  1. you ignore the current offer and keep checking to see if another offer provides you a better deal. I am currently doing that on 2 bookings myself. I usually check twice a day.

And sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Hope you have someone there to take care of you.

But I submitted the forms already...so if they approve them, doesn't the change just happen? I'm sorry, I don't remember...it's been two years since I did this last.

  2. As our signature below would indicate we have 12 booked, but there will be more sailed between the last 2.

    I NEED YOUR LIFE.

Seriously...if I lived in Florida, I would very rarely take a land vacation. I would cruise as much as possible. If I didn't have Rapid Rewards points and LUV vouchers, our flights would have been close to the same cost as our cruise! I can't imagine living within an 8 hour drive of a port. *sigh*

  3. You don't need to include the screen snapshot with the form. If they deny it, then you can forward the screen snapshot as an attachment.

If you got the $100 OBC as part of a rate not booked onboard, you will lose it when you price match to another rate. So, you would be trading in your $100 OBC for a $50 OBC.

What you need to do is figure out what the bottom line cost is. Say your cruise is $1200 with the $100 OBC. To be beneficial to you, the new bottom line would have to be below $1150 with the current $50 OBC.

    I hope this helps.

I figured that's how it would work. Now I have to do math...dang it!

  4. Ok I've got my form all filled out and took the screenshot of the Fare Viewer showing the reduced fares. I pasted the screenshot into paint and saved it as a jpg. Now how do I attach the jpg to the form? All there is is a spot for the web address where I found the lower fare (Fare Viewer) and then a "comments" box.

I've done PPFs before but it was years ago and I don't remember how to include the screenshot!

Someone remind me, please? And then I'll go on feeling like an idiot because I'm sure it's very simple. :D

Also, the cabin I have booked is a 4J (interior with picture window, walkway view). When we booked it, we received a $100 cabin credit as part of the sale that Carnival was offering at that time.

How does all of this factor into the price drop? If I do a mock booking for the same type of cabin, it's less than what I paid but the credit is up to $50 per cabin, not $100. It's all very confusing. Should I just submit the form with the screenshot and hope for the best?

  5. Thank you so much I have this cabin in October on the Dream and it is the ONLY actual photos out there! I also love the pics of the Lobby and Aft pool.

    Very much appreciated :)

The cabin size was wonderful but the thrusters/engines/anchor (whatever it is that's crazy loud at 6 am) can be annoying. If you're an early riser, it won't bother you. I am NOT an early riser. LOL

I wouldn't choose the cabin again unless I got a great deal. A regular oceanview has a sofa and coffee table and a bit more desk space (at least that's how I remember it). We did use the windows as storage space though. It was nice to basically have two extra shelves? to put our stuff on. And I did like that the bathroom wasn't near the front door so there was no interference there.

For our trip this December, we got a cabin all the way forward with a window that looks out onto an observation deck. So we paid inside cabin prices (and got a $100 cabin credit) but still have a window. My understanding is that the doors to the observation deck are locked at night so at least we don't have to deal with noisy people at night. I've never been that high up on a ship before either. Always been on Riviera deck. This time we are on Empress. Cabin 7201.

Thanks for reading my review and I hope you enjoy your time on Dream! :)

  6. GREAT review! And congrats on your engagement! Totally unforgettable.

I love your love story as I think long distance love is incredibly hard but so worth it if it works out.

I'm hoping to be on Pride in December (taking my parents on their FIRST cruise!). She looks like a wonderful ship and I LOVE the idea of a Serenity with it's own pool! Amazing! Were either of the other pools adults only?

  7. Thanks for sharing! We're doing the Dream in October, same intinieary, and can not wait 65 days to go!

May I ask re: Chankannab park - was it really that bad? We'd planned to visit in Cozumel (we aren't the type to spend all day on the beach we don't need the tan lol) because we didn't find too much else that interested us.

    Looking forward to reading more!

Chankanaab is not bad at all. It's a big park once you figure out how far it goes. There's lots of space but not a lot of it is shaded. I get hot VERY fast so I only complained because the only place I wanted to cool off was packed with very young school children. I mean there was not one corner of the pool that wasn't packed with kids. But we probably could have gone over to the other side of the park and found some chairs near the beach...we just wouldn't have had any shade. And I needed the shade. I was not prepared for how intense the heat and sun are in Mexico. Plus we got there WAY too early.

  8. Next port was Mahogany Bay, Roatan. We'd made arrangements with another travel pair from cruise critic to take a tour of the island through Victor Bodden's tour company. So we met up with our tour buddies and climbed the hill outside of the port to meet up with our tour guide. Of course I don't remember his name name but he was wonderful. He drove us all over the island, pointing out some of the resorts etc. He took us to the top of a hill that looked down on the island (it was beautiful). We then went to Victor Bodden's place with all the birds and monkeys. Victor himself is ridiculously handsome. I am not one for mingling with the wildlife too closely so I held the purses while the others went in the cages and played with the monkeys. Just not my deal. I'm a wuss. Oh well. After the monkeys, our drivers took us to Fosters. Fosters is a beach club. We paid $10 each for entrance and for a beach chair. The beach itself was really clean and the water nice and calm. We ran into our guy friends there and hung out for a while. We also had a drink at one of the cool tables that had swings as chairs. After the beach we had a little more of a tour of the island and then were dropped off at Mahogany Bay. We did a little shopping, had our passports stamped and then got back on the ship.

We met up with our guy friends later and hung out with them for a while. We spent a lot of time in the hot tubs on Serenity. Actually at one point one of the guys and I were standing on the edge of the hot tub looking over the edge of the ship into Mahogany Bay. We could see a sting ray frolicking in the water. We watched it for a while. I got a tiny bit of vertigo and a lot of sun while standing up there. But it's such a cool experience to be up so high and get an incredible view of the island and the beach. I fell in love with Roatan and the people. I would go back there on a land vacation with no hesitation.

  9. The next port was Belize. I'd originally planned for us to go cave tubing but I wussed out and we cancelled. So we just we took the tender (omg it was SO hot and sweaty) and did a little window shopping at the port. We also stopped and had a virgin mango margarita at one of the bars inside the port. We found the people in Belize no different than the ones in Mexico. They all want to make money so they are a little aggressive. But a simple “no thank you” usually worked. There was lots of pretty stuff to buy in Belize, including lots of nice dresses but I was on a budget, both financially and also for space in my suitcase. Here's a few pics I took while in port. Oh the tender is LONG and HOT. Bring something to drink, seriously. We crammed people in every inch of the boat both going and coming back and by the time I got back to the boat I was REALLY miserably hot and just wanted a cold shower.

When we did get back on board, the pools were packed so we headed to Serenity. While lying out in the sun, we saw a really bizarre situation unfold in front of us. There was a hot tub less than 10 ft away from us. And these people rolled this older lady (I mean she had to be in her 80s) up to the stairs of the hot tub in her wheelchair and kinda sorta helped her climb the stairs (she was in her swimsuit). But if you know how narrow the stairs are, it's not like someone could really hold her hand to help her up the stairs. She could barely propel herself up the stairs. It took her a good 5 minutes to get to the top of the stairs and to the edge of the tub. Then she's standing there and has to climb down at least a couple more stairs to be IN the hot tub. But neither of her family members attempted to help her or offered to get into the tub first and be there to lead her and help her into the tub. I thought it was so bizarre that they kind of left her to handle it herself. If it were my family member, I would have had one person stand behind her and another go ahead of her to help her up the stairs and down the stairs in to the tub. She was clearly not very stable on her feet as she was in a wheelchair and watching her try to climb and then descend the stairs was torturous. I wanted to go over and help her but felt I'd probably get told to mind my own business. I took pictures of the whole thing but obviously don't want to post them...lol. I just found the whole situation so strange. Then again I work in the medical field and I know what makes sense as far as mobility goes.

I think that night we ate in the MDR and I had a burger. I don't really remember. We ate in the MDR 4 times for dinner...that I do know. And I had WCMC every single time. I do remember we went to comedy and Doug Williams was one of the comedians. He was GREAT. We both got our pic taken with him after the show. He had performed two nights prior and we loved him then. This was his last night on the ship.

The tender ride was SO hot and sticky. Humidity and I are not good friends.
