  1. I'm going on Navigator March 25th for the Western Caribbean to Costa Maya and Cozumel. Would you remember if they offered a Beer sampling event on a sea day? It's not showing up on the cruise planner. We went on Indy in Dec and it was offered. It was a hit!

As far as your original post, I felt similar to my Indy experience in Dec. It wasn't the worst and I did get my money's worth but it wasn't the WOW experience of past cruises. There was a lack of organization and communication between the ship's staff concerning Compass events and dining experience. We had to wait almost 1 hour from ordering our food to it being served to us. Several times in the MDR, they never took our drink orders or asked if we wanted tea or water. I had chalked it up to the staff being in training or something for the larger ships. As far as events, times were messed up and the events was not suppose to be listed for that cruise.

  2. I sailed on the 12/7/17 Indy before the Noro outbreak. I am not a first timer with RCI. Many small details seemed to be an issue on this cruise ( lack of communication about events in the Compass, and long waits between courses for meals in the MDR and speciality restaurants.) I heard several passengers who were diamond and above discuss how the overall experience was less than in past cruises. I did wonder about an outbreak the day before we departed. Seas were semi-rough and barf bags were placed around the ship. I saw one room attendant and other staff disinfecting a room. Despite all these, I did make the best of it and will be giving RCI another chance on the Navigator soon.

  3. I was on the Indy for the 12/7/17 cruise. Despite some issues with dining and an event typo in the Compass, I would definitely go back. It ended up being one of the most relaxing cruises out of all I have taken. I will have to agree with others that wait time in the MDR was slow but the staff was friendly and wanting to please. It took 3 hours to be served in Giovanni's on night 2. Service wasn't up to the normal RC standards.

  4. Ship - Independence

    Deck - 7

    Stateroom # - 7579

    Stateroom Category – Promenade view

Starboard or Port Side - Portside midship

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – You could hear the entertainment but it was muffled. It didn't bother us. It was very quiet for the most part.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - yes

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Great view of the Promenade. It was 2 decks above the Pub, so no noise from it. You could see both bridges where entertainers performed.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? -

    Was wind a problem? -

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No problems other than make sure the curtains are closed when changing or being romantic. A couple provided quite a show before realizing it.

Any other comments? - I would book this room again in a heartbeat.

  5. My view is more of a business one dealing with the financial end. If people cancel before CCL makes a final decision, CCL keeps the profits. No revenue lost on their end. This is bad for the ones who even with insurance won't get refunds if CCL doesn't cancel. One of my party is in this situation. Fortunately, the travel insurance I purchased allows me to cancel for any reason up until the day of embarkation with a full refund. This insurance will cover what CCL doesn't. So, I waiting to see if CCL will offer us a credit towards a future cruise or shorten our trip. When Friday comes and IF CCL hasn't made a decision, I know the call I'll be making.

Any other comments? - We had the divider opened between the two rooms and it was perfect! If you close the door properly, then the room is extremely quiet. If you are a people watcher and lover of violin and easy music, this is the room for you.

  8. Just off Oasis today, we did not buy the new packages. For three adults, we average around $50 a day all together. My husband usually had two beers a day, my daughter and I one $10.00 alcohlic drink a piece. When I get home I plan to post the current drink menus from the various bars on board.
