We did this last year and found a good guide on Tours By Locals. Sorry but don't remember her name.
-
Yes you have to book through the cruise line. When you go to cruise air you'll find flights on "sale" with the $500 credit applied.

Deck 10 under the Windjammer can get quite noisy, chairs being scrapped along the floor all day long can be very annoying. We also had late night cleaning crews that woke us up a few times. We've been in 1104 and 1102. Now we book deck 7,8, or 9 and don't hear anything from above.

Yes, the ranger had it at the table set up for them.

We're the same as you. We've found Holland America Line to be a good alternative to X. Cruised to Alaska twice with them and are doing a Med cruise next year. They do have some different itineraries from X. The food was good, on par or in some cases better than X. We do balcony cabins and so far they have been equal. HAL doesn't do production shows but has good music venues like BB King's. They also have better lectures and enrichment programs.

The seafood tower shows a $15 upcharge. I believe it is for two people.
Yes there is an upcharge now for the seafood tower, $15 for 2 people. In my opinion it makes The Porch at $35 a person not worth it. Unless you really want a lobster roll I wouldn't waste my money there.

Can I use OBC to buy shore excursions and internet packages before my cruise? Or can I only use the OBC once I'm on board. I've got things in my cart but want to use OBC to pay for them but can't find a way on the HAL website to do that.

Thank you, VMAX1700 that's what I need to see.

Hi, we're booked on Westerdam for a cruise in the Med. I've been looking online and the only WiFi package they sell is the Premium package at $159 per device. My question is do they offer different packages once your onboard and what are they?
Thanks

I second the recommendation for Scubacao on Curacao! We've been out with them 3 times and have never been disappointed in the day.

We used our OBC to pay for our class. They don't do a show anymore but you can sit and watch everyone make their pieces for free.

We've always done a flight after 11AM , anything before that can be hit or miss. TSA in San Juan can be very very slow. And don't forget to do the Agricultural check before checking in for your fight or you're heading back to do it.

Amtrak is how we do it.

Try Ti Kaye on St. Lucia, we've been doing the day pass there for many years.
-
Another option to flying to YVR is fly to Seattle and take Amtrak from the King Street Station to Vancouver. We're doing a Hawaii cruise out of Vancouver in September and we paid $68 for the two of us to take the train.
Definitely spend some time in Vancouver, the Hop On Hop Off gets you almost anywhere you want to go.

Been there and wouldn't recommend it if you don't snorkel. Snorkeling was fantastic, not so much fun for the 1 person in our group that doesn't snorkel and just sat on the beach.

Stay away from DePalm Island , it 's a waste of time and money unless you're looking for a water park for the kids.
-
It's made of resin in China. You can get your own on Amazon.

Thanks Ernies. Is the sculpture garden worth a look?
There are better things to do in Grenada, like taking one of Mandoo's tours.
-
Not even close to the quality of Bonaire. Most interesting place would be the sculpture garden.

We ended up choosing Summit, after comparing prices and the nickel & dimeing on RC it came out almost even.
Dominica is also the driver for our choice. We want to get back and see what we can do the help out our friend Levi.
-
Currently in the same position. Our small group is leaning toward Summit. We were kind of disappointed with Jewel this year and haven't seen much about Vision to say "ohh let's do that one" Only thing is Vision would be a few hundred less than Summit.

Can anyone comment about mosquitoes? Are they a big issue on the islands or at sea? We are from the uk so don’t have them at home. Thank you

Didn't see or get bit by a single one all week. And we went into the rainforest on Martinique.
