  1. Oh, I am over the theft of the magnets, if someone is pathetic enough to take someones magnets, I really pity the emptiness of their lives.

And I am not upset at them, I am upset at the security officer and how this was handled. I had not asked to speak to the security staff, I imagine they have better things to do. It was guest relations that called him in, he came, gave us a sermon, and left. Sorry, that's no way to treat paying customers, no matter how trivial their issue might be. You don't belittle customers in the service industry, period.

And yes, this is the cruise that goes through the gulf of Aden, and yes security will be busy with more serious issues than petty theft. I completely understand that. However, we're currently between Naples and Athens, and unless the security staff has 5000x magnifying glasses, I doubt they're currently scrutinizing the gulf of Aden from deck 5. ;)

Anyways, thanks for those who had words of support, as for the mandatory forum trolls with their sarcastic remarks, I have a particularly tacky magnet I'll put on my door, just for you! :p

  2. Oh the drama:rolleyes:

I appreciate your "empathy" and contribution to this thread, that was really helpful.

But considering how RC has lied and handled the many issues on board caused by the transformations to accommodate the future Chinese customers, that is an issue. We paid over 10K for both balcony staterooms, and when I pay a five-digit amount for a service, I won't accept being belittled by staff when I report a theft. Sure, it was nothing of great value, but that's irrelevant, it's a matter of principle.

  3. We are just off Celebrity Equinox transatlantic, where a guest was "arrested" for stealing.

I'm not even expecting that much, being taken seriously by RC staff would suffice. But the deck supervisor who first came to check the incident, when I asked her about checking the security footage, she had this "why are you bothering me?" attitude and just kept giving us one of the most annoyed fake smiles ever and just said yes yes yes over and over in hope of getting rid of us.

And getting lectured by the security officer really took the cake. So according to them, public areas are a free for all? He said if you put things in the corridors, it's your own fault if it gets stolen. But that's where they put the luggage on boarding day!?! Does that mean that if they embark your luggage for you, it's your risk if it gets stolen?

  4. I see it's a common problem then. (I met a lady today who got her flamingo magnet stolen). No kids on board of this cruise as far as I can tell, and unless they can reach really high, it had to be a very grown kid who took them.

We already went to guest services to report the theft (actually two thefts), and they got the security manager to come over. I expected him to say he would review the security footage, as there is a camera 10 feet from our door. Instead we got a lecture on how it's our fault for putting belongings in public areas.

I must admit that was not the reaction I had expected.

Under these circumstances I doubt they will bother to review the footage, but let's wait and see.

And to those who said they thought this thread would be about RC on-board prices, I know exactly what you mean. :p

  5. Hey everyone, just a quick warning that there currently are thieves on board of the Quantum of the Thieves (cruising from Barcelona to Dubai).

We had some of the colorful magnet signs we put on our stateroom doors stolen today. It is of course not much material value that was lost, but it sure does ruin the lightheartedness and fun of traveling on board. :(

It has never happened before on any other cruise, but it's symptomatic about how things are on board of this ship. Seriously, who steals door magnets? Pathetic.

There were warnings in the cruise planner about pickpockets in Naples, instead there should be warnings about the thieves that are on board.

Anyways, if you are currently on board, watch your belongings and don't leave anything unattended.

  6. Hello,

would you mind posting the link to the ABTA complaint form?

Because I feel defrauded by Royal Caribbean, they willfully advertise with misleading information about features on board, and they clearly do that with the intention to deceive. I mean, they still advertise Mama Mia as being on board when it's clearly not. Deceiving customers like that is clearly fraud.

Royal Caribbean has offered us nothing so far, we haven't even received the 250 Dollars on board credit offer for our leg from Barcelona to Dubai. 250 Dollars is utterly ridiculous when you think of it, it's about $7.80 per day per person, which doesn't even buy you a cocktail on board!

They really are adding insult to injury. We have two balcony staterooms, and even if we could cancel (they're not offering it), we would still lose thousands of dollars in connecting flights and hotel rooms.

Has anyone thought about filing a class action lawsuit or grouped case against Royal Caribbean. And if you're in the US, what about the Better Business Bureau? I really wonder what we Europeans can do?
