One morning on the Symphony I had spilled coffee on a pair of joggers. Sent them to be cleaned but they came back with a crisp crease down both legs. Who has creases on joggers/workout pants? I never thought I would have to ask that they don't put a crease on them as if they were dress pants, and I don't know if my request for no crease would be properly conveyed to the laundry people.

Today I called the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center. I told them I was aware of that there was a limit on permits for tours to take you there as everything I looked at was booked. I told them I also looked at the "Blue Bus" but it there was no availability. The woman I spoke to said you can take a city bus but where it stops is still a mile away from the center. She suggested with taking a taxi or Uber. Although they still cannot take you directly to the Visitor Center, they can drop you off at "a" or "the" parking lot which is about a 1/2 mile walk. She also said they do not limit how many people can be there at one time and we wouldn't have any issue getting in. Its just the getting there part. So I guess we'll play it by ear once there and see if we can work out some type of arrangement with an Uber driver and see if we can agree to meet him/her at a certain time to take us back to port. Either way we won't be crushed if it doesn't work out.

I don't know as I don't bother to watch his annoying videos anymore or those of that even more annoying Youtube loser Don, the one who includes loser things from his life that have nothing to do with cruises.
Couldn't agree more. In my opinion that Tony is just full of himself and Don has some cloud constantly over his head having this problem or that problem in life.

Those types of videos are painful. Over the top and exaggerated for "entertainment" value.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Fortunately we did not book the suite expecting a Royal Genie. In fact it was the only suite left. It was when I saw that video it confused me so I thought I would ask here.

Since I don't have a youtube account someone posted that on my behalf.

How old is the video. I remember that they did some recategorizing of rooms on Q class and I think this was one of the rooms involved

Well, the guy in the video says "it's a perk of this lovely room". So that's why I'm confused.
-
Again, that's is my understanding, so why did they have a genie? Here is the video of the room we booked.
-
I know! So why did they have a genie if they were in Sky class, or does Sky class get a genie as well?
-
We have booked a Sky Loft Suite on Quantum, suite 10322. I was looking at a youtube video of this exact suite and they had a genie. I thought a Sky Loft Suite was Sky class and only Star class gets a genie. That's why I am confused.

Would you cruise if the only way you can get off the ship while in port is to take a shore excursion from the cruise line? No independent excursions and no walking around the port on your own or renting a car and exploring on your own. Thoughts? For us it would be a no go.

We will be on her first cruise after amplification so I've been following the stories regarding what will be done while she's in dry dock. While none of the changes have been confirmed by RCI, here is an article explaining some of the changes.
What is the date and itinerary for this cruise? I have a friend who will be joining Freedom as a performer. He said he would be flying to Spain a week before she sails after dry dock but he didn't know what the itinerary was other than crossing the Atlantic to San Juan.

We had an Aqua Theater Suite on Deck 11 on Symphony. You could hear the show in the living room but not the bedroom. Unfortunately the week we were on the ship they were changing over to new cast members of the show and were constantly rehearsing through each day. No movies were played on our sailing.

We were a combination of offended and shocked when our waiter said that. He was fine, the restaurant wasn't busy, food good.
-
We had dinner one night last week at Hooked on Symphony. The gratuity was included but our waiter said we were welcome to add an additional gratuity if we wanted. Really? We didn't.

I read a review of the Symphony that the app was not always correct on some things. Is there anyone here recently on Symphony that can share their experience with the app during their cruise?

Not sure about eggs at lunch. I usually ordered whatever I wanted at lunch. Then about half way through we found out we could also do that for dinner as well.
So who here has ordered something off the menu lunch or dinner?? This may vary by ship but we'll be on the Symphony.

And you would think they would change that message to say only moderators can send PM's instead of saying try again later. Oh well, not the end of the earth!
-
I definitely will!

I discovered that yesterday. You would think instead of the pop up saying "You are only allowed to post 0 messages per day. Please try again later", it would say something like "Private messages can only be sent by moderators only".

Does anyone know if you can order Eggs Benedict for lunch at CK? What about a simple turkey club sandwich?

Interesting. Every other forum I have used allows that, but if you can't here then you can't.
Juneau July 2024 - How to get to Mendenhall Glacier (not the city bus)?
in Alaska
Posted
We were there two weeks ago. We wanted to see Mendenhall Glacier but made no arrangements prior to getting off the ship. I waved down a taxi and she took us (two of us) directly to the visitors center for about 75.00 which included admission. She gave us her phone number and to call her about 20 minutes before we were ready to leave. When we were ready to leave we called and she just happened to already be there as she had just dropped off some other people. Worked like a charm. Her name was Daring (quite unique) and she was a sweetheart. She is with Juneau Taxi and her number is 502.919.3191.
