Ubers are plentiful in that area and allowed in the port. There usually isn’t a long wait for an Uber here.
I wouldn’t go closer to the airport and Brickell is a great area to stay in after the cruise. You will be able to walk so shops, restaurants, bars, etc. You will also have access to the train, metromover (free) and trolley (free).
Zoo Miami is a great zoo will be quite a drive from there, you will need a rental car. Frost Science Museum is an aquarium in downtown Miami and you can reach it very easily via the metromover. It’s really nice! There is also Miami Seaquarium over on Key Biscayne which you could Uber to. Little bit of trivia, they did film the original Flipper tv show here.
Do you have any feedback on Aloft Brickell? A friend stayed several years ago and liked it, but I seem to see a lot of mixed reviews lately...

Looking forward to your review. We're on the Equinox 9 day ABC in October...anxiously counting down the days!!

I'm not sure how they compare, but they are very good. Not sure if they still do the tastings, but last time we were there we sampled a LOT of rum cake [emoji3]We have had many, many tortuga rum cakes in the Caribbean. Love it...so moist. However recently in Cozumel we grabed a different brand there, it was ok but not as good as the other.
How are the rum cakes here if comparing to Tortuga?
I know that this is subjective, killing time during countdown.

We will be in St Thomas on a Saturday...does anyone know if Megans Bay is crowded with locals on weekends? We really love the beach there!

For Oceanview and balcony rooms you will get a choice of UBP, UDP or an OBC. I'm guessing the fares will go up...depending on how much, it may still be a pretty good deal!

Completely agree, the local ones we go to are much better. If you don't have one where you live then you'll probably enjoy it.

Yes...again this is subjective, but we didn't think it was worth it. The hibachi places we've been to at home had much better food.

I didn't get a pcc until after completing my second cruise with ncl

One more question for you kjbacon...we are trying to decide how much to pack (we are both notorious over packers lol). Do you remember approx when on the 9 day they did the laundry special?

I read somewhere on this board that after your first night on ship if you go to the latitudes desk they will SOMETIMES reprint your card giving you the new status level for the rest of your cruise (I'm sure it will depend on the crew member)....Im going to try it on my upcoming cruise in March.

Great review, thank you. We will be on the Gem on March 17 and can't wait to get away from the snow!!
One question about the spa...was it crowded on the sea days (ie. Hard to get a lounger)...we are trying to decide if it will be worth the extra $$

Many times if you go to your ships roll call board and sign up for the Meet & Greet the ship invites the participants to a bridge tour...no guarantees or anything but it worked for us!

Glad you're having a good time. We are going on this same trip in March! Trying to figure out what time disembarkation in NY is...our itinerary says 10am but I've heard from others that it actually begins around 8am...would love your most recent input!
Everything... project Leonardo/Prima class!
