Thank you everyone for your input and advice. Unfortunately all the ship’s excursions are fully booked and I’ve been unable to contract with any private person or company. I will keep trying, however, and the suggestion from Thejuggler about a possible bus route seems promising. Thank you for that.

We are on the July 10 Icelandic, Scotland, British Isles tour. We will be in Portree, Isle of Skye, on July 14 for about 5 hours. I have been unable to hire any driver to show us some of the most iconic sites. Everyone is booked - every tour guide, taxi driver, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions to help us?

Thank you so much to those who responded to my query. We still have some choices and decisions to make, so I will continue my research.

3 couples in their mid60s, pretty active, are looking to take our first river cruise this August or October. Thoughts on which month is preferable? Does it make a difference if we do Prague - Budapest or is the reverse better? These seem to be fairly comparable boats/amenities, but i am not sure. Open to other suggestions. Thanks so much for any advice.:)
