Clay or JMO, could you confirm that at Harpa, you can just go outside and walk around once you've  checked in?  And how do they do the buses once they start running to the ship - just form a line and get onboard when you can, I assume?

    Hi

We used Viking Air and so had the transfer to Harpa before going to the ship.  First, our plane was held up at least 45 minutes on the tarmac waiting on a gate, and then it was certainly 40 minutes if not longer.  There were Viking reps in Baggage Claim and outside to take us to the bus.  Then it was probably a 30 minute drive to downtown where we sat again waiting to pull up to the building.  That said, we had no time other than to check in and then have a bit of the brunch they offered.

They had however told us what time our bus would live Harpa so that if we chose we could wander a bit and just return in time to take the bus to the ship.  Having gotten no sleep on the plane, we opted to just relax at Harpa for the brief time we had after checking in.

We did not use the shuttles from the ship so not able to comment on that.

    Travel safe,

    Susan

Quick question - where do you go to sign up for Manfredi and Chef's Table reservations?  Used to be upstairs but heard earlier it was down on 1st level.  Also. how do you get on a wait list for an excursion that's full?  We are going out on July 27.

This afternoon, the desk handling restaurant reservations is on Deck 1, next to the area where they are handling Shore Excursions.

  3. Like Emeraldlake, we haven't used that app but often use visitacity when we travel.  This app gives you tours to choose from based on number of days in a given city, with options for "easy going"  or "family".  Once you have the tour ( based on your starting point) you are able to edit to delete sites you might not be interested in or add something you want particularly to see.  I noticed GPSmycity has in-app purchases possible; to the best of my knowledge, we have never wanted anything that was not available in the app.

  4. We have had our sparkling wine changed for a chardonnay, at no charge.  I don't recall ever being asked before we sailed, but the butler has always changed it when I asked.  My husband doesn't drink so the bottle lasts; I asked the butler and the cabin steward to replace the ice in the wine chiller morning and evening.  They are always most accommodating.  You should also reach out to the Shoreside Concierge for any and all special requests you might have.  We need distilled water and extension cord for CPAP and have always arranged that ahead of time thru the concierge.

  5. Hi,

My husband and I both use C-PAP machines; we advise Celebrity of our needs about two months before we sail. On some trips, the appropriate cords are already in our cabin when we board, along with a gallon of distilled water. On other trips, one request made to our butler and the cords and water are in the cabin when we return from dinner. We have never needed a converter for the C-PAPs. The ship has always taken care of everything.

    Enjoy your cruise.

    First-time cruiser here!

My husband and I will be traveling with friends on Celebrity Solstice in August to Alaska. We're staying in a Sky Suite (although there might be an upgrade to a Celebrity Suite in the works, we'll see what happens), and I've been reading about the electrical outlets (or the lack thereof) in the room. One thing that stood out is the fact that they are 110 volt, and people have talked about converters. My husband has a C-PAP machine he uses to sleep, and I'm wondering if we need some sort of outlet converter to make sure he gets the right amount of electricity to run his C-PAP while sleeping. Otherwise it's going to be a LONG trip for me.

I had assumed that it would be the right outlet for his machine, but now I'm not so sure. We've used a converter in Europe, do we need to have it on the ship? Also, are there enough plugs to charge our numerous electronics (two cell phones and an Apple Watch)? Any suggestions would be helpful. I'll be honest, I don't know enough about volts and wattage to be completely sure that we'll be able to run everything that we need for the evening. Thank you for the help!

  6. Hi

My husband and I have enjoyed Luminae on many cruises. The dress code in Luminae is the same as in the main dining room. With the new Evening Chic replacing Formal nights, you will see the full range on the gentlemen, tuxedos to suits to blazers to a very few men without jackets. My husband has not taken a suit for a few years now, but always wears a blazer, occasionally but not always with a tie. The range of dress for the women is the same. Hope you have a wonderful cruise.

Am in a Sky Suite on Celebrity Infinity Alaska departing May 27th 2018. Is there a dress code for men in the Luminae Restaurant on formal nights, i.e. do I need to pack a formal jacket?
