I did a day pass at the Riu palace two years ago and it was awesome. I booked occidental grand this time but the reviews have been horrible last several days so we are thinking of just having a beach day

Thank you for all the information! I'm leaning toward going to the beach. The day pass is 154 that I pay at the hotel so I'm only out the 15$ for the deposit.

Is there any resturant or bar food you would recommend for lunch?

booked day pass a while back after reading great reviews. Today however I was shocked at reviews from the last several days. Removed beach bar, ran out of alcohol every day, etc

Anyone else hear anything or been there recently?

ive always flown in and taken shuttles or taxis so we pull up they take our luggage and we go in.

This time we are driving and will be parking at port (port canaveral)

Do we go directly to parking and drag our luggage somewhere or will we be dropping luggage off where taxis do and then driving to park.

I hope this isn't a silly question!

I was going to use park port canaveral but saw many cars have been broken into twice this month. It says 24/7 security so not sure what happened.

is the garage first come first serve or is there an up charge from basic parking? 144$ for 8 day cruise

anyone use them in port canaveral?

I booked chefs table on 1/14 for our March 25th cruise and the confirmation email said 75$ plus a 15% gratuity.

I'm platinum this cruise and my tags have both priority written and the faster to fun logo

We did an all inclusive resort, riu palace I think. It was awesome.

Got my second call from the upgrade fairy in 10 cruises yesterday!

The first time, it was an offer to go from a ocean view to a balcony for roughly $120, which I took. It was probably bate, cuz I've never done anything but balconys since :)

But this time, it was to go from our balcony on lido to a suite on 7 for 800$

It did not sound like a great deal to me so I turned it down. Are the days of great upgrade prices gone or did I just get lucky the first time?

Im confused, you would think by now I would understand the system.

I booked early saver for 1099pp (2198) and upgraded to lido for 1149pp

when I go to fareviewer, which rate should I be comparing?

my base room rate or my upgraded lido rate?

in fareviewer there is an option where i can select my room for 2258, super saver for 2198, and a pack n go for 2158, neither of the last two allow room selection.

The last 4 cruises I purchased faster to the fun and loved it! I read about chocolate covered Strawberry's and a logo gift. Will there be any other perks over FTTF ?

Just kidding! But I am excited to learn anything that I don't know yet to maximize my vacation with carnival.

I'm on the sunshine this march 25 and I will be buying cheers for the first time. No more smuggling for this guy .

My question: can I get drinks free in the steakhouse, main dinning room, shakes place, and spiked coffee?

From what I've found they upgraded cheers to include anything by the drink under 50$ is this still current?

Loved the Journey!

For those who posted, thanks! For those who didn't know, carnival has brought the Captains party and the midnight grand buffet back on all of the journeys cruises! I'm very excited to see both of these, We are on the dream next weekend.

I thought I was going to miss the past guest party, but this one sounds even better.

On our sailing of the First Journeys cruise on the dream, John posted the following:

"During our flashback to 1987 day we will have the old style Captain’s Cocktail party held in the main lounge. Guests will be invited to wear black tie and evening gowns as we did back then"

This sounds a lot like the past guest party, free drinks and snacks, but everyone will be wearing formal attire.

Has anyone been before they stopped doing it? if so, Is it like I think?

Last time I was on the dream the AC was great, but leaving the curtains open all the way during the day did make the cabin "warmer"

I have always had a problem with hot cabins when we first arrive, I think the ship is not running the main engines or main power to the Air coolers, once we get underway the air gets colder.

As for trouble with kids, once us and a couple we met was laying on lido in our bathrobes watching the dive-in movie, and this family with about 5 kids sat right in front of us, and the kids were major little heathens, but the dad fired up an I-pad and started playing some very noisy game. how rude. After a few loud "ahems", and angry looks, they dispersed.

I loved the Dream, be back on her in 7 weeks! woo hoo

anyone know how fast the premium is? for $100 its a bargain for me if its way faster than it has been. Checking email or facebook was a waiting game :o
