  1. Disconcerting to say the least. We just moved our March '21 Atlantic crossing/Mediterranean cruise  to March '22  and, hopefully, Viking will be back on their "feet" by then. I'd surmise that the ongoing cash burn is significant, and that they will have to seek out some more white knights to survive. Fingers crossed.

We received a credit on our credit card today reflective of 3/14ths of our cruise fare from our shortened transatlantic on Sky. So from disembarkation to refund was 37 business days (52 calendar).

Unfortunately they did not include the balance of our refundable onboard credit so I’ve sent another email. 😢

Hi Clay -- hope you are well. I received the cancelled portion of the cruise last week. In our case it was 15/26ths since we were scheduled on the Mediterranean portion as well. I am still awaiting the refunding of our on board account, the prepaid Viking excursions and pro-rata unused portion of the Silver spirits package. I was told by a Viking Rep., it should be refunded by May25th.

  3. I was on the Sky March 6th Trans-Atlantic and March 20th mediterranean cruise. I have not received any refunds for:

    --Cancelled portion of cruises

    --Prepaid Viking shore excursions

--Unused portion of Silver spirits package

    --On board account refund

    --Prepaid transfers

The only refund I did receive was reimbursement of car rental from Miami on March 17th. I am getting inpatient.

We may  very well be on that cruise. Living in Florida, we can't do the West bound transat. We want to be in Florida during the hurricane season.

My sister who lives in south Spain tells me that it is freezing cold and rainy there since 10 days. We would not have been very happy in Spain.

We did not prepay the gratuities and on our final bill, we were charged less gratuities than expected. Viking charged for the number of days on board, not the planned length of the cruise. I am certain that they are very busy right now and I will not only be patient but very supportive. I want them to stay in business. As Bottomfeeder wrote, if there is a loss on the cruise expense, it is nothing compared to what we lost in our retirement portfolio. We keep that in perspective.

Jacques -- Great meeting you and the many others who attended the Manfreddi's dinner on board and a special shout out to Clay for arranging. I also received my Viking "offer". It seems reasonable but for those of us doing both legs of the journey (Trans-atlantic and Mediterranean to Venice) the refund amount seems based on a straight pro-rata basis(Total paid for cruise x number of days vs total days booked). it seems that this should be based on the separate cost of each leg of the trip since the 2nd leg of the trip was significantly more expensive.

In any event, we tentatively booked  a similar Viking Sky cruise departing Miami 3/21/2021. Hoping Viking survives and that the virus is eradicated by then. Anyone else going on that itinerary??

  6. We have sailed on both and I find them comparable for service and dining. The one area that Viking surpasses Seabourn is the overall ambience of the ship. Viking ships never seem crowded and the retractable roof on the pool deck is great. No problem in finding a quiet area to read, surf or just relax. Another area where Viking excels is the wine selection(by the glass) and beer selection -- important if you are on the Spirits package.
