  1. Thank you so much for doing this review with a focus on cruising with an infant. We will be cruising with our 15 mo soon and I was feeling a bit anxious about how it will work.

     

    Thanks for posting pics of the Nursery. Are the Nursery staff qualified in early childhood? Also, are there any issues in walking through the Casino with a child? In Australia children are not allowed to step inside gambling establishments.

  2. Gratuities are now being added in the price and I don't think you can remove them. It is for cruises leaving Australia. We are not very good tippers I am afraid, we are not used to them. I think it is a good idea. You don't have to worry about it now.

  3. It's been a while since I cruised and just went onto the RCI site to buy some onboard credit for my upcoming cruise. I can't find where you can buy this anymore. Is this still offered prior to cruising - I used to be able to get a good AUD/USD exchange rate.

     

    Edited to add - I thought I would ask my second question here rather than start a new thread. We have My Time Dining and have chosen to pay our gratuities on board. I recall them being added as a daily charge on the bill to pay at the end of the cruise. My question is, can I still have this removed and pay cash directly to the staff instead on the final night? I recall doing this on the Grandeur years ago.

  4. I've cruised Celebrity a couple of times (childless) but now considering a family cruise with my 1 yo. Am I kidding myself with this or do you think it's feasible? Just trying to work through the logistics of it in my head e.g pram in elevator, getting off and on the ship. Would Luminae provide a highchair or would this be frowned upon?

     

    I don't like the RCCL mega family ships so would either cruise Celebrity or not at all.

  5. I have the opposite question - sorry to hijack! I tend not to eat much in one sitting and don't enjoy heavy meals followed by an overly sweet dessert. Will there be any issues if I only order an appetizer and salad or soup and salad? Also, if there are yummy sides on the main can I just order that without the meat or are the kitchen staff likely to get annoyed?

  6. I'm currently pregnant and trying to watch my sodium intake. Is it possible to request no added salt when ordering a meal in the dining room or are meals pre-prepared? I imagine that there's not much I can do about pre made stocks/sauces. We will be mainly dining in Luminae.

  7. I don't drink alcohol but would like to indulge in something a little special on the ship. Do Celebrity drinks menus list some non alcoholic cocktail options? I wouldn't have a clue what to order and would really like it if they had something to choose from. Are these drinks likely to be covered under the Classic Package?

    I was wondering if there is an additional charge to eat at the Aquaspa Cafe? Do you order from a menu or is it a buffet? Is it generally very busy? Thought it might be a good place to grab a healthier meal.

  9. I've got myself in to a bit of a state. I made the final payment on Friday night but it added the gratuities back on to the amount and changed my total price for the package. I also haven't received an updated invoice via email which I usually do when any changes are made. I am stressed that they will have no record of this being made, or no record of my original booking price, or have stuffed up the whole booking entirely and will release the room. The Australian Customer Service centre isn't open on the weekend and I have to wait until Monday morning to get this sorted. I hope Celebrity realises that their crappy booking system is causing people anxiety.

     

    Do you think this can be resolved easily enough? My husband thinks I've gone mad!

  10. I am so frustrated with their bloody website! I just went to make final payment and when I did so, it added back the value of the gratuities that were deducted as part of a promo. In addition to this on screen says I have zero balance owing and another says xxxx amount due by 25 September.

     

    I have access to Online Check In does that mean that the system thinks it is paid in full (which it is!)? Are Celebrity staff likely to be able to sort this out, even I'm confused how the total of my cruise can go up like that from making a payment. I am just really really concerned that if this mess isn't sorted by 25 September the system will think I haven't paid and will automatically cancel my cruise.

    I've been trying to find the answer to this one but with no luck - just wondering if Luminae is open for lunch on Port Days? If not, what else is usually open? We are only doing a very short stop in a Port and plan to be back on the ship by lunchtime.

  12. Yes. I dont understand how going aft fixes the downwards view - I think it makes it worse as there are tiered cabins below you. And not necessarily pleasant sights. Actually the support beams bothered me more than the lifeboats.

  13. Hi All,

     

    I know this might be a long shot, but I was just wondering if anyone had any photos of views from deck 11 on the Solstice class ships? It looks to me as though rooms after the hump don't have direct views down to the water and are instead looking down at life boats or tender boats, is this correct? I feel disappointed that the view will be terrible.

     

    Any help is appreciated!
