There has been no "wine police" anywhere. They do not seem to care and our MDR servers were happy to open our wine at dinner with no mention of the corkage fee. I see a nice tip coming their way! 🍷🙂
Thank you. I don’t mind paying for the package but I only drink wine and the last cruise had the most horrible selection in the standard package and as this is £100 per day between you it’s a significant cost. I’m not a connoisseur but the wine they were serving is 2 bottles for £10 in U.K. supermarkets.

Thank you for your informative post. We’re hoping to do this next year so it’s helping me plan.
As a matter of interest did they take your wine away until the end of the cruise?
Thanks again for all the information.

I did thank you but only because I contacted them. Anyway I have the tests so hopefully all will be good for Monday.

I did, very much. You simply won’t find better food on a cruise ship that you don’t have to pay extra for. And the crew are superb. Entertainment is hit and miss, but as long as you accept that VV are trying to be different, hopefully you’ll love it. But I can see why people who like traditional cruising with its formal nights, set seating MDRs and song & dance production shows wouldn’t enjoy it.Thanks for the information. We do cruise with Princess but prefer anytime dining and don’t go to the shows very often. We’ll keep an open mind and I’m sure we’ll love it.

I’ve done two of the ex-Portsmouth Valiant Lady sailings this year. For the first one the testing details were emailed 6 days before departure, and for the second 15 days before.
If you haven’t heard anything by Monday I would definitely call as you need a code to order the testing kit from their provider NPH and it may take 2 or 3 days to arrive.
Thank you so much for the information. Did you enjoy your cruises? There is such mixed feedback from wonderful to awful! I was on Sky Princess recently and that was the same. I thought the food was excellent and others completely disagreed!

We booked late for the 2 May 2022 sailing on Valiant Lady from Portsmouth to Barcelona. The testing information says:-
For UK residents only sailing on Valiant Lady we are currently able to offer a FREE at home option with our approved testing partner. Details will be emailed to you in advance of your sailing.
However there just over a week to go and I haven’t heard anything. I’ve tried to call Virgin Voyages but there are long call waiting times.
Can anyone who sailed from Portsmouth advise?
Thank you..

I tested at Lloyds Pharmacy on Saturday for boarding the Sky Princess this morning. As others have said do check by phone that your branch has the tests and the pharmacist. It was easy and took 15 minutes in all.

Thank you. I suppose it’s just Apple’s standard warning making me worried to delete anything!

I’m on the next Sky cruise. I do hope this is fixed. At the very least Princess need to be honest about it. I’m in the middle of a building project and have said I’ll be contactable.

No need to delete your Medallion App. Go to the Apple App store. Search for the Medallion app. Your app should show up..Find where it says update. Do not delete. It maybe too early for the Medallion to respond to your request.
Thanks, It didn’t make any difference to the dining availability but at least I’m up to date. Hopefully they’ll add extra dining slots later.

In trying to book DMW reservations for 25th August British Isles cruise. The only table for 2 Iis 20.40 which is far too late. I’ve seen there is an Apple app update. When I try to delete the existing app it warns me all data will be lost. Does that mean I’ll lose all my dining reservations for my cruise next week? Thanks.

Thank you. That’s what I’m hoping.

We’re on a British Isles Cruise on 25th August. I didn’t realise you could book dining so early and now I’ve realised the only table for two available is at 8.40 every night. Can this be right five months in advance? We’ve got another cruise in September and I’ve beeen able to book tables for two at 6pm with no issues. I’d be grateful for any advice.

I put a new cruise ON HOLD and when I called them, they changed the on hold date to April 11th. They said I still needed to fill out the form they sent about what you wanted. They said they were handling the cancellations first and then they would do the moves of FCC etc. They said they had to move it back into my account first and then move it to the new cruise. I guess I will wait a few weeks and see if that happens. A couple traveling with it said they got the same message.
Thank you. I want to move to the same itinerary on a different date but they said I’d have to pay the difference.

Not everyone will want to move to the cruise in 2022. Some will just cancel. Some (like us) are moving to a cruise in 2022 with the same ports, but in a different month.
Can I ask whether Princess moved your existing booking and benefits?

We were denied boarding the Sun Princess on 10th March 2020 because we’d been through Singapore 19 days earlier. Following this our cruise on the Golden Princess from Melbourne was also cancelled when operations closed down completely. I have been waiting patiently for my refund/FCC. A couple of days ago my £75 FCC and a credit for the Crown Grill cover charge appeared in my Captains Circle and I was hopeful that my refund was being processed but it seems not. I’m now more concerned because why wouldn’t you deal with everything at the same time? To be honest we could do with the money as we stayed in Australia and did many of the things we would have done on the cruise but had to pay for them again. I also paid the £35 pppd drinks/gratuity package for both cruises and for a number of excursions. I haven’t even got this back. I know some people are saying be patient but perhaps they are richer than me.

This announcement doesn’t help those who are supposed to be cruising in July onwards. We are suppose to cruise the Med on 9th July 2020. I’m still trying to decide whether to lose the deposit or pay the balance and hope I get a refund when the cruise is cancelled. It’s the first and last time I’ll book through a travel agent as I would have had longer to decide if I’d booked direct. When I paid the deposit it was on the condition that it was protected by ABTA and should anything go wrong I would get a refund within 14 days. They shouldn’t be able to change this retrospectively. If I pay the balance it should be kept in a holding account and returned if the cruise doesn’t operate.

We are travelling on the Sun Princess from Perth in March 2020. There has been some discussion as to whether the PBP can be added for £35 per person. However I usually drink wine so it might be better to get the gold wine package but I don’t want to get on board and they don’t offer a gold wine package. Does anyone know whether the Sun Princess is offering a wine package? Thanks for your help.

Yes. I did check Quidco and TopCashback. Nothing unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Does anyone know if there is any way to earn cashback or Avios when booking an MSC Cruise? Last time I went via TopCashback but this seems to have gone. I also used to get 10 Avios per £1 through the Avios Travel Agency but this has gone too (this was Princess not MSC). Am I missing anything?

I am looking to book a Princess cruise to Alaska next year. The prices for a balcony on the UK site are higher than the U.S. and there is no OBC or sip and sail. Does anyone know whether this will be extended to UK passengers?
Kind regards.

Unless the TV's were recently changed, the inputs were composite A/V. You can get a cable set from Amazon for about $10 or you can buy one from the Apple Store for $39.99. The one from the Apple Store is in an Apple logo box and may have an Apple sticker in it. It also comes with Genius Bar support.
Thank you for your advice.
Kind regards

Can anyone tell me if the TVs on MS Rotterdam have an HDMI in so we can watch content from our iPhones on the TV? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Hi Cruisemom
I hope you enjoyed your travels. Would you be kind enough to send me a copy of your notes for Herculaneum. Thank you in advance.
E-mail is tracy-regan @ sky dot com

SIM Cards for USA and Canada

I think we’re on the same cruise. I don’t know of a Sim that covers both but a PAYG Sim from Three includes USA. I’m going to use Skype for calls from Canada.
