No escargot in Discoveries last night on Onward.

Escargot is finally available on Onward tonight. Iwan is arguably the most visible and available of all officers on board; he really takes care of all food related issues, which are quite a few. There was no cottage cheese available for a day or two; mentioned that to Iwan at lunch time; by dinner time, he got back to me with the news that the problem was solved.

Having been on the ship, that's correct. None of the indoor venues are all that spacious either, with the exception of the theater that converts into a decent sized night club.

Thanks - I was reading about it in another revievw, it sounds quite impressive. We'd prefer an outdoor venue due to COVID/flu paranoia but this one will sure work well.

I mean, if they're chartering Oceania Vista, they're not wedded to the idea of the Atlantis experience exclusively being huge deck parties.

Agree. Vista cruises belong to a different segment: luxury, port intensive, destination oriented rather than party driven. It’s a part of Atlantis offers I’m personally looking at with great interest. (My friends who went on Marina this year, however, complained about the party component they felt was just neglected on that cruise)
Prima is twice the size of the Vista though and its itinerary does not seem to be that exciting for those looking for a destination cruise. And with more days at sea, I would expect more party activities there as well.

A quick internet check says Meiomi sells for more than Estancia, and my own experience is that I prefer Meiomi over Estancia.  Do you agree?

I haven’t tried Estancia so cannot compare. Meiomi was not really for my palate: with sugar content of 17 g/l, it tasted too syrupy. It’s just me though; in that price range, my favourite Californian Pinot Noir would be Three Thieves.

Prima is a good deal bigger than the Virgin ships, although it's not huge by any stretch of the imagination.  It's also a bit bigger than Navigator of the Seas that they used on their most recent Halloween cruise.

From the deck plans, it looks like Prima does not seem to have large open air public spaces suitable for massive parties, similarly to Virgin ships. As of the size, it's 7% longer than Virgin ships and has 10% higher passenger capacity so seems to be fair comparison, especially taking into account that a big chunk of its outdoor space is restricted to the Haven guests. That's why I cannot help but compare and wonder if Prima cruise experience is in many aspects similar to the one on Virgin ship.

Excellent news -maybe I won't be testing how much I can bring onboard at Miami

Keep enjoying but please leave a modicum for me 🙂

We're gonna go on the next cruise after you and with such a long lineup of wine connoisseurs, I'd better bring some with me 😉

I do not see the list attached, Hate to ask but can you add it ?

If you click on the bold "Anybody onboard currently?" title next to the brownish circle with the capital D in it, then the original post will show up with the three pdf files attached. The last one is the one with complementary wines list.

Please explain this about the "Inclusive Amenities for all Guests".  This is part of what my confirmation says, " select standard spirits, International beers and wines ... bottled water, soft drinks, specialty coffees and teas".  Does this mean only at meals or anywhere/any time on the ship, and with room service?  Are these "international beers and wines good?  Is there a limit?

    1. Anywhere/any time on the ship (except Atlas bar on the Onward).

    2. Not with room service.

We took a couple of Silversea cruises some years ago, and every cabin had a butler. The ship was not full, and our butler was evidently bored, because I had to hide my hairbrush so that he wouldn’t feel that he had to pick all the hairs out of it every day. DH also hid his shoes so that they didn’t get polished every day.

A friend of mine who served in the army used to tell me: a soldier should always take initiative and keep finding himself safe and easy tasks, otherwise the superiors will find him those that may end up with his heroic death:)

First time cruiser here, first time post on CC. Please advise if I should post this elsewhere.

We will be in Seville for 2 nights in November on Azamara Pursuit. Thinking about taking the AVE fast train    to Cordoba(about 45min), doing a tour, have some lunch then return on train.

This requires booking tickets in advance.

My question is what time/earliest can we disembark the ship to catch a taxi to the train station on the full day we are in port?

I know there are day tours that go to Cordoba either private or small group from Seville which is an option but being a bit of a train buff and never travelled on a fast train thinking this could be fun.

Any advise would be much appreciated. TIA

We stayed overnight in Lisbon earlier this year and were told we could come and go any time, day and night. But to make sure, talk to Hotel Director in advance, give them your trip itinerary so that they know what time you're going.

After what Princess did to their R-ships, I'm surprised there is any solid steel left...  😉

Yeah, she seems to have been a Cinderella Princess)

On the Onward videos shot in May, the gym looks the same as on the other ships, which makes me wonder…

Azamara's first three ships were the last three built by Renaissance (R-6, R-7 and R-8).  Onward was one of the first three (R-3).  There were changes in layout between the first group and the last, some of which would be hard to redo.

Thanks, good point. I looked at the deck plans for Oceania Regatta - former R-2 - the fitness room and spa layout looks exactly the same as that of Azamara's first three ships. Same with other three Oceania's "R"s. So Onward appears to be unique - could be the Princess's heritage)

Thanks, not good for gym users etc or for those wanting to use the steam room.

Now that you mentioned it, I looked at the deck plans and realized the spa/fitness center layout on the Onward differs from that on the other ships so that there's no access to the change room area directly from the gym - only through the spa reception.

An inconvenience to say the least:(
