I am planning on surprising my kids (11, 7, 5) with a cruise for Christmas. My plan is to buy them each their own suitcases and put all kinds of cruise stuff in them, like summer clothes, swimsuits, towels, etc... The other presents I hope to kind of evolve around a cruise type theme also, like new cameras, fake sand for a sand box, legos that make things like boats and such. I have seen some videos of people who have surprised their children by doing a scavenger hunt, or puzzles. I also had an idea to have a puzzle made of a the ship and port pictures and give each kid some pieces and they have to work together to put it together at the end.
What have you guys done to surprise your kids with a cruise. Pictures would be great to see all the great ideas. Thanks!!

Thanks!! I will make sure we are there the 1st night, she may never want to be with us if she enjoys it that much. Haha!! I checked out the activities, sounds very nice and exciting.

Thank you guys!!! I will definitely have a notarized letter for the kids, don't want any problems there. Also, very nice to know Water works is a must. Will for sure be looking at Sunshine for them. They love the water stuff.

Hello, my husband and I are planning on bringing our kids along for our next cruise. I have been on 3 without them, but they are getting older now. The ages will be 12, 8, 7, and 5 when we go next April. If the children have a different last name than you, do they need to have the other parents approval to go on the cruise? My 2 oldest have a different dad who is not involved, but still have his last name. That's the 1st question.
Next question....Camp Carnival....any details on that is greatly appreciated. Like age groups, hours, and such.
In general question.....waterworks a must? I was really hoping to go on a ship that has both Waterworks, ropes course, guys burgers, and the blue iguana cantina. From my research, the Sunshine and Breeze are the only 2 ships with all of these, unless after Freedoms dry dock, they have the water works as well. I've been on the Breeze, so leaning toward Sunshine.
Thanks for the help!!

Can't wait to read more. My husband and I are taking the same cruise this Saturday. Leaving tomorrow to drive to Miami as well. I will be catching all I can of this review on our way down there.

Are you on the Breeze? If so see carnival breeze time difference
Having said that, Aruba is on Atlantic Standard Time. AST is one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time.
Clocks in the U.S. change on March 9. Up until then Aruba is one hour ahead of Miami. I am typing this at 3:04 pm and it is 4:04 pm in Aruba.
Once the clocks here change on March 9, Miami and Aruba will be on the same time. Aruba does not change their clocks.
Thank you so much

I'm sure my answer is out there somewhere, I've been searching through threads and found all kinds of information on the different beaches, and made my mind up to go to Palm Beach in Aruba. I've seen that at the beach you can do many motorsport activities, but do they offer any snorkel equipment for rentals there? Thank you!

Arubalisa, what is the time difference between aruba and ship time, if I am departing from Miami? I am thinking of doing the Jolly pirates, and contacted them, but they said to check the times so I wouldn't be late.

As we toured, I was all excited to show everyone the Hot and Cool Disco. When we arrived, I realized that during the 2.0 – they must have painted the large hand and feet. It’s more sleek now than tacky, I guess. But, it doesn’t have the same WOW factor to me. Here is Hot/Cool from 2008:
Now, the hands/feet are black fading to silver. I didn’t look nearly as impressive to me; I didn’t think to take a photo to compare. It was dark in the room, but even so - it was hard to tell the difference between the hand and feet now. I looked on the Carnival website. There’s an icon for Hot/Cool – but no photo (old or new). Anyone got a photo of the new Hot/Cool Disco they would like to share to compare???
Here's a new pic from the same cruise.

I had a Guy's Cheese Burger on the balcony for lunch. Bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and a cold Diet Coke to wash it down;
Granted they aren't real healthy looking, but my mouth sure is watering just looking at this close up pic;
Ok, now I'm hungry :D
This is the first thing I'm doing when I get on the Liberty in November. I need to get me one of those Guy Burgers, they look delicious
I can't wait to eat one of these. 2 weeks and 3 days =)

Loving this review. Can't wait to read more. I cruise on May 26 on the Liberty. so many great pictures already and you haven't even pulled away from port. Making it hard for me to keep my patience while waiting 24 more days. Keep up the AWESOME work.
What to do with kids in Honduras
in Roatan
Posted
We will be in Honduras in March with a 5, 7, 8, and 12 year old. We plan on doing beach things at our other ports, but thought about doing something with animals like the monkeys I've seen here. What are your suggestions and ideas on what to do here? Ship excursions and own excursions. Thanks in advance!
