The bathroom on Dawn in our mini was a spa bath and separate shower (very roomy). As another poster has said this may be unique to the Dawn). I've looked on other ships and they appear to be standard bathrooms. I would maybe splurge for mini if they were like this. I think we have a photo I will look for it and post as well as our cabin number. The extra living space and longer balcony is also good.

  2. We've sailed both. 2 cruises (Melb to NZ 2012 &2014). We had previously sailed on the Golden in 2012 the first time in US. Our 2012 cruise was on the Dawn. Unfortunately we'd do compare it a lot to the Golden.

It was smaller, no international cafe and no anytime dining. This being said we had a great cruise. For this cruise though we did have a mini suite as we booked late and no cabins were available. The bathroom is different as other posters have indicated and in more in the full suite and more likely in the higher end suites. It did spoil me for bathroom.

The Golden is bigger but has the things we missed! Crowds fluctuate depending on events on both ships. Whilst we choose anytime dining sometimes to alleviate being in crowds sometimes it does mean compromising for events. There are more lifts as three lift areas but can be waits as on Dawn depending on when you use.

There is a window suite on the Golden. Haven't used it but it has separate bath and shower. Does not have balcony. Not sure how it is priced. It looks a bit smaller than the Dawn Mini.

Sailing from Melb is an advantage no travel to interstate ports (if that's where you live or close). No baggage restriction within reason.

Have only experienced Golden balcony bathrooms and they ate quite compact. I assume Dawn would be similar or perhaps even slightly more compact.

You will need to decide your priorities and what suits you but we had a good time on both cruises.

Depending on your needs it may be worth contacting Princess regarding accessible cabin. They may show booked out but if genuine need you may be able to be accommodated. The bathroom layout is different and may give you more room. A look at the cabin specs on the website may help.

    Hope this helps.

  3. We did this on the Golden 2012. We saw it advertised on TV one evening few days into the cruise. When we booked we were asked T shirt sizes. Thought OK we are going to get an T. shirt. The tour had 2 vacant places. We did not know about the gifts, ran into some other people on the tour that evening and they asked if we'd gotten our gifts. Later they were on the bed and covered the width of the bed. We got chef's jackets, plush robes, note pads, photo frames and ship's photos. As we are from Australia and sailing back from LA we did have a spare suitcase but that was for post-cruise shopping well we coped![emoji4]

We were not allowed to take cameras at all and no photos. So getting ship's photos as part of package.

The other factor in the cost is that there are 3 members is staff with you throughout the tour. As this is once off tour this has to be accommodated for. Also as someone pointed out seeing the staff /officers in their domain and in a small group was also an advantage.

It appears the experience is slightly different on different ships. We just did a cruise to NZ from Melbourne over Christmas / New Year and was taking to someone who was interested in doing the tour on that cruise and discussion he informed us that they were not including the engine control room and bridge (he did no do the tour but was told when enquiring about it). There was an afternoon information session one day with engineering in one of the lounges. My husband went to this. Talk was fairly similar to on tour but not in the location!

When we did the tour we thought it well worth especially when received the gifts thought we were getting a T shirt. [emoji3] time with senior staff and behind scenes staff was great bonus. The only thing we didn't do was going to funnel due to the weather. This was my husband's first cruise so that is another reason to do it.

  4. Hi,

we are booked on this cruise due to cancellation of Golden cruise in 2016. As we booked Mel to Sydney leg and Sydney to L we had two cruises to book. We have booked one at Christmas. AUS/NZ and the replacement repositioning in 2017.

I had the same question. It is as Pam has outlined not available on the Aus/NZ but is on the repositioning. I know this as I went into rise personaliser and tried to purchase as dummy. Not available on the NZ cruise but I could purchase on LA cruise. Not sure if we will as thing the pricing is high for our drinking style. We will use Christmas cruise as model before ultimately deciding.

PS there is a new roll call for the 2017 cruise if you haven't already joined.

  5. Not unless you already have a CCN.

After your cruise you might have at least 3 cruise credits.:)

Hi I found out about this on a thread last year. You should have a profile that you can access via Pincess website but as this poster has said you may not have that till after your cruise. In same region where you look up booking. Not sure if you can create one if there isn't one. Once you have a profile you just add previous cruises and it is updated fairly quickly. We had done a cruise the previous year so already had profiles. So n our Christmas cruise I achieved next level. Am ahead of my husband! Small bonus for 1992 cruise on Fairstar. :)

  6. Hi stumbled across this thread and it addressed my query about adding Fairstar cruise from early 90s. Took this tip and within 24 hours was added. Also interesting that that cries was under my maiden name and current details are in my maiden name. Now added and counting towards next level!

    Thanks saved time and correspondence.

Whoops that should current details in married name. Must cross check somewhere!

  7. Because you have already cruised on Princess, go to their website and then to My Princess, here it will tell you your previous sailings with them, go to that section and you will see your previous cruise with them listed and under that a section you can add previous cruises with P@0 and Sitmar.

I added ours that we did in the 80's and 90's by the month and year only and they then became part of my cruising days, I didn't get credited with any days for 1961 the year my family migrated here but from 1984 onwards we did.

I never had to make any phone calls and now whenever I book a new cruise it appears on the list and the list also tells you your total cruising days, we are sooooooo close to ELITE but no cruise booked at the moment.
