  1. We took our kids on an Easter Sun sailing way back in 2010. I can't remember enough to specifically answer your questions but we recall a special Easter menu in the main dining room, there was an Easter bunny making rounds on the pool deck one day and like others said small decorations around the ship. This was a long time ago and things change for better or worse but this was one of our fondest cruises with our kids. We been on the Sun a few times and she is a wonderful ship!

  2. My family and I have stayed in this hotel before. We stayed the night prior to our cruise, left car onsite with no issues for the week and took their shuttle to the port which was efficient . The hotel was very busy and dirty and appeared to be an old property however for the price we paid it served the purpose for us.

  3. This does not directly answer your question however I can share my experience traveling recently on a river cruise. We just got back this week from a Viking cruise on the Seine.. myself and wife 41 and two sons, 16 and 14. Our fellow travelers were much older, some would not speak and others were very friendly..we had a great time regardless of the age difference. I would expect to find most passengers to be 60 and above and most looking to mingle with folks closer to their age. We really did enjoy the cruise!

  4. We booked and paid in full for our cruise and air in August 2016, any idea when Viking will ticket us so we could choose our seats. We are flying Air France from Chicago to Paris on April 1, 2017.

Merry Christmas and thanks for your help.

    Cheryl

Good question, we were wondering the same thing. We will be returning from Paris on Air France the same day you arrive. What ship you traveling on?

  5. Island cuisine in Southampton is a small place that many locals frequent. It has great food at very reasonable prices...try the seafood platter! We spent a week in Bermuda recently with friends and they eat here often, highly recommended.

  6. Most liquor stores sell Kalik by the case. I have visited Nassau many times, by cruise and resort stays..I have bought cases of Kalik at many different stores and it has always been 48.00 - 50.00 for a 24 count case. I have not seen it sold by the six pack. We visited Nassau in March on the MSC Divina and brought a case of Kalik back on the ship. Since it was our last night, we brought it right to our room...no problem.

Funny story...as we were lugging this case of beer back though the crowds to the ship many locals yelled "that beer is only good in the Bahamas!" We just laughed but as I have over half a case of it sitting in my kitchen floor that we cannot bear to drink, I will tell you that guy knew what he was talking about!

  7. Interesting. A few years ago we did Viking and they were willing to go ahead and purchase tickets early at our request--we'd already paid for them, so why not?

Last year we cruised with Vantage (prepaid a year early to get a 10% discount). They did an early purchase so that we could go ahead and select seats. This year we'll be sailing with Avalon, and they were willing to purchase tickets as soon as we booked and paid. No extra charges with either line.

I can understand not purchasing if the customer hasn't paid in full, but once you've paid, it only seems fair that the cruise line would be willing to go ahead and buy the tickets.

Did you pay an additional fee to have Viking book your tickets early after payment in full?

  8. Thanks for posting the review Wayne.

Sounds like the issues you had with the passenger info mix up on the web site didn't cause you any trouble during the cruise?

Divina is a beautiful ship, we hope to sail again before its sent back to the Mediterranean...

  9. Looking forward to the review Radio! Myself, wife and four sons sailed the Divina last month and loved it! Defiantly has its differences to other lines but you are in for a treat! From what I have read and experienced, it seems like MSC provides a better cruise with each sailing. ( we had major problems with the website and other passengers info assigned to our booking, hope that didn't happen to you)

    Have a great cruise!

  10. Thank you for the comprehensive report! Though this post is older, I'm going on the same itinerary in November on the Viking Kadlin and it's been very helpful! :)

    I agree...very nice report.

We will be on this itinerary on the Kadlin in March 2017, please be sure to post how you experience is!

  11. Sorry, back to work got the best of me. I'm going to try to finish this review today :).

Let's talk food, which is super subjective. I did not choose the 2.5 hour "You'll eat when I tell you to Eat" plan - aka assigned seating in the MDR. I was assigned to early seating which is 5:30. Seriously, the sun hasn't even set at 5:30. I did stand in a pretty long line at embarkation to speak to the restaurant manager about changing to late seating and obtaining a table for one. Let's just say, he was less than friendly or accommodating. In the end, I told him no worries, I'd eat at the buffet. In all fairness, this was probably the least customer friendly exchange I had all week. Basically, the restaurant vibe was, 'you'll eat when we tell you to eat and with whom we tell you to eat". I was able to obtain a table for one once during lunch, but was refused a table for one in the mdr for breakfast. No biggie, I can be sociable when needed, but this was indeed, an odd exchange from a customer standpoint.

As a result, I choose to take nearly all my meals at the buffet and found the breakfast buffet more than delicious. There is a gentleman cooking omelettes, but you need to go outside next to the pool for those. Mostly I stuck with the oatmeal and fruit which was really good.

Here are some breakfast buffet photos:

No Salmon, but there was herring for those that like seafood at breakfast. And the usual cold cut section for breakfast that seems more prevalent in European culture.

The meat was bacon or sausage every day.

Hey Bermuda...great review! We were on that sailing with you and I just wanted to pop in and say those breakfast sandwiches at the buffet with the egg on English muffin were the best! I happily stood in line for them every morning.

  12. We did self debarkation last Saturday as well. I have one piece of advice though...

I made the mistake of assuming my card used for on board purchases would be automatically charged for my remaining balance and that was not the case. Myself and family were stopped at the final point of leaving the ship and directed to a cashier to swipe our card again to pay the balance.

My mistake for assuming that would be taken care of automatically (I even went to guest services the night before to check the balance and just assumed they would charge the card I used previously ). At guest services is when I should have settled it. I just don't recall it being handled this way on other lines and many others were being called out as well, otherwise debarkation flowed pretty fast!

  13. I was in my balcony on the Divina in Nassau looking over at you wondering the same thing! I was looking to book the cruise you were on but decided on the Divina due to price, beautiful ship, and was interested in trying something different. I am glad we did, it was a great cruise. I enjoyed the food but I will eat anything. Shows were outstanding, I have three teenagers and they had a great time. We have cruised NCL a couple times before and has been one of our favorite cruise lines. While all lines have differences, we think this cruise was on par with NCL.

  14. My info! LOL. I will update my reservation AGAIN after you return from your cruise. Looking forward to hearing how you like the ship.

Hey Wayne, I didn't get your tickets yet but if my info is still on your profile I'm sure I will!

I appreciate you waiting until I return to try again at getting me off your profile. I was able to have most of your info removed from mine...I just hope you don't pop back up by Saturday!

I will be sure to let everyone know how it goes.

  15. Wow...that's cutting it close. Did you get them directly from MSC, or through your travel agent? (If you used one...)

We booked directly through MSC. We were one of the unfortunate ones with other passengers info on our profile. They eventually fixed it and sent our tickets.

  16. Called in to MSC earlier and hopefully had a very helpful rep in reservations. She patiently went through the problem and fixed the incorrect information that showed up inside the "my booking" area. Unfortunately that fix somehow pushed my new friend in VA (we are the one's "sharing" a booking) to my profile. I updated my profile and now his data is gone or at least playing hid and seek until next week :)

though we did nothing with my wife's profile, her new passport number is "birth certificate" and has issue/expire dates of my birthday this year and next. CRAZY!!!! My MIL ad her friend are going with us. At least their reservation is still correct.

Just refreshed our page and nothing changed, same wrong info attached to my bookings. My profile still correct. We too have two cabins and based on Wayne's issues, and given my other cabins info remains correct, I am going to leave well enough alone and check in...fingers crossed I can get on the ship given my booking info does not match my passport.

We are set to sail next Saturday and will let everyone know if this issue everyone is experiencing leaves us on the dock!

  17. We booked two weeks ago and everything has been just fine with our reservation until last night. I kept my name and passport information but my demographics switched with someone in VA. I called him as I had his phone number. He pulled up his reservation and had my demographics. I did another web check-in hoping to recover my demographics. Instead the website emailed all confirmation to him which contained all of our information. We agreed to forward any emails from MSC to each other if needed. Today I will try to get everything corrected.

    Hi Tom!

I am wondering what happens when I order drink tickets or any other pre-cruise purchases if this can't be fixed.

I would not book any drink packages connected with the room that has the incorrect information. I have read posts from other passengers finding beverage packages showing up on their booking they did not order and MSC telling them they will honor it to them anyway. Unless the one whom actually bought it does not have some real proof they paid for it, my guess is it will be difficult to get MSC to give it to them..

Wayne, If you have a second cabin without this mix up, book drink packages, etc in connection to that cabin. I hope you have more luck than I did in trying to get this resolved. While trying to contact our MSC consultant today to get our issue resolved, we are not getting any return calls or emails....

  18. I recommend to call again and make sure they have your names listed and spelled correctly for your booking. We were able to log in initially then after a while I could not. Later found out after getting our loyalty match they accidentally removed my name and replaced with another passenger, they corrected it right away and I could log back in.

  19. 9252 is nicely situated on the rear hump, starboard side. It should be a quiet location.

The cabin is a standard balcony cabin

192 sq. ft. (168 living; 24 bathroom) 42 sq, ft. balcony.

It's close to the rear bank of lifts so it's convenient for the MDRs, but it's a long hike to the theatre.

Full 180 degree views , no affect from the overhang , no lifeboats looking down.

    A very good location

    Pete

    That's great....thanks!!

  20. Hey Pete, I know you have covered a lot of cabins on this thread already however I would like to bother you one more time with your knowledge of the MSC Divina. We have booked cabin 9252 and hoped you would give your insight as to the location, room and balcony size, view, etc on this location.

Thanks in advance for your expertise!
