  1. Greetings to all HAL cruisers. We are considering the late October/early November 2018 transatlantic Prinsendam sailing. Of concern is the small size of the ship and the potential for rough seas. Any comments from sailors with experience on the Prinsendam during fall transatlantic crossings would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have made 5 westbound 'TA ' cruises. Various ships. Seas no problem. Never did Prinsedam but did Eurodam last year

  2. I just off same ship. Reason given was "technical issue that required ship to cruise at a slower speed than necessary to go to GC". Ship has more problems than that. IT is old and tired. For example, chaise cushions in the Serenity are are old, frayed and badly stained. I could go on but why bother. I will say the ships singers and dancers were good.

  3. We were on same cruise and generally agree with all said by SightCRR.

In Ketchikan with did the Bering Sea Crab Fishermans tour. IT is on a former "Deadliest Catch Boat".

It was more than just a tour it was an experience. We cannot say enough about it. Boat is modified for excursion with seating and infrared heaters, Crew is fantastic and informative. 3 semi retired Crab Boat Captains talk about their experiences. In addition they take you to an area where there are Bald Eagles. LOTS of them. Like pigeons in a big city.

In Juneau we got 'weathered out' of the helicopter to glacier and dog sled experience which was disappointing. In Anchorage we did the 26 glacier tour.

It was nice but would not do it again. It was too long (about 11 hours). Having been in Glacier bay on a previous cruise we did not feel that it was worth the time and money.

RE dining room. We had anytime seating. BUT you can reserve tables there for specific times. We did that most nights and with the same table. It was near the rear with a nice view of the wake. Our servers were excellent as was the entire crew. They were Putu and Wirta waiters; Mel the Wine steward(ess) a lovely young lady; and Pidi the headwaiter for that section who can make the reservations for you. We much prefer that option to fixed time dining. Say hi to her from "Bev and Ed" if you see her.

productions shows we felt weer just fair. Not because of the cast but the material. John Curry is a John Denver lookalike and sound just like him. We enjoyed his performances the most but other acts were good also particularly the singersongwriter "Heather ??" with had boundless energy.
