  1. You can bring a cork screw on board. We forgot ours on the last cruise when we brought our wine on board and called guest services. They had one brought one up to the room. It was a smaller and cheaper version, but did the job. It will just show as a $0 expense on the bill. We just left it in the room upon our departure.

  2. You can park your car and come back to get your baggage with no problem. They provide a shuttle service to the port and back upon return. Also if you want to take a little tour throught Mardi Gras right by the port when you return from the cruise, you can store your bags in your vehicle. Fulton garage shuttle will drop you off and pick you back up once your done looking around Mardi Gras. At least that is what they did las time we were there a year ago.

  3. We are overnighting in Curacao and I would love to do a sunset cruise. However, we are not that mobile and find the catamarans difficult to relax on. Getting up after sitting on the canvas is painful.

Can anyone suggest an excursion where the boat has actual seats and does a sunset cruise?

One I have come across that is not a catamaran is through pelican boat trips. Pictures on the site shows upper and lower seating. The have sunset cruises on Wed, Thurs, and Sat. Yuu can also do a search through your browser and put in curacao sunset cruises and bring up others. A majority of the others I have come across are on a wednesday which we will not be in prt that day. Hope this helps some.

  4. I applied and will be getting the Carnival Master card. After I make a first purchase, I will get either 5 or 50 thousand 'points' that can be used to spend toward purchasing cruises, excursins, OBC etc on Carnival and other major cruise companies. What are these "other major cruise companies?"

I'm hoping or assuming they are Princess, HAL and the other ones that are owned by Carnival corporation; but I don't know for sure.

Can any one tell me for sure?

    Thanks

You can use the points for Carnival, Costa, Cunard, Holland, Seabourn, and Princess along with airfare and hotels. But the best percentage for points would be used for Carnival. The other cruse lines mentioned above requires more points to be used. I can't elaborate since I have only cruised with Carnival. Like others, there are better cards that give 2 points on everything but usually have a yearly fee. You could also use the points for the yearly fee to cover the cost also from heresay. Not sure but others could relate to them better. Barclay Arrival also gives 10% points back if points used so you start earning for next trip or even add more to current trip depending on how many one has or acquired.

  5. If I remember correctly...and I am going solely from memory...last year, if you bought a gift card, you received a second gift card worth 10% of the original. In other words, if you bought a $500 gift card, you received an additional $50 gift card as well.

The original $500 gift card had no expiration date, but the $50 card did have an expiration date, but I can't remember how long they were good for (about 18 months I think, but I'm guessing here).

There was another promotion...and it may have been last year's Black Friday...where the circumstances were similar, but with a twist. All of the above applied, but if you used the Carnival Mastercard to make the purchase of the gift card, they threw in another 10% discount on the price of the gift card itself.

Someone with a better memory may remember all the particulars better than I.

This was during the Thanksgiving Weekend last year they did this. If you purchased using a Mastercard they doubled the $50 to $100 and had a year to use it.

  6. Unfortunately we are overnight in Curacao-Thursday and leave Friday, we cannot find a sunset cruise on Thursdays! We will be on Celebrity Eclipse and really wanted to do a sunset cruise.... Does anyone know of a company that could help?? Thanks!

One that I came across is the Pelican Boat Trip that has a Sunset Cruise on a Thursday. This one looks like it is for a large group and would figure it would be kind of crowded. Most all the other sunset cruises I came across are on a Wednesday.

We are also looking for something for a Thursday that is smaller like a catamaran or such. Still looking since we have some time before our upcoming cruise. Best of luck. If I run across or hear of something I will post it to may help others.

  7. All these posts are good advice. We booked onboard for the first time this Feb. The booking took a long time. He kept complaining about the speed of his connection.

Have as many details of what you want narrowed down before you go. I felt I had more knowledge of what the options were than the FC guy did, so I would not plan on relying on his expert advice.

It was worth it to get the OBC - plus it was a great feeling when debarking to know for sure we would be back!

If speed is running slow you can also leave paperwork with the FC so they can lock in the booking/room. Did that on one of the previous cruises with the FC since it was taking too long to get everything locked in. Got the room we wanted with no problems.

Also if a particular room is not showing, the FC has access to see all rooms available that may not be showing when doing a mock booking. So if there is anothr room interested in, just inquire.

  8. Been on Both ships and left from both ports. We enjoyed both ships when sailing on them. Miami and NOLA have a lot to do if spending a couple of days prior to cruise. You can't go wrong on either cruise. Both have some good ports they go to but the Dream goes to 2 ports for both trips. As far as Itinerary, I would go with the Glory in my opinion.

  9. I have always wanted to try the L shape cabins. The only oness available for my upcoming cruise are on Deck 6.

My rule of thumb...has always been to stay on deck 7 for the quiet, which is where I am currently booked.

Should I stay put or try something new? My main concern is the noise from below.

Does anyone have first hand knowledge/experience?

    TIA

First off, let me say, Love the Steelers Avatar.

We have stayed in the L-Shaped Balcony on the Glory on deck 6 (6481) and Dream on Deck 7 (7455). We had no issues with noise when we were on Deck 6 or Deck 7. No issues with the stairwell next to these rooms either. We are currently booked with an L-Shaped room for our B2B on the Conquest for both cruises. We will be on Deck 7 because the room was available for both cruises so we don't have to move. We enjoy the room layout and extended balcony of the L-shaped rooms.

  10. I'm wondering if dining times can be changed after the 1st day. I'm going solo, but if I get to chum up with others I might want to eat with them. I'm currently with ATD. I know seats are assigned, but many times no one uses them except for elegant night.

Seats can be changed at anytime during the cruise. One cruise we tried YTD and decided we liked the set time better and changed. The last cruise my wife and I were seated at a table by ourselves. We met a couple during brunch one day and other events throughout the day and changed to a table with new found friends. Like Caribasun says, just get with the Maitre'd. The Maitre'd will cross check the seating arrangements of tables.

  11. The price on the Dream was also $37 for two. They also had a discount on the Strawberries and Cream if you bought two bottles of Sheridan. I think the price was $10. We asked for a sample of the Strawberries and Cream to determine if we liked it. The taste was similar to the Strawberry Quick Drink if that gives any insight for those wondering what it is like or wanting to purchase it. It seemed a little too sweet for our taste, but everyones taste/preference is different. So we just got the Sheridan.

  12. Thank you L454S ... we will be in 7467 next month, and were very concerned about the a/c. Our fingers are still crossed ... but will hope that our room will be cool as yours was!

Just of the Dream a week ago, Had Balcony 7455. No issues with the air. Had the curtains open everyday for the view when in the room or on the balcony.

  13. Hi everyone,

Every now and then I log into my Carnival account to see if I have any special offers. I just saw this one - "TEST P/G CBN ASSIGNMENT - You choose your own room" but there's no further description to it. Does anyone have any experience or info about this?? TIA!!!

Carnival did this on a previous sales for $50 deposit through the end of the year. You could not see any requirements or time frame for the benefit of the sale. But within a couple of days it showed complete details and timeframe.

  14. We did this cruise in Oct 2013 for our 30th Anniversary. We started boarding at 11 - 11:30. They took the Platinum and FTTF on first. No sooner did they have them in line to board through security, they started calling the boarding sequence numbers. Basically if you paid for the FTTF you were on the ship about 30 minutes to an hour before everyone else that was waiting to get on the Valor depending on what boarding number they had. We went to our room after we got on and dropped our bags off with no problem and then got something to eat and explored the ship.

  15. Since the hotel doesn't have an elevator, has anyone had difficulty finding staff to help carry bags upstairs? I will be traveling with my mom and steps are difficult enough, with bags it would be impossible.

We stayed at the Casablanca in October when we cruised on the Valor. They do have staff that will carry your bags up and down the stairs for you. The hotel is quite unique and they played the movie Casablanca on the wall continuously. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance for all meals. There is even a Starbucks right around the corner. The hotel is within easy walking distance to the port.

  16. Does anyone know the date of dry dock for Elation next September. We are booked on this ship next September. I had not heard it was going to be in dry dock. We have several other couples booked with us and I would hate our cruise to be cancelled and we have to start over.

One of the message boards I saw for dry dock has the Elation going in on 9/25/14 - 10/9/14. We are currently booked for 9/15/14 on the Elation.
