  1. The entire experience was the trip of a lifetime and the (4) tours we took with ItalyTours.eu were ALL fantastic! We highly recommend all of the tours we took, the drivers, mini-vans and guides were all outstanding and very knowledgeable about their cities, sites and the history. And of course, the lovely places in Italy and Spaiin we visited certainly contributed to the tours!

We were particularly pleased with Pavel, our driver in Barcelona and Laura, our driver in Rome. They were both extremely flexible with our itinerary and went out of their way to make sure we saw EVERY site possible in both cities. Salvatore in Naples was also excellent, he made sure at each stop that he took photos of everyone in the group for us. All of the drivers were very safe and courteous (Gabrielle in Florence drove a little bit fast, but we arrived safely at our destinations!). Our guide, Gino, in Pompeii was very knowledgeable and passionate about the ruins. He made sure to take us on a route to miss the majority of the big crowds there that day. We only wish we had more time at each location, but we fully understand that we only have 8 hours to try to get it all in!

Everyone in our party could not speak highly enough about the quality of the tours, vehicles and especially the drivers/guides! If we return to Italy (or Barcelona) in the future, we will definitely book again.

  2. I doubt they would be doing (another) extensive refurb as they just finished a major one in Dec. 2012 http://www.******************.com/2012/12/11/royal-caribbeans-serenade-seas-finishes-revitalization

My guess is an IT update on the web site or as someone else mentioned, an "adjustment of inventory" - they do show other sailings with availability on Jan. 25 (returning Feb. 5) and then again on March 7, which would be the first sailing after the Feb. 26th 10-day....it would be kind of strange to cancel 3 (almost) sold out cruises to take it into dry dock on fairly short notice, unless there was a major issue they couldn't wait for.

Let's hope it's just a temporary "outage", but I'm going to look for a backup plan just in case!!

  3. There is a canopy over the bar and seating in the area between the stairs that will prevent a bucket from being lowered. It reps the tables beneath it dry and shaded

Looks like there is a "small window of opportunity" to lower the bucket down to the bar....it is the last cabin on the right and all the bartender would have to do is walk out from behind the bar

  4. Cellar Masters for the stuff previously in Michael's, just about any bar for the common stuff.

Good thing we booked the aft facing Aqua class cabin on deck 11, directly above the sunset bar.....I plan on bringing a rope and borrowing a bucket to lower over the balcony directly onto the bar (even though the stairs leading down to the bar are right outside our door).......but I guess I'll have to stagger forward a bit to get the specialty beers, that is unless I can convince the bartender at Sunset to haul a few specialty brews aft......but, glad they will still have them for us "common folk" in cellar masters! :D

  5. Does anyone have any they would like share from their week??? Leaving on march 8! :))

I was wondering the same thing Maymom99....

We are sailing March 29, so maybe if you keep yours and can post them when you come back, many would be thankful ;) Have a great time and take care of Getaway for us!!

  6. That's exactly what I was looking for.

On our Epic Eastern last Feb, they had 2 NCL U Martini Tastings at Shakers, First and last sea days at 3PM. There were also happy hours at Maltings from 4-6 PM with 2-for-1 specials on a couple of port days. These were some of our favorite group activities.

It looks like both of these have been dropped from their current schedule.

The only thing I see is the Wine pairings and a beer tasting as well as an "alcohol tasting", but that's it....no Martini clinics or 2-for-1 specials at sailaway times from the ports :-(

Are they "daring" us to smuggle our own aboard?

  7. We will be in Costa Maya next month via the Dream and am wondering if we need any type of "reservation" to hang out at Tropicante for a few hours? There will be 6 of us in our group, but we will probably only need two or three chairs because we'll be in and out of the water swimming with the kids. Since this will be our last stop and short day I figured this sounded like a good mix of clear pretty water time, local food, drinks and a little local shopping.

Thanks for any info you can provide with this.

We are going next Feb. on the NCL Epic - only her second stop there ever...

Everyone highly recommends going to the beach "boardwalk", even if the vendors do "hound" you a bit. Found this video on YouTube that the guy (Steve) that owns the Tropicante (also highly recommended) made - nice walk along the beach and introduces you to some of the nicer places to eat, drink, get a massage and souvenier!

    Enjoy!!

  8. Hi Ann, sorry this request comes at the 11th hour, I just found this thread, our cruise is this Saturday and I am flying out tomorrow morning to Miami (if this ice storm we are having in Chicago ever goes away!!). Would you mind sending your famous spreadsheet? My email is slewis25 at Comcast dot net

I am torn with alerting the casino manager, but I think if we can still choose our own machine, hopefully they don't "tighten up" all the machines that day, or there will be 4,100 angry gamblers on the Epic with us to blame :o

    Thanks again,

    Scott
