What would be your first drink on board.  We are sailing on Carnival Celebration 5 March  I would have the Brazil capirinha and it would be at the latitudes bar.  Due to kidney disease, I would have a sip and Myriam would finish it for me.

My two favorites are at the Golden Jubilee bar on Celebration. Their Harvey Wallbanger is the best!  The OJ is a little frothy, so it's smoother and richer without extra ingredients. And the Singapore Sling there - yum! Also, Jason is a great bartender. He is kind of funny, kind of grumpy, and very knowledgeable.

No cruising is totally leisure there is nothing essential about it.

Only to the cruisers.  Try to empathize with the thousands of people who rely on the travel industry to pay their bills and support their family.  An entire industry going under will result in much more than you and your family changing your vacation plans.

  3. I like to take some eggs to Blue Iguana for salsas, cheese, and other tasty toppings.  YUM!  Also French Toast with peanut butter and syrup is delish.  The new cakes at lunch are pretty good, but I have yet to find a cruise ship dessert that tastes as good as it looks.

  4. I honestly don't ever remember paying more the $15 for a drink but it has been a couple years. I guess we could have just had the extra put on our card. Can you guys give some examples of things that were over the $15?

A Dark and Stormy (rum and ginger beer) was $22 and change in October '16.

  5. "because you decided to put the glass you drank out of back under the dispenser and get some more lemonade."

I don't even know what this means. Every restaurant you have been to when they ask if you want more soda, they do exactly what you are referring too. How is this not sanitary? You are just pressing on a plastic bar.

Straws. Straws are what make that OK.

  6. We were in Nassau in October. It's not our favorite port, so we went with an inexpensive excursion to Blue Lagoon - just the basic beach day. It was a really great deal for the money. There are dolphin and sea lion features for extra $, but when those experiences are not operating, the area is accessible to anyone.

We were just walking around looking and the dolphins came over to say hi. They were very sociable and gave us quite a show.

There is an inflatable area for an extra charge (but still much less than Atlantis):

If you decide against Atlantis, this might be worth a look. We would go back. :)

  7. This.

    Good God Dadeland Mall?

People shouldn't recommend hotels they haven't stayed in.

    This isn't a cruise hotel.

I have stayed there. I have not driven to the cruise port from there so I wasn't clear on the drive time.

I would not recommend a hotel I haven't stayed in any more than I would be rude to a stranger over a hotel recommendation.

My apologies, OP, clearly I do not know what a "cruise hotel" is. In my world, a pre-cruise stay requires a clean bed and shower, and that's what I was recommending.

  8. I got the Heidi reference :)

I would enjoy hearing a gospel song in the piano bar or anywhere I happened to be listening to music. While not everyone there is a Christian, possibly some are and would like to hear the song. The idea that it's "inappropriate" is a little silly to me.

If I was offended by something in the comedy show, pretty sure all the helpful people here would encourage me to seek other entertainment. I think that advice applies in all sorts of situations.

  9. GREAT review. I am sailing out in one week. This time next week, I will be finishing my lunch on board!

Thank you for all your information. You said your CD staff was a little aloof, but who was the actual cruise Director? and do you remember Alain's last name? I like to look them up and see what other people (even from other ships) say about them.

    Thanks,

    Kathy

Our CD was Armen, and Alain Magnier is listed as the Hotel Director.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  10. Really appreciate your feedback on the Embassy Suites at Boston Airport. We have been considering it since we are Hilton Honors members, had decided to go with the Marriott LongWharf even if more expensiv, to be in the city and really enjoy Boston. Do think the ES really missed the boat so to speak. We had a terrible night sleep at the Embassy Suites in FT Lauderdale because they put us in a room at the back of the building, the airconditioning unit kept us awake, we were also across from an elevator where young people were very noisey, being excited about going on a cruise. The following morning we mention this experience during check out (mind you we have stay many times at this hotel in the past), the front desk did not charge us for are room. We were surprised, did not expect this response.

I'm glad you had a different experience with your front desk staff. We are also HH members, and have stayed at a few Embassy Suites. This was the worst of any we've stayed at. As a matter of fact, the few Hampton Inns we've visited were nicer than this place. It looked good on paper, and the extras (pool, breakfast, shuttle) were nice, but the basics were sadly lacking.

We have definitely decided to stay "in town" the next time we visit Boston. That seems to be the advice from locals over on the East Coast forum - I should have listened!

For anyone already committed to staying there, the good news is the T station is a very short walk from the front door, and will get you quickly to the good stuff. (Also forgot to mention that the hotel shuttle will deliver you to the T station.)

  11. Hi there, Thanks for a great review. My family and I will be going next year and are really only interested in the evening glass bottom cruise as our excursion as well - Thanks to CC we will be doing more self guided bus/ferry/walking tours. But I feel like the glass bottom cruise is a unique experience that even the nonswimmers in my family will enjoy. So my question is, which company actually charters the tour, and did it appear to be sold out via the excursions, or could you just buy day of? I just don't want to handcuff that to one night or the other. And if you had a price that you remembered?

    Thanks

I know that it was still listed as available while we were on the ship, but otherwise, I'm not sure how late you could book or if you could even book directly through the tour provider. The boat was fairly full, but there were a few empty seats, I think. It was a very short walk from the ship to the dock, and I believe that Fantasea Bermuda might have been the tour operator. We paid $150-ish for two adults and one child. It was a fun and low-key way to spend our first evening in Bermuda. I hope you get to see the fireworms when you go - SO cool!

  12. The first time I rode the pink bus to Horseshoe will be the last time I ever ride the pink bus! I was terrified and was so nauseated I thought I wouldn't make it. It felt like we were careening into space on a roller coaster! We were going way too fast, and the roads are very curvy and narrow. I was totally green by the time we stopped. Never again!

Well, that's a bummer! We actually thought it was kind of fun. But we've spent a lot of time in DC cabs, so not much fazes us. Except the time our bus almost fell off the side of a mountain in the Rockies...but that's a different trip :)
