Getaway
Not sure why the list still shows Ruth as concierge, but, it was reported this past Saturday (5/3) by someone who boarded that day that the concierge is now Anoop.
I wonder if anyone knows how long he's expected to be on the ship. Sailing 8/30 and hoping he's still there. But that's a long shot.

What Harriet said. This horse is dead; therefore, stop beating it.

A third vote for Maya Chan. They will do everything in their power to make your beach day perfect!
Be sure to try the guacamole.....some of the best I've had.

Oia Santorini from our dinner table, just before our return to the Jade.
That is an incredible shot!

I'll give you the whole load down when I get back. Promise.
Ok...ok. I'm not known for patience. But I'll wait. Have a fabulous trip!

Wow, very cool shot! The hole in the clouds with the sun streaming through is amazing!
Thanks....I very nearly broke my neck scrambling for the camera before that hole closed up.

Would anyone say that being on an aft balcony would be just as good or no?

Our experience on several cruises: Modenos would be my first choice for meat and the awesome salad bar. We also love Le Bistro more than Cagney's but this is just a personal opinion. They are all good.
This. We much prefer Le Bistro over Cagneys. But if you want endless succulent meats....Moderno is the answer.

Thank you for the review! When did you take pics of the Haven area? I don't see any other passengers.

We had 9316 on the Breakaway - and had no soot issues at all. Probably because a lot of the balcony space is covered. LOVED the cabin so much we booked the same one on the Getaway for February 2015 and the Escape for 2016! ;) :D
Here is a link to my fb photos of our cabin on the Breakaway - if you're interested. You do not need a fb account to see the photos.
Wow.....thank you so much for those pics!!!!!!! Oh and for easing my concerns. I'm so ready to go NOW!

Hi all....I just booked the last aft Haven Penthouse suite on the Getaway sailing 8/30/14. I'm a bit concerned about what I'm hearing that there appears to be more soot than typical for these ships. We're on deck 9.
Can those of you that have sailed on these ships in the aft balcony rooms chime in on your experience regarding this?
Thanks.

It's almost always best to insure separate from the booking. I personally use insuremytrip.com ....easy tool that has a great compare policies feature.

The peace and quiet! The view of the ship's wake. Also I don't consider the walk a negative....... the more exercise you do....more food you can eat. LOL

We always stay at The Epic. It is on the bay, most rooms have balconies with amazing views and the taxi ride to POM is short and sweet.

Not to forget the fabulous "fruits de mer" they have in Le Bistro - I am NOT a seafood person, but that dish just taste fantastic!
I realize that I have more than one favorite dish at Le Bistro.... ;)
O M G......I totally forgot about this dish and now I'm craving it. I have to wait 19 weeks.....ugh.

If you're traveling on one of the Jewel class ships, you should try the Pearl Tapioca pudding with Mango sauce in the Asian specialty restaurant.

Hi there!
I have to tell you that this is one of the best reviews I have read on here for quite some time! I don't normally post as you can see from the number of posts as I don't have much to say unless it's deemed important.
My folks, partner and I are sailing on the Star on 1-13 and to have this timely review available a week prior has done nothing but put me in "vacation mode" a week early. LOL
I'm very excited as this is our first time in the Owner's Suite and my folks will be in the adjoining penthouse suite.
I'm liable to be dragged off the ship kicking and screaming on the 20th. So watch the news in New Orleans that day - you''ll likely see my mug shot. LOL Anyhoo - thank you for all of your insights, suggestions, feedback and most of all the photos!

Hopefully no one will feel so selfish as having their vacation "inconvenienced" when you or a loved one has a heart attack or a serious life threatening ACCIDENT while onboard. Seriously....do you people think before posting? Gosh.
