  1. You'll be told a lot of conflicting and false information by NCL staff, both onboard and landside. Those who have purchased SDP are often told something like 'one appetizer, one entrée and one dessert':

    • That is the case for the Platinum dinner. The conditions for that state: "Benefit entitles each guest to one appetizer, one entrée and one dessert of your choice..."
    • It is not the case if you have purchased a Speciality Dining Package. The conditions for that state: "Charges will apply for additional main course orders." and "...all items listed on the menus are included in the package. Additional entrée charges also apply for dining at Cagney's Steakhouse and Le Bistro.", so they limit your number of entrées to one, but they do not limit your appetizers or desserts.

Waitstaff often get the two mixed up, so I carry a printed copy of the two with me to help them remember which is which.

Where did you find that on NCL site cant find it anywhere

  2. I can answer so of your questions as I have spent 27 days on the Bliss & have done an Alaskan cruise, but not Bliss in Alaska (yet)

    1. Bliss is very stable side to side, but there is some front to back motion. If the water gets rough, go to the Waterfront mid - ship (avoid Observation Lounge, high deck, forward has the most movement)

    2. Are you doing Glacier Bay in 2019 or Tracy Arm in 2018? Tracy Arm excursion isn't available after Sept 1 sailing in 2018 (not enough light, I asked before booking our sailing) 2019 excursion list might not be complete, call ShoreEx (number on MyNCL) and check.

    3. Water slides are heated but the air on the deck is not! About 20% of people using the drop loop slide on our sailing were getting stuck (to light, bathing suit to baggy, scared and grabbed the sides) I would be interested if anyone has tried it with a wet suit?

4 & 5 no opinion as it's been 4 years since our Alaska cruise

    6. Bring binoculars, unless you can find some to rent in Seattle, we ended up buying some on the Jewel (but photo gallery had less stock on the Bliss)

I purchased a pair on VIPON a discount site for $15.00 great deal

  3. Thank you Joycruises! I was hoping for one of the closer docks. I have a 7:30 checkin time at Mt. Roberts Tram for a Whale Watch / Mendenhall Tour. I'm feeling a time crunch in Juneau due to our short time in port. Not sure if I should cancel.

When are you sailing we have the same and was concerned about making it for 7:30. I called tour company and they said the two cruises so far have not been a problem and everyone arrived but at the last minute.

  4. We are doing both tours but did in fact find a local tour company for whale watch and glacier. This excursion starts with whale watch and the glacier follows. Their are shuttles back every 1/2 hour and so you can go back when you are done at Mendenhall Glacier. We plan on getting back by 11:30 to have time for lunch before we leave for the next excursion( also warm up)

  5. I'm asking both of the Bliss cruisers - how's the post-Juneau glacier viewing? Second-guessing myself about Tracy Arm excursion, wondering if it's good enough from the Bliss. Please share pix or opinions! thanks

We booked the Tracy Arm excursion but wonder if Big Ship changes location what happens to excursion
