  1. Hi everyone! We are leaving Tuesday morning to fly into Anchorage to begin the land portion of our Cruise Tour. Princess has us at the Hotel Captain Cook that night before heading to Denali on Wednesday morning.  My question is when we arrive at the airport and get our luggage,  is there a specific place where we find the Princess Rep for our transfer to the hotel?

    Thanks in advance!

If your parents want the perks of suite or Club Class, then they need to book it. It's really that simple...

Thanks for the information.  They were not asking for those benefits at all - they're just happy to be going on a cruise with us.  We booked and paid for the cabin for them - as a thank-you to my Dad for raising me  and so I could spend time with him, as he is getting older and lives 1,000 miles away from me. I was simply asking so I knew what to expect ahead of time.

  3. We are booked on the Majestic Princess next June. We are in a Penthouse Suite (B734). We are paying to bring my Dad and Stepmother along as well, but they are in an inside cabin right by us (B730). I know suite guests get priority boarding, dinner reservations,  erc. My question is will my Dad and his wife be able to board with us,  or will they have to go on their own? Can they be added to our dining reservations,  etc? Thank you for any help anyone has to offer!

  4. In choosing our balcony cabin for our Alaskan cruise,  we were looking at D740 or 741, which have the support beam partial obstruction, which I noticed are 277 Sq. Ft. They're at also 2 cabins,  1 on each side. D736 and D737 are also premium balconies and are listed as considerably bigger (354 Sq. Ft.) They are on either side at the back of the ship but not quite completely aft. Has anyone stayed in one of these cabins that can tell me what the balconies are like?

  5. Hello everyone! I am new to Princess (have sailed 7 times on Carnival - several years ago). My husband and I are taking my Dad and his wife on an Alaskan Cruisetour next summer. We are looking at the 11 day Denali Explorer on Sapphire Princess. We want a premium aft balcony and those available (D740 or D741 or E732 or E735) all say "Balcony partly obstructed due to support beam." Has anyone been in any of these cabins? We're hoping to find out how big of an obstruction this beam really is in these rooms. Any information anyone has to share would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

  6. Hi everyone.  Just booked my first Norwegian cruise - My mother and I are doing a mother/daughter cruise for our 50th/70th birthdays.  We booked the 7 day Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona in an aft balcony cabin on the Norwegian Epic in June 2021.  We have cruised a lot but have always been on Carnival, so all of our knowledge is related to that cruise line.

Any suggestions/tips (about the cruise line, ship, cabin, etc.) that would help us out would be greatly appreciated!

I'm looking forward to experiencing Norwegian.

  7. Kelly,

What an amazing review! I loved all of your picture too! You have very sweet boys, a very memorable time for you all. I love their surprise for you on your birthday (which is also my moms birthday!). Made me teary:)

You mention smoking your cigar on your balcony. If there anywhere else to smoke cigars on the ship? Is there a smoking lounge! We have tried to research this but keep getting conflicting reports. I will post this question on the general Carnival boards too.

I am looking into the dolphins for our cruise next week. Might be too late to book it but it looks fun.

    We sail next Thursday! YAY,

    Julie

Unfortunately there is no smoking lounge. There is only your balcony and the regular public smoking areas on the lido deck I believe it is.

I'm glad you enjoyed the review. I had a great time putting it together, as it allowed me to relive the memories once more :-)

  8. FTTF probably isn't on your boarding pass because as a guest in a suite you get priority boarding.

Not true - I was in a grand suite in june and purchased FTTF and it did appear on my boarding pass and luggage tags. Even with VIP boarding, we still found it to be a great deal with luggage being delivered 5 min or so after getting to cabin (and we boarded very early) as wrll as priority line at guest services.

  9. The Dolphin swim that you did- did you book that as an excursion via the ship or did you do that on your own? Also, we are on the fence between a 5 day or 7 day. Did you feel like the 5 day was too short? Just right? When I price out an Ocean view the difference is about 500 less for a 5 day cruise (me, DH and DS). So DH thinks a 5 days is better on the wallet and would prefer that. Me, well....my thinking is that once we are there and on the ship I would feel like a 5 day is too short. Just wondering. Thanks for letting me know and again, thank you for taking the time to write this review and add all your pics.

We booked dolphin swim through carnival as UNEXSO doesn't book privately when ship is in port. Plus its easier for this excursion since it takes bus ride and boat ridr to get there. I do highly recommend it though - SO worth the money.

I thought 5 day wad a nice length - especially with that price difference. 7 days is nice, but 5 really wad a great length of time. It was a nice itinerary too with a day at sea at each end of ports. Plus you can always spend time in Charleston on either/both ends of cruise.

If you have amy other questions, feel free to ask!

  10. Kelly, I was searching for pics of the grand suite and stumbled on your review. What a great job. I felt like I was right there with you, LOL. I hope the boys had an amazing experience and will remember their time with mom always!!

    Thanks again. Loved it.

    Susan

Thank you very much Susan! We all had such an amazing time and the boys still talk about the trip. It will be something the 3 of us will remember forever.

  11. Glad you had a great time! We will be sailing on her in October.

Can you tell me if there was an area set aside for FTTF or for Suite/Platinum check in?

There was not a separate area when we sailed her the beginning of June. It was just one big area and no real way of distinguishing FTTF and platinum/diamonds from everyone else after getting your S&S.

  12. I was sitting on my balcony with a glass of wine and my Nook when suddenly the balcony door opens and my boys walk out with a little white chocolate cake they had bought for me at the specialty coffee shop place – and they were singing happy birthday to me (my birthday was the next day, but it was now past midnight, so it was technically my birthday and they wanted to be the first to sing to me). They even substituted their own words for the 3rd line and sang “Happy birthday to the best mom in the world.” My boys and I are very close, but this really touched me and was one of the sweetest things they’ve done for me. It was a great day for me.

This brought tears to my eyes; such sweet boys and handsome as well. Congratulations

Thank you! They are good boys and I was very touched. Raising kids is a tough job, but every now and then they do things like this that make it all worthwhile :-)

  13. Thanks for posting these pictures which allowed me a trip down memory lande. The Fantasy was our first ship when it was new and for our 25th anniversary I booked it again with the same cabin and we had a vow renewal. She's a great ship!

I have been re-living our vacation ever since I got back - every time a friend wants to see the pics. Watching the slide show on my computer makes me want to be back there again! I would go back on the Fantasy anytime!

  14. Great review and I'm glad the hotel, carriage ride, dinner and the cab ride worked out! Glad to help all who come this way. We just did a Fascination trip and are looking at a Fantasy sometime next year, cause they have a different port! (can you say LSC?)

Thank you for all your help! Everything came together perfectly!

  15. I love reading Fantasy reviews! I am booked on Fascination in October but I plan on booking my 5th cruise on Fantasy next year and will be FINALLY taking my boys with me.

    Great Review!!!!!

    Thanks!

I just remember, when planning for my cruise, how I searched for all reviews I could find. I particularly loved the picture reviews. So, I took notes every day - I wanted to make sure to write a good review with lots of pics for others to read while they were planning their cruise.

I am just glad everyone is really enjoying the review :-)
