I am part of a group cruise (Aug. 20) so I got stuck with late seating to accommodate the whole group ... I was looking at the Fun Times and I saw the family-friendly comedy is every night at 7:15 :( I was so excited for this! Did you happen to attend this at all? Do you know how long the show lasts? I would REALLY HATE to be late to dinner every night!!
Also, did they only have the comedy brunch on one day? I didn't see it mentioned (I could have missed it)
THANKS!!
I am LOVING your review so far!! :D

The ship docked in Skagway
We booked our tour here with Chilkoot Charters & Tours. We did the Yukon Rail & Bus Excursion that lasted 7.5 hours from 7:30am til 5:00pm. They meet you just outside the port area and drive you the short distance to the rail yard. It included a train ride from Skagway to Fraser, BC where you leave the train & drive through the Yukon Territory.
 I am super confused!! I also booked this tour (my 2nd time doing it - this time taking my Mom) It says on their reservation form that on Fridays you do the bus first and meet at 8:30am ... I wonder why you got to do the train first
Also, what side of the train was the best for viewing? If I remember, I opted to sit on the left (this is the ride going back down) but the right side was the side with all the scenery :o - Just want to make sure that is correct. (don't want to make the same mistake twice!!)

Thanks for the review -
I wanted to ask about your bed. There is a thread on here about the "rock hard mattresses" on the Miracle. I have fibromyalgia, and I am worried!
Were they really bad ... I am bringing egg crate toppers. I am hoping that will help.

Looking forward to your review, we're on the Miracle to Alaska August 20, 2013. Really looking forward to this cruise, first time to Alaska. I hope you got some picture of the ship. We'll be on the Empress deck midship with a balcony - my first requirement to go on a cruise.:p
I am also on the Aug. 20 cruise :) (Are you part of a group by any chance?)
This will be my 3rd time to Alaska - you will LOVE it!! :D
Cruising CARNIVAL MIRACLE to ALASKA June 2013 REVIEW
in Carnival Cruise Lines

On this particular route where you are going round trip from Seattle, starboard side is best. If you are traveling the inside passage (for example on Royal Caribbean where you start in Vancouver and end in Seward) then portside is best
Of course, the BEST OF THE BEST is a aft facing cabin!! :D
Edit: What thecruiserofships said is true. There is no science to what side you will actually dock on. My info was based more on scenery in water than actual dock view ... but even that isn't an actual science!! LOL
Your best bet is the aft facing cabin (but be warned - once you do that, it is hard to ever go back ;) )
