events...Moto event, for example.

  2. Strange happenings on the current Spirit sailing in Asia.
On the wizard site, the listings after the 3/7 Cairns sailing have disappeared and nothing shows up until 6/1 back in Cairns. Listings were there earlier but not now.
The same sailings missing from the wizard are still shown on the main Windstar site but all state “call for availability”.
My guess is that the company is taking a look at the Benoa to Singapore itineraries and will be making some changes. A Crystal around the world cruise is now in that area in the midst of terrible storms and a number of planned dockings denied by local authorities.
The virus is obviously taking its toll on any cruises in that part of the world. What a shame.

  3. Barrycat, my girlfriend is on an 89 day Crystal cruise that left LA about a 3 or so weeks ago. They've been to Tahiti and NZ but have already been denied entry in three ports including Singapore 2 days ago. They are now in the Tasmanian Sea in 100 mph winds with two cyclones. Not pretty. The crew put extra tight sheets on their beds and they have been told to stay there. Personally I would not book Singapore or anything in the vicinity right now. I am personally not afraid of the virus but of the aggressive containment strategy including cancelling flights and ports. Good luck and happy sailing.

You are expressing the concerns that caused us to cancel a crurise from Cairns to Benoa. . It was not so much about our fear of the virus as fear of being ‘stranded’,ie, the containments which we would have no control over.

  4. My husband and I have recently returned from a Star Collector cruise on the WindSurf in the Leewards and Windwards (Caribbean). We sailed from December 23 to January 6...out of and into Barbados. Our experience was par for WindStar Cruises, with our having cruised on 25 sailings since October 2009. We are fans of this cruise line.

First point: When a "new" itinerary is opened I personally would expect there to be some glitches with ports and excursions as with the Asian itinerary. I would expect the same in Alaska and Canada. Feedback is strongly encouraged by Wind Star Cruises after each excursion and port. Such is how the star level is achieved. If they don't know, they can't fix it!

Second point: We ALWAYS use a travel consultant, one with many years of travel experience and who is affiliated with an industry leader. Our agent is our advocate, before, during and after the cruise has been completed.

Make every day a great memory!
