No, they discontinued it several years ago.  After your cruise you will receive an email offering $50 OBC if you book Early Saver within the next 2 weeks.  But you can't get more OBC booking Past Guest rate like you used to be able to do.

    Thank you for the answer.

Sorry to hear it, This is the first time we decided to book a cruise in the future before taking the present cruise.  Oh well!

We were on the inaugural sailing. I will write a review for this trip, but will answer any questions you might have while my memory is fresh.

Looking forward to your review.  Booked on the Sept. 16th cruise out of NYC, inside room.

    Quick question:

Is Carnival  still offering discounts on future cruises if booked while on board?

  3. We'll be sailing soon and I'm looking for the dinner menus on the Splendor. I've checked the search feature under splendor dinner menus and 8 day menus, found only one on the Breeze. Is it the same?

Also went to Zydecocruiser, do not see 8 day menus that are recent.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thank you.

  4. and here is when i finally saw them going after the camping crowd, with an oh so irresponsible gas container in plain sight.

I never saw these commercials, maybe they didn't play in our area. However, my cruise in 2006 on NCL was a direct result of my (disastrous)camping trip in 2005 where I declared openly (and possibly quite loudly)that my next camping trip would be on a cruise ship.

  5. Bookings can't be that strong with all the sales and price drops they've been doing lately.

I got my second price drop in a week yesterday and mentioned to my PVP that Carnival must be hurting. She said, no, they are very busy with bookings right now, the are just having great sales. Of course, I think the one, the bookings, are a result of the second, sales.

  6. Great pictures! and thank you for the info about the crew's pay, yes, the tips should be included in the fare, and I actually think of them as the last payment for the cruise. On one cruise I pulled some money from the prepay and then gave that and a little more to our steward and mdr crew, but I'll not be doing that any more, just additional tips as deserved.

Do you have any information on the Spa, such as specials and costs?

  7. New tip:

The first sea day there is a cooking demonstration (with samples) at the Steakhouse. This is a free event and will probably be the best lunch you will eat on board. Check your Funtimes and come early because it fills up fast.

    Our menu was:

    Mushroom Cappuccino Soup

Baby Leaf Spinach and Mushroom Salad

    Broiled Rosemary Infused Chicken

    Tiramisu

First, Don, glad to hear you're doing well, sorry you missed your cruise.

Second, we did this on our Miracle cruise in 2011, and it is great. The samples were decent sized, and the food was excellent. Bring video cameras for the demonstration to go with the recipes they give you (or did on ours, guessing they still do). It was not an inducement for us to go to the steakhouse as we had no intention of missing it anyway, it was just some added fun. And for the record, at least three of the four items were the same on the Miracle, just not sure about the chicken.

  8. I would guess that they do everything that they can because if they didn't excursion sales would plummet. And they probably wait for late returning excursions because it is less expensive to pay the extra port fees than it would be to get that many people to the next port (and I have actually read about few excursions running so late that the ship had to leave).

Still as a selling point goes it is interesting that what is written is at such odds with actual practice.

I was just looking at the FAQ in the excursion section for my next cruise and came across this:

    Q. Will I miss the ship if I go on shore excursions?

    A. One of the major advantages of participating in shore excursions sold through Carnival is that we closely monitor the excursion departures and returns. Therefore, we can assure you that even if there are unexpected delays on an excursion, your ship will be there when you return. Please be aware that if you make your own arrangements, or leave an organized excursion, you will be on your own and it will be up to you to make sure you return to your ship on time.

The bold and red is my doing. This is apparently a definitive statement.
