  1. Hi all

I'm booked on the QE for Xmas and New Year (woohoo!) and wanted to book some salon appointments in advance. I can see how to do this on VP but it's showing no availability for everything. I am hoping that this is just a glitch rather than everything is already booked up. Any thoughts/experience with this? I'd rather not wait until on board as I know it will be busy, particularly for formal eves...

    Regards

  2. Thanks so much everyone for taking the time to reply. I appreciate all the hints on how best to book my flights.

I have now actually booked some flights with Celebrity - the good thing is that I can still shop around as they can be cancelled without penalty until payment. We managed to get LHR - Miami (Econ) and San Diego - LHR (premium econ) for £1180pp. Not a fantastic price but I think it's the outbound flight (Easter holidays) that's causing the price hike.

In response to why I didn't just book direct if it's cheaper - it's because I wanted the peace of mind/protection that a package offers in case of delays, etc. Also, I like the idea of not paying for the flights so far in advance.

Thanks again everyone - it's definitely given me lots of ideas about how to look for the best deal.

  3. Hello all

We are booked for our first Celebrity cruise in April 2017 (Panama Canal) and now that flights are available for that time, I would really like to book them so it's all sorted. As it's Easter, I think that the earlier I can book, the better.

I've checked with Celebrity and they were able to quote a couple of airlines but I'm really disappointed that their prices are not competitive with what we would pay to book direct with e.g. BA or Virgin. Even economy flights are coming out at £1k plus per person (with Premium Economy at £1500 per person). Is this normal? Usually we sail from Southampton, but have done a couple of Transatlantic crossings for which Cunard offered a really great rate for the single flight.

Does anyone from the UK have similar experience and can offer any tips/hints for a cheaper airfare? Am I better waiting (despite it being Easter) to book? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Regards

    Sarah

  4. I'm in the UK and have done this. You can only change to a cruise of the same or higher price. There is also £100 admin fee for changing. I believe this was per booking not per person.

  5. Thanks both for your quick replies to my question.

I also like paying for the excursions in advance but we have managed to get quite a bit of on board credit with this booking, which is why I was thinking about waiting until on board. Having said that though, I'm sure we'll manage to spend the credit in other ways without any problem! :D

I don't like the idea of paying more for exactly the same on board, along with the risk that my chosen excursions may not be available. Think I'll just book them now and be done with it!

  6. Hello everyone

Normally we book excursions in advance through the Voyage Personaliser. I was thinking about waiting and doing this on board next month. I heard however that prices are higher if you book onboard though, although I've never checked this myself. Does anyone know if this is the case? If so, approximately how much more?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

  7. Hello everyone

My first Cunard cruise with the new dress code is coming up (Christmas on QV). I note from the Voyage Personaliser that there are only 2 categories of dress code for evenings now: formal and informal. I'm fine with formal but could use some advice regarding informal. This only relates to female - male seems more straightforward.

My interpretation is that new formal = old formal & old semi-formal. New informal = old elegant casual.

Given that there are only 4 formal nights on my cruise, I'd be disappointed not to have opportunity to wear something quite dressy (e.g. cocktail dress, which was something previously commonly seen on semi-formal nights). My question is about overdressing really. Perhaps someone who has cruised under the new dress code would be kind enough to describe how things are different now (if they are?) than with the old dress code? Dressing for dinner is a big part of cruising for me, so I am hoping the general consensus is that people are more semi-formal than casual...

Really appreciate your thoughts and experience with this query.

    Kind regards

    Sarah
