  1. the last night of your cruise, your cabin attendant will issue new luggage tags to you. On those tags will be a no. that will correspond to which deck, gangplank, and terminal your luggage will be sent to. It is extremely well coordinated and very easy to follow. A couple of days into the cruise you will be asked what time you wish to leave the ship and if you are using self disembarking. They use that info to assign the no. on your tag. Very very easy. My family of five was off the ship and had our luggage within 20 minutes.

  2. Just got back to the US after a wonderful 10 day trip. Bw and i both in our 70's, and 3 grandkids[gc], 17, 17, 16. I am just going to review the ship part of the trip.

day 1, arrived at the terminal around 11am. Boarding took no more than 15-20 minutes, Very efficient and easy. The Symphony is a wonder to behold. The artwork, layout, elevators etc. are just great in every way. Bw and i ate lunch in the solarium. Gc's went to Loco fresh, dog house, and windjammer. Everyone was happy. Cabins opened at 1pm. We had a balcony midship [12220]. The go's had a central park balcony[12303]. The bathroom a little on the small side, but functional. Great shower. The shampoo they have is a combination with conditioner, no body lotion supplied. The room had plenty of drawers and hanging space. The only negative is the stupid mattress. the room is narrow and the mattress is rounded at the foot. I couldn't even get my suitcase past it. WE all went to the pool deck and enjoyed the slide, pool, and hot tubs.

I know that there many threads talking about being badgered to buy drink packages, we did not have that experience at all. Two of my gc's got soda packages, we just paid for drinks as we used them.

We had booked late seating but changed to my time dining about month before the cruise. We had private tours booked for the entire cruise. Depending on the return time we made reservations for dinner every night in the main dining room. I would highly recommend spending the time doing this. They honer reservations, we never waited more than a couple of minutes. Our times ranged from 7:30-8:30 every night.

I'll continue later today. If you have any questions i will be glad to answer them.

  3. Yes, that's what will happen

The port is Molo Garibaldi and you will be bussed from the ship a short distance to the cruise terminal building at Largo Michele Fiorillo. It's about 15 minutes walk to the train station from there.

Incidentally they have a very good set-up in the terminal building with very helpful Tourist Information officials. You can even buy tickets for the Cinque Terre ferries to prevent having to queue in the scrum at the ferry ticket office.

we have a driver for a private tour. will he meet us at the ship or will we have to take a bus to the terminal?

  4. Some further questions from me :)

    1. Between what times is My Time Dining ?

    2. Do you have to reserve dining time in advance or can you do it on the day or just turn up. If i'm doing other things i may not want to curtail the experience just because of a pre-arranged reservation.

    3. If anybody has done the "exclusive" trip to Rome, are the tickets for the Coliseum and Sistine Chapel skip the line ones or do you have to queue up with Joe Public once you get there ? Infact that question extends to any of the shore excursions.

Some advice and guidance would be much appreciated.

    Many Thanks

you should go on line and reserve and pay for coliseum skip the line or you could be on line for a very long time. Google coliseum skip the line for the web site

  5. I have been reading the reviews on the new Symphony. I can't get over the amount of bad to very mediocre complaints about the food. I don't think most of the reviewers were being picky since they mostly raved about everything else on the ship. The MDR seems to have the worst of the reviews. we are going on the Aug19th sailing. I guess i will find out for myself. My bw and i sailed last Feb out of Dubi on RC. The food was not great but also not awful. If this trip produces the kind of food many seem to be complaining about, it will probably be our last RC cruise.

  6. Remember kids or adults that are active and especially in climates like the Caribbean, if that's where you are going, tend to drink a lot more than when not cruising.

You are also not supposed to share packages.

When getting drinks, and I don't care if it is just water, from a bartender, a tip every once in a while is only fair.

Have a great cruise and keep hydrated.. LOL

    bosco

why would you leave a tip when you are already paying an 18% service charge? to me that is the same as a tip.

  7. I tried to book a GOT tour in Gerona. It was sold out for the one day i had to do it. Is it still worth while going to tour the town. We had 3 days in Barcelona pre cruise. Getting picked up at the cruise terminal with our luggage, and dropped of in the late afternoon at the airport.
