If the passenger cancels, I would believe they would lose OBC. If Carnival cancels them, they would be able to keep it. This has been the going cadence for a while now. This is why I believe it is wrong to even draw out the process. They should have started with 0% issues by going vaccine only. Nothing wishy-washy about it. You know immediately whether you can go, the OBC and stuff can be handled, and a date in the future (say Nov 1 for lack of better date) is the first opportunity for unvaccinated passengers. This way no one is in limbo, there is no need for an exemption process, and no risk "day of" being told you can't sail. How nice would that be to show up at the terminal because your flight was late, get there at 2PM, and the cruise line saying you cannot be checked in because they are at the 5% threshhold. Because your plane was late, it was no fault of the cruise line, we will give you a nice FCC instead. Enjoy your week!!!

I rebooked and kept my obc, plus they moved my deposit so no out of pocket.

  2. We are considering parking at Fulton Place parking garage and taking the shuttle. Has anyone used this parking and were you pleased. When making the reservation, there is a place to enter a coupon code, does anyone have this code? Taking the Dream on August 13th. Thank you

  3. No I can't. You have 95% of the rooms to pick from on a cruise, I have 5% and I have to worry if some AB is going to book it before me. Absolutely Carnivals fault

    BUT

That is the reality of a HC person yet we are called "insensitive and selfish" "getting our own way" and told "think how disappointed the abled bodied person will be if they have to move" ..

    The words on this thread.

    Not mine.

When I see HC people being called the above by healthy abled bodies because all they want is an HC room so they too can have a cruise..

Yes it makes me a little upset.

As for being mean/vindictive, I didn't judge you based on your post don't judge me based on mine.

Added as a side note to clarify - If there are NO other rooms available for the AB then yup go for, book the HC room and dont allow a bump, but we ARE talking about bumping which means there is an equal or greater value of room IS AVAILABLE to that AB person. SO really I am not sure why we would be called selfish, inconsiderate etc. The AB would move to the same value room or better.

No one can tell me the difficulties of being disabled. I have a 33 year old son, with Cerebral Palsey from birth. He is a Carnival Platinum member, and we have never booked into a HC room to "bump" someone out. We book early enough to get the desired room or find another cruise and another time, there are plenty to choose from.

If the table was turned and you booked a year in advance to be moved at the last minute it appears you would use your "handicapped status" to your advantage - yet you rant that you want to be treated equally. I am 100% in favor of concessions for those less able bodied - but not when it is used as an excuse for entitlements.

  4. I am going to be nice and not say how I feel about people booking a handicap cabin that don't need them BUT... I will tell you that on one of our past cruises, which we booked 2 weeks prior to the cruise, YES, we moved someone who was in the handicap cabin.

My PVP put us on hold, called Special Services to make sure the passengers in their didn't need the handicap cabin, and moved us in... I guess it was so last-minute that the those passengers free drink coupons were in our cabin when we arrived...

Does it happen often, probably not... but it does happen

Thank you for NOT saying how you feel Elaine515 about booking into a handicapped room when we are not handicapped, however, you did get your point across. Personally, as I stated before:

I have an adult handicapped son who travels with us often and would NEVER bump someone out of a room they selected before me - if there was no handicapped room available I would adjust by making due with a different cabin or upgrade to a suite to accommodate him.

If Carnival allows this room to be booked in the first place, they should honor the booking or leave these rooms open until a certain date. I can't imagine how the party who was in your room felt when they were bumped at the last minute, possibly a bit disappointed, but at least you got what you wanted.

  5. Looks like we are on the same cruise! Feb 9 & Feb 20 on the Triumph. We selected cabin 4J because of the ability to have the same room for both cruises. The room we selected on the Panorama deck allows for the beds to be put together to a king. We have never been in a 4J it will be a new experience for us as well. I am not worried about the motion, I bring an arsenal of meds - patch, ginger, sea bands you name it. I like the location as it may be quiet even though we will be under the fitness center.

I am just excited about having this room with the deck outside my window. The room we selected is slightly smaller that the other 4J's designated as handicapped. I guess it is a wait and see. Personally, Carnival should not allow the booking if there is the chance of bumping, I can only assume that the room that we would be bumped into is one that is "left over" and less desirable. I selected deck 10 because we don't want to be on deck 2 ocean view.

With this being said, I would never want to prevent someone from having a handicapped room if they are truly in need of one. We have a handicapped adult son who travels with us quite often and understand their needs first hand. We have NEVER bumped anyone out of a handicapped room we adjust. If someone selected that room before us, paid their deposit for it, they apparently want that room and should have it -

  6. We are booked into a handicapped accessible room for both legs of a B2B. Carnival agreed to allowing us to book the room so we could have the same room for both cruises and not have to move, but there is always the possibility of being reassigned.

Has anyone ever been bumped out of a room and reassigned? We really want to stay in the same room for both cruises and this category was the only available with the same cabins open for both cruises, however, we would never penalize someone who really needed the handicapped room from being in it. Just wondering what our odds are.....

I know that if we get bumped it would be to an ocean view room but we don't want to land on deck 2 - we are now on deck 10 and are loving it.

    Thoughts anyone?

  7. We did our first Royal Caribbean in March on the Navigator of the Seas, we have been on Princess, NCL and Carnival.

I must say, we were not impressed with RCCL - it was the little things that we missed, such as a robe in our room, a simple pen to write with, little amenity basket and if you don't ask for ice, you don't get any. You cannot take non-alcoholic beverages on board, we like to bring bottled water. The entertainment was fair, other than the ice show. The excursion desk staff were rude and not very helpful.

The ship was beautiful and the food was very good, however, we missed not being on Carnival - we are back to Carnival for a 21 day Caribbean and can't wait. If given the choice, RCCL would be my last, it would have to be smoking deal for us to book and try RCCL again.
