  1. Yes 1970 is a dummy year. I have a cruise on my account for 1970 and I wasn't even alive then!

To the OP, your account might be linked with a SO or some random person. My wife has the same point level as I do, but has only been on 12 nights of cruising. Only because she is linked to my account.

  2. We were on the Liberty cruise just before you. We were there on Saturday. Likely the reason for the delay is they were still getting us off the ship at 11. I don't believe we got off till about 11:30 or so. It wasn't anything that Royal could control, customs had only 2 people first thing in the morning and then finally they got 6 agents. Plus they said cause our cruise went to Belize they were being a bit tougher with folks.

We loved the ship but did have some issues but can't wait to go on either Liberty or one if it's sister ships again

They kept giving us excuse after excuse. I've never been on a ship where there are people still getting off (scheduled) at 11 or later. That has the most to do with it I believe. But a lot like you, I still had a great time, don't think I'll return to liberty but would love another trip on freedom. The ships themselves are wonderful!

  3. Just off liberty of the seas, they did not require everyone in the cabin to buy the package if they didn't want it. Idk if this is with all the bartenders, but the two I asked said I could get it and my wife would not have to. Def a plus and something they are switching to for next year I believe.

  4. you said the service in mdr was bad did u happen to have a table in a corner or off from others? reason I ask is when we were on monarch last year the service was bad at our table our tablemate ordered wine and she never got it. she keep askin for it finally gave up

our table was off to the side in a orner as soon as u walked n the dining m next time we booked we told them we wanted to be closer to middle of the rm they did put us there and it was better

No we were up against the window in the middle of that side. I think the waiter and assistant were just new to be honest.

scanning the cruise compasses now! should be up later tonight

  5. Since this is a connecting JS did you here anything from next door?

How was the cabin setup due to a door in the room?

Was the door where the sofa is or the chair?

Was the Balcony any bigger being on the hump?

    Any Photos?

Yeah I have some pics I can post once I make it home. We didn't notice anything from next door. And I think the balcony was a bit deeper and maybe a little wider than usual, but not anything substantial. The empty wall was the one with the connecting door. Walking into cabin, walk in closet on the left, then the vanity and and the chair w ottoman was on that side. Other side was bathroom, bed, then sofa. On the balcony we had 2 chairs, a table, and 2 chase loungers. Great cabin if you ask me!

  6. You said you were in a suite, may I ask which one? We are going to be in a GS in January and it concerns me about the beds? How was the CL? Did you use it?

I was in a jr suite. 9334 to be exact. So I cannot comment on GS beds or CL. But our table mates (also in a jr suite) had a terrible bed also. Just try it out when you first get there, if its terrible, ask for the pad right away! Lol

  7. A little about myself to start with. This is my first review, so take it easy on me. I am more than happy to answer any questions you guys might have. Also I do not want to come off as complaining or anything of the sort. Honestly the only reason I am writing this is to help others to know what might be coming if they sail on Liberty of the Seas. It does not even hold water to Freedom of the Seas (at least our sailing on her) management and crew.

I have been on a few RCI ships in the past, but this vacation was a bit different. You can take it as bad, good, different, or whatever else you can come up with. We both still had a great time as any day on a cruise beats work!

To start off, arrival at the port and getting on the ship:

This was fairly standard as far as checking in and getting your seapass card. We went through Terminal 25, which if you have ever gone through that terminal before, you will know that it is at a bit of a dead end and can be a little of a cluster outside with luggage, taxis and busses everywhere. There were people still getting off the ship and sitting outside from the previous sailing (which should have been sign #1 as to how the day would go) but I didnt think much of it. We arrived at the terminal around 9:45/10:00am, which is a little early, but it wasnt bad. Doors opened about 10:40 to actually go inside and start your official check in process. That was a breeze, partly due to the fact we were some of the first in line, the line that had now wrapped around the outside of the building. As a suite and C&A member, we were ushered to a separate seating area (by no means am I trying to sound snotty or anything, its still crowded as hell up there too!!) and was told to wait until the ship was cleared to board. Up until now the only thing that stuck out in my head was the fact that I am usually on the dang ship around 10:30-11:00 on previous sailings. But I dont mind waiting, not really a big deal. There were 2 wedding couples sitting up there with us also which was fun as they were just making a party out of everything. 12:00 rolls around, and then eventually 1:00pm with excuse after excuse as to why we cannot board yet. I want to say it was about 1:30 or so when they opened up that door to rush up to the ship. I thought, FINALLY, time to get on the ship!!! Well, technically we were able to get ON the ship, but just more standing in line. I was about 10 ft away from the "ding" machine (most of you will know what I'm talking about) but was not allowed to pass them to go onto the Royal Promenade. We waited there for about 15-20 min just staring the security guards in the face before we were allowed to "board" the ship.

On the bright side, our rooms were ready by this time so no waiting around for that!!

We went straight to the windjammer, standard boarding day food with one problem. It looked and tasted as if it had been out since 11am. Was not so happy about that, but considering how hungry I was, I did not hesitate to eat.

After this we did the usual exploring the ship, getting unpacked, etc. Things went pretty smooth to be honest...until dinner. We were on Deck 4 (table 492 to be exact) and things seemed to be as normal for first nights dinner. The problem was that I am used to dinner taking about an hour and a half or so. Tonight's dinner to just over TWO hours!!! Mostly due to the fact that our waiter and assistant waiter did not seem to pay much attention to our table of 4. I ordered a coke when we first saw the team....still dont remember if I ever actually got it. Oh and you better make that one glass of water last!!! The menu was a bit bland to be honest. None of this changed throughout the week unfortunately.

    Actual Sailing/Shows:

The next few days of the sailing were fine. Nothing really stood out other than a sense of slight disorganization and general mismanagement. The bed in our room was miserable though, the worst I have ever slept on while onboard. I had to ask for an "egg crate" 3 times to our cabin attendant and guest services before one was delivered to the room. Once that was put on the bed, I slept pretty dang good. Our table mates had ordered the romance package. The wife has gotten this package as a surprise for her husband for their anniversary. You know, one of those packages that are SUPPOSED to come with champagne, robes, chocolate covered strawberries and the sort and is SUPPOSED to be in the room "upon arrival"...yeah, NONE of that happened. They went to guest services quite a few times to ask/complain and were given one excuse after another. Finally one day a warm bottle of champagne was delivered and I think they got like 2 strawberries on day 2 or 3. The good news is that they were partially refunded...if you call that good news. Oh, the comedian Rick Corso, terrible! Spend your time elsewhere, hell spending your time counting the threads on the sheets would be better spent. I did not even smile during his act, which is hard to believe as much as I love comedy. The ventriloquist Ronn Lucas was AMAZING and I highly recommend skipping anything else you have planned to make it to his show (only one show for both dinner seatings on our sailing). The other production shows were actually pretty good too. Saturday night fever was really good, and I wish that RCI would bring more true production/musicals to their ships.

    Disembarkation

After going through the process of disembarkation off of Liberty of the Seas, I now know why it took so long to board. We were in group 26 of 33 to get off the ship with an estimated time of 10:55am!!! I couldn't believe it! Going through customs was fairly standard once you actually made your way off the ship and through the long covered line next to the ship. There are PLENTY of taxis waiting outside for those of you without airport transfers. Our ride cost about $20, but we went through some heavy traffic. We made our way to the taxi stand about noon, with plenty of people still getting off the ship.

I am in the airport right now, I will add the cruise compass from each of the 4 day sailing once I get home and get them scanned in.

**If you guys see Geo (the Italian Stallion as he puts it), just listen to him talk. By far the most personable and entertaining person on the cruise directors staff. He hosted Battle of the Sexs (aka Battle of Sex to him) and was one of the best ones we have seen!!

  8. Asked on the 12/15 navigator sailing and was told they were "out of stock"

My parents were on the Navigator 12/8 sailing and they had the pictures of them at the bar but the bar tender said it would be out in one or two weeks...guessing a supply issue.

if anyone goes on a ship and gets one, would they mind picking up an extra for me?!?!

  9. Humble suggestion: people who come back from cruises (or have sailed recently) who know whether their ship had the beer bag special should post whether their ship had it... otherwise, hah, we just end up with "I'm going on _____ ship, do they have it???" 500 times as someone above me noted lol. Perhaps we can even start a list!

I was on Oasis in November and they had it.

    So far we've established:

    HAS THEM

    -Oasis

    -Allure

    DOESN'T

    -Jewel

    -Navigator

Freedom has them SOMETIMES. The food and beverage manager told me it was hit and miss on FOS. Mostly they don't have them but he said that about 1 or 2 times every few months he will get them in.

He also added that he wished he could have them all the time or order them because they always sell out the first day! But he had no way to really track when they would get them, only new a few days in advance.

  10. everyone else has said it already, but simply stunning pictures. best i have seen of oasis/allure. period.

WAY better than the propaganda stuff that RCCL has. Thank you so much for sharing with us!

we will be on the allure next may and I am just now getting around to downloading a few to use as desktop backgrounds as i count down the days until we leave!

  11. ... I have 6 of them in the closet :) they make great gifts for your beer drinking friends with thier own built in bottle openers. Perfect to take to the pool or hot tub...

Jewel does not have them (been on twice this year and no beer bags)

    Enjoy!

man i want one bad!! even if they dont refill it its nice to have to keep them cool and the bottle opener!! if i were still living in nola id stop by and try to persuade you in selling me one! :D
