  1. We were on the Majesty and in Palma in June. Shuttle is free. Felt very sorry for the crew as they couldn't get to Carrifore to buy their supplies, and then they hadn't got the time to wait for the shuttle (which goes nowhere near it) BUT...

We did find a supermarket. Get the shuttlebus to the Cathedral, walk down the main shopping precinct find the large department store just past Desigual (my fav store) Its within that store underneath. (I was after my diet redbull- for those who follow my posts)

  2. What the name of the Barman? We are on next week and would like to look out for him so I can also nominate him. Would be great to get something going on here so out of nowhere he is receiving loads of nominations. On all the Thomson ships we have been on, all the staff work so hard and need recognition

  3. Not specific to the Dream, but our slightly older autistic son loves cruising. There is a written timetable to follow for mealtimes and entertainment. We let him know which trips we are doing in advance and find out as much about the trip or port before we leave England. We stick to the same restaurants and meal times. (make friends with your waiter and he will reserve the table for you each night.)

Staff will try and sort out any problems. Ours had a melt down over being questioned about his age when asking for wine at the captains night. A nearby manager stepped in and sorted it out. Couldn't ask for more. Our son had joined us on the Majesty, Spirit and Dream. The only downside was that he insisted on trying every drink on the AI bar list.

  4. if the room is important to you, yes go for a bigger cabin. Some cabins have an English plug for the tv but best of advice (due to position of plug, some phone chargers are too bulky - trust me, get there and you will understand) get a mini extension lead with two English plug sockets and one basic European adapter. (poundland for both). Majesty 5 times. love it.

  5. Thomson seem to have a new mooring in Palma Harbour and now use a shuttle bus to get people to town. It stops near the cathedral. Does anyone know how long it would take from the shuttle stop to walk round to the beach. We didn't realise it was there until we went past it on the way to the airport. Thanks:cool:

  6. Almeria - Looking to do our own thing. We have done the Mojocar trip and it looks like they have stopped the wild west trip. Can we fill a few hours in the town? Anything special to look out for?

Ceuta - The only trip I fancy is the 3 hour city tour. Has anyone been on it? They take you to a chapel but don't let you go into it? bit odd that. What about a DIY?

Barcelona - We would like to see the Sagrada Familia. What is the best website to pre order tickets? I presume a taxi from the port is the easiest transport?

    Thanks Guys

  7. There's a souk close to the marina. Also a lovely promenade along the beach front. We stayed in a hotel right at the very end .

Very friendly shopkeepers selling exactly the same things as the bigger souk mentioned previously.

    Love the haggling.

You can also take a taxi to the ruins at the top of the hill that has the writing on. Not a lot there except camels and traders, but beautiful views over Agadir.

Please could you tell me if you can walk to the Marina and the Souk you mentioned? It would answer the new thread I've just posted. Thank you

  8. We have been to Agadir twice. First we did Souk and Fantasia which was brilliant (recommended for all ages -be aware if you have a problem with snakes.... just saying)

The second time we did the MASSA 4x4 jeep. Again very good. This is the only tour that doesn't involve any shopping.

I would like to visit a souk without a time limit. Has anyone tried to get themselves to the souk without a tour. I saw that there is a short souk tour but not sure if this is a walking tour or if a bus gets you there first.

    Any advice would be great

    :)

  9. Next year we are on the Discovery 2 heading for Ceuta the Spanish enclave in Morocco. I've looked at the two short trips and will go with the city tour unless someone can tell me if we can DIY it. All I need to keep me happy is a few tacky tourist stalls or even better a souk. Maybe a castle or church would be a bonus. Any advise would be great.

  10. This is only the second time the ship has docked at this port. (dreadful copy of map from Destination services and no local information.) We held out very little hope but were pleasantly surprised. To get out of the port you need the free shuttle. The guide tried to give a commentary but her English was poor and she told us more about what the town didn't have that what it did. On arrival we were given a much better colour map and a sample of wine from a lady in costume. Great place to shop with all high street brands. Market is good for a look (fish/meat/ veg) Walk onto the park. Nice little play area for the kids. River at the end. Couple of churches. Back onto the Bus. Great few hours out and about. Actually preferred it to Alicanti.:)

  11. ... is there life in Huelva.

Hi folks. We are on moorish delights on 2nd August 2016

Never been to Huelva and can't find any information. Already doing a few tours this trip so want to do Huelva on our own. How do you get from ship to town (read somewhere is 9km? ) free shuttle or paid shuttle - Thomson like to charge for such things. Is there ANYTHING worth looking at? Any beach nearby? We tend to like looking at old churches - normally because its lovely and cool in them, or go for a paddle on the beach. And for those who follow my posts... anywhere I can buy diet redbull. Thanks:p

  12. We visited Olbia on our first ever cruise. There is one very beautiful church and thats about it. When the captain made his daily announcement. He said, I hope you had a lovely day in Olbia. It was sunny.

That just about summed it up. Even he couldn't think of anything to say about it.

  13. Well now I have taken the risk and completed this trip I can give you the full low down. This is not a full review but a need to know post. Price £54 per person (including children) if bought before trip. I think on board it was £58 per person. A full days trip and I felt good value for money.

You will need to take a light weight top for the early morning, water and sturdy shoes. Suncream and hat. You do not need towels or swimwear.

7.45am Pick up from the harbour. The jeeps are in fact landrover cruisers. We has 6 cars in our convoy. All forward facing and can seat 6 passengers.

We did far more driving than expected but we were comfortable. Many stops taking in the views with a lot of explanations. Lunch provided but not great. Very stingy on wine and water.

This is the only Morocco trip that does not include a market. Only one short opportunity to buy ceramics at the first stop. You can buy a 1.5 litre chilled water at the lunch stop for 2 euro.

MOST IMPORTANT - if you are pregnant or have a bad back or are frail, this is not the trip for you. Despite the relative comfort of the car you really get thrown about especially when driving through the sand dunes. Happy to answer any questions.

  14. We loved the double trip. Our guide recommended the food outlet at Pompeii. ( he was onto a freebie) we took a few bits with us from breakfast and ate outside. I used the sticks. A boy was asking for a tip. I gave him a euro as the sticks were brilliant. He then gave me a lovely piece of rock he had collected. So sweet. BTW make sure you have your inhaler even if you are only slightly inclined to need one as the air is thin and I really panicked. Take a jacket , it was really blowy at the top.
