We are booked on the Splendor 7 night Mexican Riviera leaving August 9 and I'm wondering which nights are the formal nights? I would like to book a steak house reservation, but want to make sure I don't book that on a formal night.

    Thanks in advance!

You mean August 10 right?  LOL

  2. So do both guest also receive the gifts?  My daughter and I are booked on my premier offer, she has never sailed before.  From what I understand is that I will get the Funplay, both will get the DOU cards but I keep seeing conflicting information about the gifts and entries for the drawings.

  3. I received an Upsell Offer via email for my cruise in August.  I had originally booked an oceanview and liked my location.  The offer was for a very small amount of money and moving to a balcony.  I clicked on the link and the balcony they were offering was in the very front of the ship with the main show theater directly below it...no thank you!  I called and spoke to a wonderful PVP and she gave me many other options for balcony cabins so I booked one in a much better location.  I am pretty happy as this will be my first balcony ever!  I think most of these offers are for undesirable cabin locations so I wanted to share that it is sometimes possible to call and get more cabin options.

  4. I just had the pleasure of teaching my 5 year old granddaughter the "DOUBLE DIGIT DANCE!"  because we cruise in 99 days!  LOL  She looked at me like I'm a total dork, but she still loves Grandma!!!  Anyone else have fun (or dorky LOL) little things to help count down to your cruise?

No luggage on the escalators started when the Dome was remodeled.  We did a January cruise before the remodel was finished, took our luggage up the escalator without an incident.  We sailed out of the Dome the day she was officially opened, no go with up the escalator.

Major PITA for those of us who carry on and the elevator decides to stop working.

Maybe they changed it since the Ramp of Death has been installed.
(Where the heck are the stairs in that place?)

Any word about parking when the Panorama sails out of Long Beach?

I'm intrigued!!  What is the "Ramp of Death"???  I've sailed out of Long beach but only prior to the Dome Remodel.  Please fill me in!!

  6. The "Towel Animal Takeover"  on the Lido deck has been really early in the morning on my cruises...if you are not an early riser you may never see it!  I wish they advertised it as I will have my granddaughter with me next cruise and she would love it!  But she is NOT an early riser!  LOL

Did any random cruisers write funny things or draw funny pictures on your board?

NO not on that one, it was inside our cabin.  I'm afraid of what random cruisers might write if there was a dry erase board on our cabin door.  I'm sure people have plenty of funny stories about that!!!  LOL

This actually made me LOL. But if you write over the ink with dry erase markers, it should erase right off. (I know for a fact it works for permanent marker, haven't tried in ink, but I suspect it would work just the same)- Unless of course you love it as a funny cruise memory!

I actually tried that, but there is an actual indent from the ball point pen.  Cheap $ Store dry erase board!  LOL!  We still use it because it makes me laugh!

we bring dry erase markers.  Great to write notes / messages on mirror to other cabin mates,  to the room steward and to yourself.

I brought a magnetic dry erase board on my last cruise and wrote a note to the cabin steward on it with the dry erase pen that was hanging with it.  The cabin steward answered with a nice note IN BALL POINT PEN!  I now have a dry erase board that permanently says "I bring the ice thank you" on it!  LOL

We cruised when our grandson was 5....We went with our son and his GF . Our Grandson didn't show much interest in the kids program (we didn't force him) and usually stayed with us and played in the water park area (we cruised on the Breeze). In the evening he would watch the movie on Lido deck with his dad and /or retired early with my wife (who is not a night owl). This worked out perfectly as it allowed my son and his GF to enjoy the nightlife each evening . However...if young and old like the night life...fingers crossed your granddaughter takes to the evening program and night owl offering!!

I'm hoping she will like the kid's club, and I think she will.  This is a Premier cruise for my daughter and I so it sounds like my daughter may miss out on the cocktail reception on the first night, and maybe some of the drawings in the casino.  I'll have to compare the Premier schedule and the Kids Club schedule once we get onboard.  We will have to plan out our "family time" and our "adult time" lol.

When I traveled with my kids we would put clothes together, shirt, pants, underwear etc., in a bundle and it was ready just to grab and put on. No need to look for something that matched as it was already done.

My granddaughter will ONLY wear dresses for about the past year, so that's easy when it's warm!  Not so much when it's winter and we have to deal with tights or leggings under those dresses :-)

  12. Thanks so much for the replies!  My granddaughter is very social and thrives on structure so I think she will want to go to camp ocean a lot.  I seem to remember on previous cruises when I didnt have a little that the kids club staff were on the Lido deck when we embarked getting kids fired up and registering them etc.  Do they still do that?

  13. I've been on several cruises with hubby but this time I'm booked with my daughter and granddaughter (turning 5 during cruise)  we're excited for family time and also adult time! Granddaughter will love kids club but I'm not finding info on the "nominal fee" for night owls.  Anyone with experience cruising with littles???  Would love your input!!!
