  1. There was a picture of a bumper car on my 4 year old daughters sea pass card.

One of her favourite past times (with daddy driving at resorts all over the UK). To be told she wasn't allowed on because she wasn't 5 is more of an indictment of the U.S. Legal system where people's willingness to sue spoils the fun for the majority.

Even the North Star has a height restriction which I have not seen published anywhere. My daughter is tall enough ride the tower of terror in Disneyland Paris but can't go on bumper cars.

A ship marketed as a family ship is not unless all your kids are over 5 or a certain height. No dreamworks has been discussed before. Young kids love character interactions.

The saving grace is the 2 storey adventure ocean which is fantastic. It also has an excellent parent supervised area open all day with great toys, a slide for under 3's & over 3's not potty trained yet.

The other potentially brilliant area is the indoor pool which is designated as a family pool. The major issue was kids wearing nappies & swim diapers in a full size pool not being policed means that pool will be closed a lot for cleaning unless enforced. Who will moan when it's closed I wonder? The same parents who ignored the rules in the first place.

When our daughter was younger we would often get room service as she was too tired to go out. The choice now is so insulting to people already paying 4* cruise prices it just smacks of greed.

  2. I'm from the UK and now use a US TA.

I have booked on the current BOGOHO offer and the price is over £1000 cheaper than the UK price with loads of onboard credit too. The deposit was only $300 and is fully refundable.

I also have the Quantum 02 November transatlantic booked and have received almost $586 in price drops in the last month. If I had booked through the UK I wouldn't have got a single penny of that.

  3. If that was released just this past Friday, they are not proofing their materials very well.

This is the e-mail that came attached stating just SOME of the new features you'll find onboard.

Would be dissapointed to find out that she is getting next to no updates (a la Independence).

  4. I received the following from RC on Friday. It appears to be an updated list of ship refurbs.

    http://cruisingpoweruk.co.uk/docs/rcc_product_news_33_2715757302.pdf

The last one I received showed Adventure as coming soon with upgrades TBA.

I'm confused because I have read that Adventure will not be getting a nursery but from this list it appears it will be. Great news for my family if true as we are on Adventure twice this summer.

  5. How long does it take for RC to apply a future cruise certificate ($ off due to a problem on a previous cruise - not to be confused with a next cruise certificate purchased onboard to get onboard credit on a future sailing)?

I e-mailed my certificate a week ago and have heard nothing.

    Is this normal?

    Thanks for your responses.

  6. My daughter made Diamond in her own right on her 2nd birthday.

She has now completed 9 cruises amassing 118 cruise points.

We have another 3 cruises & 38 points lined up for this year bringing her to 156.

Want to make the most before she starts school and we are stuck with school holiday prices!

  7. I've had to call Guatemala twice. Once because an invoice was incorrect.

The guy spoke excellent English but it still took 10 minutes to explain the problem. I got a new invoice 48 hours later which was still wrong.

I also called to make a booking using a next cruise decide later open booking. No word of a lie it took over an hour to make a reservation & the price was £30 higher than it should have been. Waiting for a new invoice and dreading calling back.

For a big ticket item such as a cruise there is no excuse for such a pathetic service. Lets hope I'm in the minority.

  8. I'm just off the transatlantic and the first 2 night cruise.

There was a noticeable drop off in service for the 2 night cruise which may have been due to a huge changeover of staff which took place after the transatlantic.

Still had a great time though due to the great weather and the unexpected stop in Cherbourg (was orginally a cruise to nowhere) which was lovely. Got a stupendously good rate on a Royal Family Suite which helped too!

Hope the 2nd 2 nighter works out better for you. The awful service you received is definitely not the norm for RCI.

  9. Really sorry to hear that you will be leaving the Freedom not through your own choosing.

Any small clues as to where you will be going after the Voyager?

Sorry for calling you Fat Graham in jest on the Freedom last week but I did buy your excellent DVD.

Hope to sail with you again soon.
