No not at all. Carnival has only just recently announced that it won't be introducing alcoholic drinks packages on Australia sailings. It does have them in other countries. Something along the lines that it is a family based cruise company. But the packages are available on other Carnival controlled lines in Australia. Go figure. So much for equality!

We were on the Solstice in November and the molecular bar was still operating although I don't think it was called the molecular bar and the menu was not as large as before. But you can still request a drink not listed.

We sailed on Carnival Spirit in July booked inside guarantee and were allocated our cabins about 2-3 weeks prior to sailing. Both our friends and us got inside cabins, one right at the front and other close to the back! Sailed on her 3 times and enjoyed all cruises on her.

Thanks Timtam for the reply, much appreciated.

We will be at sea between Sydney and Hobart on Melbourne Cup day this year, 3rd November. Does anyone know if Celebrity will organise anything? Wondering whether to pack the fascinator? Thanks.

Only buffet will be open on embarking, Jimmys BBQ is open for lunch on sea days. As far as I know there is only soft serve ice cream available 24 hours. Sorry can't help with the cigarette question or vegan question. Enjoy your cruise.

We cruised twice last year on Carnival Spirit. After cruising on Celebrity Solstice I was a bit hesitant thinking it would be a massive downgrade but honestly once you get used to the over the top decore on the Carnival ships, you will have a great time. There was plenty of entertainment to chose from, food was good and both times we cruised with an extended group and everyone enjoyed themseles. Pity you won't get to see the band on the Carnival Spirit, Music Manilla, they are most entertaining. Your balcony cabin would be fine, it is midship and I can't see a problem. No gratuities as mentioned above. We found a variety of ages on board, mostly Australian, and both cruises were plenty of fun. Hope this is of assistance to you.

We recently booked a celebrity cruise for Nov this year through a TA and we have up until 6 months before cruising (or when the final payment is due) to make a name change. Hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing the photos Kimmy. Glad you enjoyed Yejele, it certainly is a beautiful beach, one of my favourites.

Yes definitely worth going to yejele? Beach. Went there last February and July, swam and snorkelled both times. We found the end of the beach past where the buses stop to be better in that this end was the sandy end. Also if you are sailing with Carnival you can purchase bus tickets on the dock although they encourage you to buy on board ($20). Reef shoes not necessary. Enjoy.

Yes Tara Jane is correct. Dessi is the maitre d in the main dining room. She is a very popular crew member. I believe she was going on 6 weeks leave in May and we are hoping she is back on board next week.

Does anyone know if Dessi is back on the Carnival Spirit after her holiday break?? We are travelling next week 23 July.:);)

Yes, I was wondering this as well. It is usually only the Solstice and VOTS that reverse in. I am about to book another cruise on the Spirit with a portside cabin with Opera House views, but not sure which side to book now. Will wait and see what other replies come in.:(

Going on CS next week, does anybody know whether they sell Bundy Rum in the duty free onboard store. Thanks.

I am in cabin 6206 on 13 March 2017 also doing the Great Barrier Reef cruise. Will let you know all about the cabin. From what I've read it will be fine with an outlook over the tender boats. Helen
