  1. Good morning ladies #newbie here [emoji114]🏽

But when I saw sewing....I'm all in. LOL. I sew about 90% of my clothes.

I just booked my birthday cruise for Oct 2017 so I'm already planning out my vacation outfits.

  2. Ok so I'm finally caught up. Again thank you for such a detailed and entertaining review. Thanks to your review and a couple others here on CC I booked my birthday trip today. I'm taking the Escape Western Caribbean cruise. [emoji92][emoji512][emoji484][emoji92] Was even able to grab one of the balcony aft cabins with the larger balcony.

Congratulations on your recent nuptials. I pray your recovery from your accident and surgeries continue to go well.

  3. I purchased these packing cubes for our first cruise. I was able to pack for 10 days in Hawaii in a carry-on suitcase. Would I every try to do that again...never, but at least I know I can. Now any trip over 5 days will have to be in a regular suitcase. But the packing cubes, IMO well worth every penny. I highly recommend them.

When I saw your video and saw the shoe rack immediately added that to my packing list. I found one this weekend at IKEA FOR $4.99. I'm going to check Family Dollar for the square cubes.

    With regards to the cubes:

Now, this past weekend, Jerome and I were in Family Dollar and I found cubes, 12 x 12 in packs of 3 for only $6.00. Really neat, and less weight than my originals (for those of you concerned about flying and suitcase weight).

The cubes make a wonderful organizational addition to a room with no drawers and virtually no storage.

Our friends also take these cool things that organize in their suitcase called packing cubes, and they sit on the shelves of the closet. They just pull them out of their suitcase already packed and clothes separated, and place them on the shelf for instant organization and space saving. Ingenious!

Here is the link to the packing cubes, they are expensive to me, but still really neat.

  4. There are good pictures HERE and HERE that show how much larger those balconies are.

You can count the decks from the bottom (9) up.

My mom and sister were in 12304 right next to me....

  5. I am not only "jaded" but I am the typical Balcony Snob with a capital BS! :p

I don't like being closed in PERIOD! I need to see sunlight and have fresh air. I just got back from my first cruise and we had a balcony. I told my BF he set the bar and there is no way I would EVER be able to do an inside cabin on any other cruise.

Every morning we would sit out on the balcony...we were able to get some BEAUTIFUL sunrise photos at each port. And we would end every evening on the balcony to a beautiful Hawaiian sunset. Altought neither would be in direct view from our balcony, we could still catch a glimps of it in either direction.

So um add me to the "BS" club! :D LOL

  6. Sounds like you super organized. You might want to post a message in the NCL forum to find out what kinds of scrapbooking kits they have on board since POA just circles the islands I believe, and might have something interesting to purchase on-board.

My BF went to pick up the last of our pictures the last night of the cruise and came back with their scrapbook kit! I think it was around $17 and was LOADED with lots of great stuff. Plus we also got a picture of the ship that showed the islands, information about Hawaii and the route we took.

I look gallon sized ziplock bags (one for every day of the trip) so that I can dump everything for that day into at the end of the day. Worked out great. Helped really keep everything sorted. As soon as I decide which pictures to print (we took over 1,500 between the two of us)

  7. I ordered the small packing cubes from eBags. We leave Friday for Hawaii and i was able to pack everything a 10 day trip in one carryon bag...with room to spare.

I was able to put 4 tshirts and 5 tank tops in one small cube. I love how neat and organized my bag looks. I'm going to upgrade my luggage for our next trip and order a set of the medium packing cubes for larger items.

  8. I'm a first time cruiser and new to scapbooking also. I've done scrapbook guest books for friends (baby showers, birthdays, etc.) but this will be the first one I've done for myself.

I started right after we booked our cruise in April. We are cruising POA to Hawaii in Sept. So far I have "pre-done" most of the pages to try to get a head start. I've been to Michaels and Hobby Lobby to gather travel and cruise related papers and 3-d stickers. I signed up with Hawaii's tourism site and received lots of magazines and post cards which I will incorporate into our books with the things we collect on the cruise, excursions and photos etc.

Love the tips that have been posted on here so far!

  9. I read on another board and online somewhere that is concidered bad luck to take black sand and/or lava rocks from Hawaii. A big cultural no-no!

I love the idea of the sand in the shot glass. It would be cute to get one of those mini bar size bottles to store the sand in.
