Stupid question, probably, but does anyone remember a wonderful Antarctic Cruise review by a lady (I think from England) who also blogged, so her elderly father could read about her adventures? It was posted her on Royal board, because she then flew to the states afterwards and did a Caribbean cruise . There were a ton of wonderful pictures also. I'm trying to find it for a friend who is doing a similar cruise, and wants to read it.
Thanks!

We ate at Coconut last fall, 4-50 years olds, and 2 -75 years olds, and we loved it! It's loud, but the energy level is high and the atmosphere was so fun. And the food was awesome! So lovely to sit outside and have a drink before dinner. We wished we were staying another night or two so we could go back again. If you like spicey food, ask for the "scoobie's". they are not on the menu, and only the locals are supposed to know about them, but they are awaesome! (that's all I am going to tell you!)
We had a blast bombing around town in the $3 open air cabs too. (Think big golf cart) Wishing I was cruising with you........

I recently bought a lovely lanyard at a craft show that is crystals, and looks more like jewelry than a lanyard. I don't care what anyone else thinks about it. My sea pass goes on it, I have a drink in one hand, Hubby"s hand in the other, and all is right with the world:)

Have I to pay to use it? Can I use it alone?
I think it was $45 for 3 classes, and I never saw anyone use it alone. I suppose you could, but they probably wouldn't let you use the gloves and other equipment without a trainer around.

I took 3 classes on the Freedom, in and outside of the boxing ring. They were an aero/kickboxing type class, very similar to what I take at home. The first class had 6 people, second has 4 people, and I got a private lesson for the last one, as no one else showed up :) We also used the heavy bag hanging beside the ring. Instructors name was Kearon, I think. Very nice(and cute) young man from England.
Any other questions?

Thanks kdawg! I am assuming it was clean when you were there, or you probably would have mentioned otherewise. I am not a clean freak, but don't want to bring home any new "friends":)

Has anyone stayed here recently? We are staying in Florida for 2 days after our 5 nighter on the Liberty in November, and this looks like a good location, with a bit of everything (beach, inland waterway, safe areas to walk to restaurants, etc).
And it is not too expensive. Any thoughts, opinions, suggestions? Thanks for your input!

Thank you so much, everyone, for all the suggestions! I have some wonderful suggestions to choose from now. I knew the experts at CC would steer me in the right direction. :)

I know this has probably been discussed already, but where on this site can I find hotel recommendations? We are sailing out of Port Everglades in November, having taken advantage of some of the good deals for Canadians recently advertised. (booked a JS for only about $150 more than a balcony! Can I get a WOOHOO?!) We haven't sailed out of Fort Lauderdale since our first cruise on the Enchantment back in 2005, and where we stayed pre-cruise was way too far away from the cruise port for me. Any one got any suggestions? 1 day pre and 2-3 days post cruise, with a pool, not too cost prohibitive. Thanks!
I know I could spend a lot of time gooling this, but the CC's know all the best places, and this is much faster!

We had 6 people in that room 2 years ago, ages 16,16,19, 20, 47 and 48.
The 2 boys, (16 and 18) had the bunk area, and the 2 girls had the pull out couch and DH and I had the bedroom part. We had enough room, but the kids did not have enough room for all their stuff. We ended up with clothes everywhere! It was the biggest stateroom we had ever had. But, I found being at the very front of the ship, there was just a bit too much motion for me. We sailed the week after Sandy, and the high seas were almost too much for my Bonine to handle.
-
My fussy eaters always found something to eat, even if it was cheese pasta 3 nights in a row! They had no complaints about the food, and ate well, and still found room for pizza every evening about an hour after supper. We adults aren't the only one's who gain weight! DD (who was 19 at the time) gained 4 lbs. :)

Gravol is not the same as Bonine. Gravol makes me sleepy, even the non-drowsey, and I feel slightly "stoned" the whole time. Bonine has none of that nasty side effect. Coming into Victoria, BC while on an Alaskan cruise, the sea was so rough, dishes were flying off the buffet due to the waves, and I never had a moment of nausea. Like I said, worth the hour drive over the border to the nearest Walmart to get it.

Bonine works well for me, and worth the drive over the border to get, as it is not available in Canada. Take for 1 day before leaving on trip, as it helps calm the "butterflies" while flying, and for 3 days after, to calm the "stillness illness". Otherwise I'd have to miss a week of work, just trying to get my land legs under me again.:)

Yup, that's exactly like the one on Freedom.
To solve the shower issue, all the teens went up one floor to the fitness area and showered there, as there were around 4-5 showers in there that no one ever used. They then ran back down, and got dressed for dinner. We were all able to get dressed at the same time.

We sailed Freedom last November, in the family ocean view 9200.
I take bonine too, as I suffer from motion sickness , and the room was fine until
we got the second storm that came up after Sandy. I found it very hard to deal with, and it put a bit of a damper on the last couple days of the cruise. The room itself,Fantastic! Huge! loved it, was the biggest room I'd ever had on a cruise. And I had 4, yes 4 teenagers in there with us. lots of closet space, but most of their clothes ended up on the floor anyways! typical teens!::rolleyes:

Drama Queen, you are making me re-think my position of never going on a ship that size. I had no interest in even looking at the Allure, until I saw your review, and having read a couple others, (and thoroughly enjoying them,) I decided to read this one. You are making the ship seem so much more appealing! It's going to be tough now to decide which ship to go on next. I was thinking of the Jewel, and hubby was thinking Celebrity anything, but the Allure is now in the running, mostly because of your pictures of Central Park. I can't wait to read the rest! It is taking me away from the winter that just won't end, here in southern Ontario.
