  1. We are cruising from Seward Alaska next June. I called today to setup the Grandview Train from Anchorage to Seward and the agent said the only Royal Caribbean transfer available was the bus. Are they no longer offering it or is it too early to book maybe?

Noon was the earliest "slot" last year with an 8pm departure, so I am expecting it to be 11am for a 7pm departure, but I'm definitely not positive.  Our luggage was dropped off sometime in the afternoon I am assuming (we left it with our Kenai Fjords tour office and they dropped it off for us) and we didn't get it in our room until after 8pm I think?

The train is the BEST way to get to Seward that day, as its very scenic and special, but I know that the train via the Alaska Railroad for our sailing is sold out that day, so I would do that quickly if you want it.  Bus is also an option, but I am unsure where to book that.  There is also usually that Royal chartered train, it’s very handy.

Thanks for the information. For the Royal Chartered train, seems like I read you drop your bags at the civic center? Do they bus you to the train depot from there?

  3. We are cruising out of Seward in June. We are staying in Anchorage the night before the cruise. I am exploring transportation options for our party of 6. What time can we board the ship? The reason I ask this is because the Royal Caribbean chartered buses and train arrive in Seward late in the day, around 5PM. It seems that a lot of passengers will be boarding late in the day and maybe the bags will be getting to the cabin very late. I would like to board in early afternoon if possible and would like suggestions for transportation from Anchorage. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

  4. We are going on our first Celebrity Cruise out of Europe (Greece, Italy, France, Spain) in the fall on Apex. Is the MDR dress code more dressy in Europe? We usually dress up on the 2 formal nights and the rest of the time, just smart casual. Mainly just don't want to be underdressed.

I'd really like to know what web page still has all this inaccurate info about Quantum class dining.

I just did a Google search which didn't help. Then I found a lot of old posts on Cruise Critic from back when they had dynamic dining. I couldn't find anything helpful on the RCI site. That's when I decided to ask you guys. Thanks...

Dinner on Anthem is just like other RC ships.  My Time and Traditional (fixed).

There are 4 different "free" venues that act as the main dining room, and they all serve the same exact food from the same exact menus that change nightly.  Only the decor is different.

    Bill,

So for traditional dining, do we still change dining rooms every night and the schedule will be in our room on day 1?

  7. We cruise in 5 days. I called the automated line and requested a receipt, which only showed the balance not including shore excursions, packages, etc. I called the 866-562-7625 number and spoke to an agent. She acknowledged the website balance issue. I requested she send me a receipt for my shore excursions, etc, which she did promptly. That receipt showed the negative balance reflected on the website. Onward to Alaska...

  8. I understand your nerves. My advice would be to reserve anything you didn't book ahead as soon as you board the ship. We are loved the ship, but there was hits and misses for us. We always enjoy our cruises, but this cruise was tainted by the staff's responses and no actions to my problems. This was my 8th Royal Caribbean cruise and the link to the review below is my first to post on cruise critic. I hope you enjoy it.

  9. Anthem of the Seas 5 Night June 11-16 Quick Review

We are Diamond cruisers and we had mixed feelings about the Anthem of the Seas. We are usually easy to please while on a cruise, but this one was hit and miss. Some of the staff seemed testy and on 3 separate occasions, I was told that there was nothing they could do to help me and to feel free to comment on the customer survey. The ship was very clean and the décor was nice. It took a while to get our bearings, as several venues were located on different floors than we were used to. Here’s what we liked about the cruise:

    +Spectras Cabaret Great

    +We Will Rock You Great

    +LAvation Great (U2 cover band)

    +Restaurant service great

+Food was good in the 4 complimentary restaurants

+Dynamic dining classic worked well. Enjoyed the variety.

    +Voom Internet good

    +Balcony cabin 8260 was nice.

+Walk off was very fast (A group)

+Embarkation and debarkation was fast and smooth

Here’s what we didn’t like about the cruise:

-Bar service was too slow at tables and tables were rarely bused

-Cancelled shore excursion 4 hours before with no notification. (We did get a voice mail the next day)

-We tried to book Rip Cord, Puzzle Room and North Star as soon as we boarded but were already sold out.

-Unable to book Rip Cord (later got 2 slots after talking with Loyalty Ambassador)

    -Unable to book Puzzle Room

-Unable to book North Star (was able to get 4 slots after talking to the Loyalty Ambassador)

-Our show dates/times were changed a few days before the cruise.

-Diamond drink issues (Twice bar tenders couldn’t figure out how to do free diamond drinks)

-Was told 3X that there wasn't anything they could do, but I was welcome to express my concerns on my customer survey.

Change is not always better, but we are willing to stick with Royal if they get the bugs worked out. We are going on Harmony of the Seas in April 2017.
